The Good
The 2014 Sonic offers a blend of practicality and fun. Its available turbocharged engine provides peppy performance, appealing to those seeking driving enjoyment. Its fuel efficiency and affordable price make it a sensible choice. The design is youthful and modern, while the comfortable interior caters to daily commutes. Decent reliability adds to its value proposition.
The Bad
The 2014 Sonic's weaknesses include its somewhat cramped rear seating, especially in the sedan. The base engine can feel underpowered. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system and premature wear of certain components. Rust can be a concern in areas with harsh winters. Final Verdict: Is the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic a Good Sedan?

BewareThis car engine is only made to last no more than 120,000 and that is after replacing everything in it except the engine itself. After all is said and done, Carvana will only off you $400 for resale.

Happy in LouisianaHad car 8 yrs only trouble I had was upper o2 snsir went out. Still runs like a kitten.Great sound system, easy steering wheel control. Drive it from Louisiana to North Carolina once a year great gas mileage.

Don't Buy!!The worse car I've owned. Three months after purchasing this car in March 2021, I've put a reasonable amount of money into this car. Replaced O2 sensors TWICE, cooling fan, Thermostat assembly, Ignitions coils Three times, Spark plugs broke two times in a month due to the coils, replaced the oil pan because I was leaking oil, well it's fixed, and now I'm burning oil. Replaced my coolant hose because it was leaking. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR!! My check engine light stays on even after fixing the code it's throwing. I've had the car towed 3 times in a month due to it overheating even after fixing my coolant leak. The car is definitely cheap and I used it as much as I can but it's time to find a better reliable car. I can't drive an hour without worrying if my car will break down in the road (which has happened it me plenty of times).

After fixing another problemUntil 100k mileage this car is xxxx. Not worth at all for 7 years. ALL NEED TO FIX EVERYTIME, SPAREPART HARD TO FIND. SOO REGRET.

Piece of xxxx buy forgeinThis car is a lemon. Everything on this car has had to be replaced before 100,000 miles. I have replaced, fuel harness, fuel tank, fuel injectors cleaned, water pump, timing belt, radiator, coolant reservoir, my transmission went out while driving in a busy intersection no Warning. Air bags have been repaired and replaced and still having problems. Electrical problems since purchasing. This car was very poorly made. I have put more money into the car then it’s worth. Chevy doesn’t stand by it and won’t admit to the cars poor design and Takati won’t take responsibility for the airbags not deploying either. Worst part I live in illinois where our lemon laws only allow 30 days from purchase to file for lemon law. I’m stuck with an undriveable car for 6 years. Pieces of xxxx. Chevy should have taken them all back and given out a better car to all these ppl that got dooped. I will NEVER buy another Chevy again.

Money PitWorst car! I bought my sonic brand new. At first it was simple things going wrong...alternator/battery/headlights every few months. I've always been on time with servicing my car. As soon as I hit 100k the car took a total crap. Car started throwing multiple codes went into fail safe mode rendering me stranded. I've had to replace multiple sensors/coil pack/ECM. That was last year. Car hit 115k check engine light came on once again and started throwing multiple codes... P0131 and P0171 so I replaced the sensor but as soon as I did that the engine light started blinking and running horrible throwing a multitude of codes. Upon inspection noticed PCV valve was creating a vacuum. Recall on this but only for the 1.4L mine isn't covered because it's a 1.8L... Crock if you ask me. Luckily I've gotten off cheaper than others due to friends that are mechanics or doing the work myself but honestly I am getting seriously tired of throwing money at this car and being stranded without a vehicle. I don't have other transportation so I'm hoping that by replacing the valve cover it'll run long enough to trade in on something more reliable. If you are considering buying a Sonic... Think twice these are a money pit, you might buy it new for cheap but you'll be upside down b4 you leave the lot and will eventually wind up spending money on repairs that you could have spent purchasing a more reliable vehicle to start with.

chevy sonic good on gas but not made very wellevery time it is time to inspect the car the check engine light comes on.every two years you have to replace the cover over the motor because it leaks. the gear shift breaks . get the replacement parts still fo not work. why buy a car you have to put money in after the first year.

Served its purpose. Sonic 2014 LT 1.8This car served its purpose for basic daily routines. Drive to and from work, and grocery and shopping. Realiability??? Cannot guarantee. Purchase in 2020 with 71,000 mileage. May 2021 mileage was 77,000 engine light on. OBDII showed error codes. Changed thermostat $375.00. Engine light still on. Temperature while on part without AC on was 230. Changed throttle and radiator fan. Spent $950 for parts only. Engine light still on. In shop now. Changed intake manifold. Spent $950 labor & parts. Engine Light was gone but engine temperature is still 230. We paid $7500.00 for this car. Can someone tell me what is wrong with this car? Can't afford to purchase another car for now with only one person working in our household.

Worst car I’ve ownedAbsolutely hate it. I bought it used, but I have had so many issues with it since. Transmission hoses busted, obviously you can’t check transmission fluid in a closed system, so my transmission went out. I was on the interstate in freezing temperatures with my toddler an hour from home when it happened. I’m unsure if it’s because of that or the fact that my traction control stays on. Since we replaced the transmission, the same xxxx thing is happening and it just throws the code for TCM, which was ALSO replaced. Also had to replace the ball joints. Now the engine light, traction control light, and tire pressure lights are all on. The gas gauge and odometer aren’t working and no one has a single idea as to why. Worst car I’ve EVER owned.
