What Problems Does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK, and similar model years, often revolve around the infotainment system (Uconnect) experiencing glitches or freezing. Electrical issues, such as problems with sensors or the vehicle's computer system, have also been reported. Some owners have noted concerns with the automatic transmission, including rough shifting or hesitation.

Recalls can vary, so checking the NHTSA website with the vehicle's VIN is crucial for the most up-to-date information. Generally, Jeep has issued recalls for various issues over the years, including problems with airbags, fuel systems, and electrical components.

Long-term reliability can be a concern, as with many vehicles. Proper maintenance is key to mitigating potential issues. Specifically, ensure timely fluid changes (engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant) and address any warning lights or unusual noises promptly. Some owners have reported issues with the Quadra-Lift air suspension system (if equipped) over time, so inspecting its condition is important when considering a used model. Prior model years (earlier in the WK2 generation) have sometimes been associated with more frequent issues, but the 2022 model should benefit from refinements made throughout the generation.

How long will the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK last?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK, with proper maintenance, can realistically provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-15 years of service. Longevity depends heavily on adherence to the recommended maintenance schedule. Key factors impacting durability include regular oil changes, transmission fluid service, and addressing any mechanical issues promptly.

Weaknesses over time often involve the air suspension (if equipped), electrical components, and potential for increased repair costs as the vehicle ages. Rust can also be a concern in regions with harsh winters and road salt, so undercarriage inspection is vital.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK boasts a decent array of tech, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features.

Built-in Tech & Entertainment: Uconnect infotainment system with touchscreen display (size varies by trim), Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and available premium audio systems (e.g., Alpine or Harman Kardon). Navigation is available on higher trims.

Driver-Assistance Features: Standard features often include a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Optional features or standard on higher trims may include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams.

Safety Features: Standard safety features include multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, and electronic stability control.

Optional Features: Options can include a panoramic sunroof, upgraded leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, power liftgate, and various off-road packages.

Crash-Test Ratings: While specific 2022 WK ratings should be verified on the IIHS and NHTSA websites, the Grand Cherokee generally performs well in crash tests. Check those sites for the most accurate and up-to-date ratings.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK ranged from approximately $38,000 for the base Laredo trim to over $55,000 for the top-tier Summit trim. Used market prices currently vary significantly based on mileage, condition, and trim level. Expect to find them ranging from the low $30,000s to the mid $40,000s.

It's worth buying used if you find a well-maintained model with a solid service history. Opting for higher trims like Limited or Overland provides more desirable features. Consider the V6 engine for better fuel economy unless you specifically need the V8's towing capacity. A thorough pre-purchase inspection is crucial to identify any potential issues before buying. The newer generation Grand Cherokee (without the "WK") offers improved features and technology, but the WK represents a good value for the price.

Love the WK!

My lease was almost up on my 2019 Grand Cherokee LTD. I didn't like the new look of the 2022 so I was planning on leasing a different brand altogether. So happy they came out with the WK model. It's exactly like the original Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD. Why mess with perfection?

The gc limited wk is just as nice, the 2022 has some really nice features, like when you leave truck with the key it's starts a pattern beep to let you know the keys are with you. The comfort &tight suspension is there. The grand cherokee wk is great truck. The island dealership is fabulous in staten Island. My family has bought numerous trucks there. The service department is great also. All the staff are very attentive. Great jeep & great dealership

Software Bugs

Purchased a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve in February. It has many SW issues that neither Jeep nor the dealer can fix. The issues are the Phone not connecting, the Weather not loading, the profiles not saved, the seats not remembering their saved positions....we have other issues from our trip. The radio would not show what songs were playing on SirusXM or USB. Also the radio would nor show Apps window, just flash. The radio also flashed across on the screen. I could not get a video on that one, but I have video on the Apps button not working. In short, it is NOT the car or brand you want to purchase. I'm trying to get rid of this car ASAP. I hope they will buy it back since it has so many issues. It is NOT wat was advertised.

2022 Grand Cherokee Limited 4×4

This is the third Grand Cherokee I have owned. The other 2 were 1996 and 2000. The only reason I got away from them is the gas mileage. My new 2022 is averaging around 21 mpg right now but only has 500 miles. In time it might get even better. It is getting better then my 2015 Enclave so I am pleased. I am VEARY PLEASED WITH EVERYTHING THING about my new Jeep Grand Cherokee!
