The Good
The 2017 VW CC offers a blend of performance and style. Its turbocharged engine provides responsive acceleration. The comfortable interior and smooth ride appeal to practical buyers, while the sleek, coupe-like design and relatively affordable price compared to luxury competitors attract those seeking emotional satisfaction. Efficiency is decent, and the overall value proposition is strong for those wanting a premium feel without a premium price tag.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2017 Volkswagen CC include higher maintenance costs compared to mainstream sedans. Some owners have reported issues with the timing chain tensioner, which can lead to significant engine damage if not addressed. The rear seating can feel cramped due to the sloping roofline. Also, be mindful of potential electrical issues that are common with VW vehicles of this era.

What Problems Does the 2017 Volkswagen CC Have?
Recalls can be checked on the NHTSA website using the VIN. It is crucial to check for any outstanding recalls and ensure they have been addressed. Long-term reliability can be a concern if maintenance is neglected. Following the recommended service schedule, especially with regards to oil changes and timing chain maintenance, is crucial. Suspension components, like control arm bushings, may also require replacement over time. The DSG transmission, if equipped, requires regular servicing to prevent issues.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features may include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and park distance control. Not all of these features were standard, so it's essential to check the specific vehicle's equipment list. Safety features included standard antilock brakes, stability control, and a suite of airbags.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA should be checked for the specific model year. While specific ratings can vary slightly year to year, the CC generally performed well in crash tests. However, always consult official sources for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Some models also offer automatic emergency braking as part of optional safety packages.

How Does the 2017 Volkswagen CC Compare to Other Sedan?
Alternatives to consider include the Acura TLX for better reliability and available V6 power, the Lexus ES for a more luxurious and reliable experience, and the Mazda 6 for a balance of style, performance, and reliability at a lower price point. Another alternative would be a newer VW Arteon, the CC's spiritual successor. If reliability is a top priority, the CC may not be the best choice, but it offers a unique combination of style and affordability that some buyers find appealing. The Kia Stinger is also a worthy alternative, providing similar styling with improved warranty and performance.

Final Verdict: Is the 2017 Volkswagen CC a Good Sedan?

Does Everything Right With No PretensionThe CC does all the basics really well and with a dash of sportiness and style. I've had my 2015 CC-R 2.0 6MT for five years and it's been as reliable as a wood stove. Exterior styling won't age. Interior is Germanic with form following function -- nothing fancy. Engine is torquey and responsive. Ride is smooth and compliant. It soaks up bumps without feeling cushy or isolating the driver from the road. Handling is sharp and precise. Highway mileage is in the high 30s. It doesn't proclaim status, but if you're into artful subtlety it's a satisfying drive and ownership experience.

A very reliable vehicle to ownThis is a real sports car with good performance and reliability and it is fast for a turbo 4. The inside is roomy but tight because of the styling. Overall I was well pleased.

Great Grand TourerI love this Car! its a great grandtourer, nice and sporty and fast, good comfortable seats and ride. the interior is spacious. head room is a little lacking and the trunk is acceptable but not huge. the lane keep and collision avoidence are great and make it great for commuting. gas mileage can easily get the claimed MPG or less if you are having fun in the car! the only real downfall is the tires. VW known issue, they cup if you dont rotate the tires often. every 5K miles.

Buen auto por fuera...Por fuera el CC luce espectacular. Por dentro se siente como subirse a otro auto de menor precio y categora. VWG debe repensar ese modelo. Por dentro necesita ms fuerza! Ms diseo acorde a su precio.

5th VW in FamilyOur second CC. Love the car. Great value for the money, fun to drive, lots of features both safety and technology. Interconnectivity via Apple or Android is nice addition.

Sexy German Car and a BargainThe VW CC is not a well known vehicle. It's a good looking german 4 door coupe. When I tell people what I bought, they haven't heard of it and I like that. It's not cookie cutter. It's packed with features and technology and styling like a CLS Mercedes for less than half the cost. Apple car play works so much better than the uConnect I had in my last car.
