The Good
The 2022 Civic Si boasts a responsive turbocharged engine, ensuring fun driving. Honda's renowned reliability offers peace of mind. Comfortable seats and a well-designed interior enhance the driving experience. Its sleek design appeals emotionally, while its fuel efficiency and strong resale value attract practical buyers. It's a balanced package of performance and practicality.
The Bad
The 2022 Civic Si's weaknesses include the lack of optional performance upgrades from the factory. Some may find the styling conservative. The infotainment system, while functional, isn't the most cutting-edge. Potential buyers should inspect the clutch for signs of wear, as it can be a point of concern with enthusiastic driving. Limited availability can also be an issue.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2022 Honda Civic Si Have?
Recalls for the 11th-generation Civic platform (which the Si is based on) should be monitored, although specific recalls targeting the Si model itself have been minimal as of late 2023. It's always recommended to check the NHTSA website for the latest recall information.
Long-term reliability is generally expected to be good, in line with Honda's reputation. However, the turbocharged engine and more complex electronic systems compared to older Civics mean that proper maintenance is crucial. Regular oil changes, timely servicing of the turbocharger, and attention to any unusual noises or performance dips are recommended. The rev-match system, while helpful, adds complexity that *could* introduce long-term maintenance considerations, although this is not currently a widespread concern. Always consult with a trusted mechanic for pre-purchase inspections on used models.
How long will the 2022 Honda Civic Si last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
There aren't many optional features, as the Si is essentially a single, well-equipped trim. Accessories like all-weather floor mats or appearance packages can be added, but the core tech and safety features are standard.
In terms of safety, the 2022 Honda Civic (upon which the Si is based) received excellent crash-test ratings from both the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). The IIHS awarded the 2022 Civic with its Top Safety Pick+ designation, indicating superior performance in crash tests and crash avoidance technology. These ratings provide confidence in the safety of the Civic Si, given its shared platform and safety features.

How Does the 2022 Honda Civic Si Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of performance, the Civic Si prioritizes handling and driver engagement over outright power. Feature-wise, it's well-equipped, though some rivals offer more customization options. Reliability is a strong suit for the Civic Si. Price-wise, it sits in a competitive sweet spot.
Alternatives? The VW GTI is a good alternative for those prioritizing refinement. The Hyundai Elantra N appeals to buyers seeking maximum performance for the money. The Subaru WRX caters to those who need all-wheel drive. Whether one is "better" depends on individual priorities. For a balanced blend of performance, reliability, and value, the Civic Si remains a compelling choice.

Final Verdict: Is the 2022 Honda Civic Si a Good Sedan?

Decent CarPros: Solid looks exterior and interior. Interior has the classic Honda plastic feel to it but higher quality, the dash is much more sturdy than the prior Hondas I've owned. Shift and clutch feels great. Easy visibility. Infotainment works “most of the timeâ€Â. Corners very well (no body roll, feels confident on the road) Cons: Extremely rough ride, I get that it's a “sports car†but I feel Honda could have done much better in providing a bit more comfort for a daily driven car. It's not a race car at 200hp yet I feel every bump in the road. The infotainment for wireless CarPlay sometimes won't play any sound out of it and the only fix is shutting the car off and back on. The back and door panels have horrible rattles coming out of it. If you're putting a Bose audio system in the car there has to be some sort of sound dampening which Honda seems to have failed on. I stuck weather stripping between the back window and panel and seems to have gotten better. No dual climate, heated seats or any other features. If looking at a decent daily driver with a 6 speed I'd go sport touring for a little more money. Most likely slightly better ride and value for the money. Overall a solid car and reliability is obvious with it being a Honda. Would recommend to someone who doesn't need the extra features and doesn't mine a rough ride.

Everything I Expected and More!I sold Honda for years and I always loved driving the Civic SI. I prefer a manual tranny and this car offers that plus a lot more. It's spacious and the front “racing†style seats hug you! The display is quite large in comparison to other makes in its class. This car performs seamlessly as it always has.

Buyer bewareLet me first say I'd only recommend this car to younger drivers that are not overweight or tall. The interior is not made for large persons.
