The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is a full-size sedan, part of the second generation launched in 2010. Key trims included the base LaCrosse, Convenience, Leather, Premium I, Premium II, and Premium III. The LaCrosse offered a blend of comfort and near-luxury features at a competitive price point. Its spacious interior, quiet ride, and available V6 engine made it a popular choice for those seeking a comfortable and refined driving experience. Pricing ranged approximately from $34,000 to $40,000 when new.
The Good

The 2014 Buick LaCrosse offered a comfortable and quiet ride, appealing to those seeking tranquility. The available V6 provided adequate power. What Problems Does the 2014 Buick LaCrosse Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2014 Buick LaCrosse often revolve around the MyLink infotainment system. Users have reported slow response times, glitches, and connectivity issues. Another common concern involves water leaks, primarily through the sunroof or around the windshield seals. This can lead to water damage inside the cabin, potentially affecting electrical components.
Recalls for the 2014 LaCrosse have addressed issues like potential brake failures or engine stall due to a faulty fuel pump relay. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls. Long-term reliability concerns also include potential issues with the timing chain, particularly in the 3.6L V6 engine. Symptoms include a rattling noise upon startup.
Premature wear of suspension components, such as struts and control arm bushings, is another area of concern, especially on vehicles driven in areas with poor road conditions. Additionally, wheel bearing failures have been reported. The eAssist system, present in the 2.4L models, has also presented some problems in the long term with its battery pack. These are less frequent than the infotainment and water leak issues but are still worth considering.

How long will the 2014 Buick LaCrosse last?

With proper maintenance, a 2014 Buick LaCrosse can realistically achieve 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-15 years of service. However, longevity heavily depends on consistent oil changes, timely replacement of wear items (brakes, tires), and addressing any issues promptly. Long-term durability can be affected by the aforementioned infotainment glitches, potential water leaks leading to rust/electrical problems, and the timing chain issue in the V6. The eAssist system in the 4-cylinder models can also be a long-term reliability concern due to battery degradation over time. Regular inspections and preventative maintenance are crucial to maximizing the lifespan of this vehicle.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2014 Buick LaCrosse offered a decent array of tech and safety features for its time. Standard tech included an 8-inch touchscreen display with Buick's MyLink infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, OnStar, and a rearview camera. Higher trims added features like navigation, a premium audio system, and keyless entry/start.
Driver-assistance features, available on higher trims (Premium II and III), included adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and forward collision alert. These features enhance safety and provide a more comfortable driving experience. In terms of safety, all models came standard with antilock brakes, stability control, and a suite of airbags.
The 2014 Buick LaCrosse earned good crash-test ratings from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). NHTSA awarded it a 5-star overall safety rating. IIHS gave it a "Good" rating in most crash tests, although its small overlap front crash test rating was "Marginal." Optional safety features, like the aforementioned driver-assistance tech, further improved safety and driver confidence.

2014 Buick LaCrosse Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2014 Buick LaCrosse had an MSRP ranging from approximately $34,000 to $40,000 depending on the trim and options. As of today, used market prices typically range from $8,000 to $15,000, depending on condition, mileage, and trim level. The LaCrosse has depreciated significantly due to its age and the typical depreciation curve for sedans. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition (interior and exterior), service history, trim level (higher trims with more features hold their value better), and location. Vehicles with a clean title and no accident history command higher prices.

2014 Buick LaCrosse Cost of Ownership

Insurance costs for the 2014 Buick LaCrosse are generally moderate, reflecting its class and safety ratings. Fuel costs vary depending on the engine choice, with the 4-cylinder eAssist model being more economical than the V6. Maintenance costs are average for a full-size sedan, but potential repairs (infotainment, water leaks, timing chain) can increase long-term ownership costs. Overall, the LaCrosse isn't overly expensive to own, but diligent maintenance and addressing potential issues promptly are key to keeping costs manageable.

Summary General Motors LLC (Gm) IS Recalling Certain Model Year 2014 Buick Regal, Lacrosse, Verano, and Enclave, and Chevrolet Impala, Malibu, Cruze, and Traverse, and GMC Acadia Vehicles Equipped With Automatic Transmissions. IN THE Affected Vehicles, THE Transmission Shift Cable Adjuster MAY Disengage From THE Transmission Shift Lever. AS Such, These Vehicles DO NOT Conform TO Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (Fmvss) Number 102, "transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." They Also Fail TO Conform TO Fmvss Number 114, "theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
Consequence IF A Vehicle's Shift Cable Disengages From THE Transmission Shift Lever, A Driver MAY BE Unable TO Shift Gear Positions and THE Indicated Shift Position MAY NOT Represent THE Gear Position THE Vehicle IS IN. Should A Disengagement Occur While THE Vehicle IS Being Driven, When THE Driver Goes TO Stop and Park THE Vehicle, THE Driver MAY BE Able TO Shift THE Lever TO THE "park" Position, BUT THE Vehicle Transmission MAY NOT BE IN THE "park" Gear Position. IF THE Vehicle IS NOT IN THE "park" Position There IS A Risk THE Vehicle Will Roll Away AS THE Driver and Other Occupants Exit THE Vehicle or Anytime Thereafter. A Vehicle Rollaway Increases THE Risk OF Injury TO Exiting Occupants and Bystanders.
Remedy General Motors Will Notify Owners, and Dealers Will Inspect and Replace ANY Affected Transmission Shift Cable Adjusters, Free OF Charge. THE Recall Began ON April 10, 2014. Chevrolet Owners MAY Contact General Motors AT 1-800-222-1020, Buick Owners AT 1-800-521-7300, and GMC Owners AT 1-800-462-8782. General Motors' Number Associated With This Recall IS 14048.

THE Affected Vehicles MAY Have HAD Brake Rotors Intended FOR THE Rear OF THE Car Accidentally Installed ON THE Front. THE Rear Rotors, While THE Same Diameter, ARE Thinner and MAY Result IN A Front Brake PAD Detaching From THE Caliper.
Consequence IF A Brake PAD Detaches From Caliper, There MAY BE A Sudden Reduction IN Braking, Lengthening THE Distance Required TO Stop THE Vehicle and Increasing THE Risk OF A Crash.
Remedy GM Will Notify Owners, and Dealers Will Inspect THE Front Brake Rotors, and Install THE Correct Rotors With NEW Brake Pads, AS Necessary, Free OF Charge. THE Recall Began ON June 20, 2014.
