What Problems Does the 2019 Infiniti QX80 Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2019 Infiniti QX80, and QX80 models in general, often revolve around the infotainment system. Owners have reported glitches, slow response times, and occasional freezing. While not necessarily frequent, the hydraulic body motion control system (if equipped) can be a source of expensive repairs should it fail. Some owners have also noted issues with the automatic transmission, such as rough shifting or delayed engagement, although this is less common. There have been recalls on QX80 models, including those related to potential fuel pump failures and issues with the rearview camera display. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls before purchasing. Long-term reliability generally appears to be good, especially with regular maintenance, but the body motion control system and infotainment system remain potential areas of concern. Regular servicing of the transmission fluid is recommended to mitigate potential transmission issues. Pre-purchase inspections are advisable to thoroughly assess the condition of these components. As of now, no significant issues are uniquely specific to the 2019 model year in contrast to other model years in the same generation.

How long will the 2019 Infiniti QX80 last?

With good maintenance habits, a 2019 Infiniti QX80 can easily reach 150,000 to 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report reliable service for 10+ years with proper care. Long-term durability is generally strong, thanks to the robust V8 engine and body-on-frame construction. However, potential weaknesses include the aforementioned infotainment system, the hydraulic body motion control system (if equipped), and the transmission. Regular fluid changes, especially for the transmission and differentials, are crucial for longevity. Addressing minor issues promptly can prevent them from escalating into more significant problems down the line. Rust can also be a concern in regions with harsh winters, so regular washing and undercoating are recommended.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2019 Infiniti QX80 comes standard with a dual-screen infotainment system featuring an 8-inch upper display and a 7-inch lower display. Navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are included. A 13-speaker Bose audio system provides excellent sound quality. Driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and a surround-view camera system. Optional features, especially on the Limited trim, include a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 8-inch screens, heated second-row seats, and an advanced climate control system. Safety features include anti-lock brakes, stability control, and multiple airbags.

The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) provide crash test ratings. The 2019 QX80 generally performs well in crash tests, earning good ratings in most categories. However, it's crucial to check the latest ratings from these organizations for the most up-to-date information. The suite of driver-assistance features contributes to overall safety, making it a secure choice for families. The intuitive integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enhances the overall user experience.

2019 Infiniti QX80 Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2019 Infiniti QX80 had an MSRP ranging from approximately $65,000 to $90,000, depending on the trim level and options. As of today's used market, prices typically range from $35,000 to $55,000, depending on mileage, condition, and location. Depreciation is moderate for a luxury SUV of this size. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition (both mechanical and cosmetic), maintenance history, and the presence of desirable options like the rear-seat entertainment system. Vehicles with a clean title and complete service records command higher prices. Market demand for large SUVs also influences resale values.

2019 Infiniti QX80 Cost of Ownership

The 2019 Infiniti QX80 is generally considered a costly vehicle to own. Insurance premiums are typically higher due to its luxury status and high value. Fuel economy is poor, resulting in significant fuel expenses. Maintenance and repair costs can also be substantial, especially for specialized components like the hydraulic body motion control system. While generally reliable, repairs can be expensive. Budgeting for these factors is crucial for prospective owners. It is not an economical choice.

Insurance for a 2019 Infiniti QX80 is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Wagon with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2019 Infiniti QX80 Compare to Other Wagon?

The 2019 Infiniti QX80 competes with other full-size luxury SUVs such as the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Lexus LX 570, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. In terms of performance, the QX80's V8 engine is competitive, but some rivals offer more powerful or fuel-efficient options. Feature-wise, the QX80 is well-equipped, but its infotainment system can feel dated compared to the newer systems in the Escalade and Navigator. Reliability is generally good, but the Lexus LX 570 is often considered more reliable in the long term. Price-wise, the QX80 often undercuts some of its rivals, offering good value for money.

Alternatives to the QX80 include the Cadillac Escalade, which offers more advanced technology and a more modern interior. The Lincoln Navigator provides a more luxurious and refined experience. The Lexus LX 570 is known for its exceptional reliability and off-road capabilities. The Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class offers a more sophisticated driving experience and a wider range of engine options. If you prioritize reliability above all else, the Lexus LX 570 is a better choice. If you value the latest technology and a more luxurious interior, the Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator are strong contenders. However, if you seek a good balance of features, performance, and value, the QX80 remains a compelling option.

Final Verdict: Is the 2019 Infiniti QX80 a Good Wagon?

The 2019 Infiniti QX80 is ideal for families who need a spacious and comfortable SUV with strong towing capabilities. It's worth buying, especially on the used market, if you prioritize value and don't require the absolute latest technology. A used QX80 Luxe offers a good balance of features and price. It’s best to get one with a comprehensive service history. A pre-purchase inspection is highly recommended to check for potential issues with the body motion control and infotainment systems. If you are okay with older technology and are able to find one at the right price in good condition, it is a worthwhile purchase.
