The Infiniti QX60 is a mid-size, three-row luxury SUV that debuted in 2013 (as the JX35). The 2019 model is part of the first generation. Key trims include the base QX60, QX60 Luxe, and optionally available all-wheel drive. Known for its comfortable ride and family-friendly features, the QX60 offers seating for seven. The 2019 model's original MSRP ranged approximately from $44,000 to $54,000, making it an attractive option in the luxury SUV segment. Its blend of practicality and luxury makes it popular.
The Good

The 2019 Infiniti QX60 offers a comfortable and quiet ride, making it excellent for families. Its luxurious interior and elegant design appeal to emotional buyers. Practically, it provides ample cargo space and a user-friendly infotainment system. While not a performance SUV, its V6 engine offers adequate power, and it represents good value in the luxury SUV market, balancing features and price.

The Bad

The 2019 Infiniti QX60's weaknesses include a somewhat dated infotainment system compared to rivals. Its handling isn't particularly sporty, and the continuously variable transmission (CVT) can feel unresponsive at times. Fuel economy is average for the class. Watch for potential CVT issues and ensure regular maintenance to prevent problems. Some find the third-row access a bit tight.

What Problems Does the 2019 Infiniti QX60 Have?

The 2019 Infiniti QX60 has some frequently reported problems to be aware of. Chief among them are concerns surrounding the continuously variable transmission (CVT). Some owners have reported issues like shuddering, hesitation, or even complete transmission failure at relatively low mileage. Regular servicing of the CVT fluid is critical to mitigating these risks.

Another area of concern involves the infotainment system. Some users have experienced glitches, slow response times, and connectivity issues with the Infiniti InTouch system.

Recalls for the 2019 QX60 have been issued for problems such as insufficient welds on the second-row seat frames, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Also, some models were recalled for issues with the backup camera system.

Long-term reliability concerns generally focus on the CVT's durability. While the engine itself is generally robust, preventative maintenance is key to extending the life of other components. Checking for any service bulletins or technical service advisories (TSBs) related to the CVT or other systems is recommended before purchasing a used 2019 QX60. Always obtain a pre-purchase inspection from a qualified mechanic.

How long will the 2019 Infiniti QX60 last?

With proper maintenance, a 2019 Infiniti QX60 can reasonably be expected to last for 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-13 years. However, longevity heavily depends on consistent maintenance, especially concerning the CVT. Owners who diligently follow the recommended service schedule, including regular CVT fluid changes, are more likely to experience fewer issues. Over time, potential weaknesses may include wear and tear on suspension components, interior trim, and electronic systems. Rust can become a factor in regions with harsh winters, so regular washing and undercoating are advisable. The CVT remains the most significant long-term reliability concern.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2019 Infiniti QX60 comes equipped with a range of tech, entertainment, and safety features. Standard features include the Infiniti InTouch infotainment system with an 8-inch display, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a six-speaker audio system. Higher trims add features like a panoramic sunroof, a 13-speaker Bose audio system, and navigation.

Driver-assistance features include standard automatic emergency braking. Optional features (depending on the trim and package) include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane departure prevention. The Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection provides a 360-degree view around the vehicle, which aids in parking and maneuvering.

Safety features include standard airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control. The 2019 Infiniti QX60 earned good crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). It received a "Top Safety Pick" award from IIHS when equipped with specific headlights. NHTSA gave it a 5-star overall safety rating. While the infotainment system might feel dated compared to newer competitors, the QX60 offers a solid suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies.

2019 Infiniti QX60 Prices and Market Value

The 2019 Infiniti QX60 had a starting MSRP of around $44,000 to $54,000 when new, depending on the trim and options. Current used market prices typically range from $20,000 to $30,000, depending on mileage, condition, and location. The QX60 has experienced moderate depreciation. Factors affecting resale value include the vehicle's condition, mileage, maintenance history, and trim level. Models with lower mileage, a clean title, and a comprehensive service record tend to command higher prices. The presence of desirable options, such as the ProAssist or Sensory packages, can also positively impact resale value. The QX60's reputation for being less sporty than some competitors can negatively impact its resale price.

2019 Infiniti QX60 Cost of Ownership

The 2019 Infiniti QX60 falls into the mid-range for ownership costs. Insurance premiums are comparable to other luxury SUVs. Fuel costs are average, given its fuel economy. Maintenance, including oil changes and tire replacements, is typical for a luxury vehicle. However, potential CVT issues can lead to costly repairs. Long-term ownership costs could be higher than average if the CVT requires replacement or major repairs. Overall, it's not the most economical, nor the most costly, luxury SUV to own.

2019 Infiniti QX60 Insurance

Insurance for a 2019 Infiniti QX60 is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Wagon with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2019 Infiniti QX60 Compare to Other Wagon?

The 2019 Infiniti QX60 competes with other mid-size luxury SUVs like the Acura MDX, Lexus RX 350L, and Volvo XC90. In terms of performance, the QX60 is adequate but not sporty, lagging behind the Acura MDX in handling. Feature-wise, it offers a competitive set of standard and optional features, but its infotainment system is less modern than the Volvo XC90's. Reliability is a concern, as the QX60's CVT has been known to have issues, giving the Lexus RX 350L an edge.

Price-wise, the QX60 generally undercuts the Volvo XC90 and is similarly priced to the Acura MDX and Lexus RX 350L.

Alternatives to consider: The Acura MDX offers a sportier driving experience and better handling. The Lexus RX 350L provides excellent reliability and a luxurious interior. The Volvo XC90 boasts a more modern design and advanced technology. For those prioritizing reliability and a plush ride, the Lexus is a strong contender. For those who value driving dynamics, the Acura is a better choice. If the budget allows, the Volvo offers a more upscale experience.

Final Verdict: Is the 2019 Infiniti QX60 a Good Wagon?

The 2019 Infiniti QX60 is ideal for families seeking a comfortable and luxurious three-row SUV without breaking the bank. It's worth buying used if you find a well-maintained model with a documented service history, particularly regarding CVT fluid changes. Prioritize the Luxe trim for its additional features and consider models with the optional packages for enhanced safety and convenience. Due to potential CVT issues, a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic is crucial. If reliability is your top priority, alternative vehicles such as the Lexus RX 350L may be a better choice. If you value a comfortable ride and spacious interior at a reasonable price point, the QX60 is a viable option.
