The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, a subcompact SUV, continues Subaru's tradition of offering capable and practical vehicles. It builds upon years of success, offering a blend of car-like handling and SUV versatility. Key trims include the Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited. The pricing range typically starts in the mid $20,000s and extends to the low $30,000s. Its standard all-wheel drive and rugged styling make it a popular choice.
The Good

The 2024 Crosstrek offers all-weather capability thanks to standard AWD, appealing to practical buyers. Subaru's reputation for reliability provides peace of mind. A comfortable ride and redesigned interior enhance the driving experience. The Crosstrek's rugged design and available vibrant colors appeal to those seeking adventure and individuality.

The Bad

The base engine can feel underpowered, especially when fully loaded or going uphill. Some reviewers note the infotainment system can be slow to respond. Taller passengers may find the rear seat legroom limited. The continuously variable transmission (CVT), while efficient, isn't always the most engaging.

What Problems Does the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Have?

While the Crosstrek generally enjoys a good reliability reputation, some owners have reported issues. Infotainment system glitches, particularly with the touchscreen freezing or being unresponsive, have been noted. Early model years of the previous generation (2018-2023) experienced some isolated reports of excessive oil consumption, although Subaru addressed this. The 2024 model is too new to have extensive long-term reliability data, but potential buyers should monitor for any emerging trends. Recalls are always a possibility; checking the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any active recalls related to the 2024 Crosstrek is advisable. Premature wear of brake pads has also been reported by some owners of previous model years, so this is worth monitoring. Overall, the Crosstrek remains relatively reliable, but staying informed about potential issues is prudent.

How long will the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek last?

With proper maintenance, the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek can reasonably be expected to last for 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-15 years. Subarus are known for their longevity, especially when regular oil changes and other scheduled maintenance are performed. The engine and drivetrain are generally durable. Potential weaknesses could include the continuously variable transmission (CVT), which may require more frequent servicing compared to traditional automatic transmissions. Keeping an eye on suspension components and addressing minor issues promptly will contribute to long-term durability.

I love this car! I had an outback previously, and knew i wanted another suburu. It's the perfect size for me! My kids are older, and I don't have to lug sports equipment and kids around anymore. The outback was great for that! It's not too small, and not too big. It's perfect!

I’ve had my 2024 Crosstrek for 11 months and I love it. Smooth ride. No frills. Not flashy. Handles slippery road conditions like a champ. The control/infotainment panel is integrated into dash which is great. However those controls occasionally lag or reset themselves, which is annoying. Still can’t connect to Starlink. Would love it if rear seats could recline at all and would like more cargo space, but I knew what I was getting. I hope to drive it for 20 years.

This is my first Subaru and I know a lot of people love them. I thought I would love it, but I was wrong. If you live near the woods or just run around town then it is probably an outstanding choice, but if you ever need to take a road trip or need power to get into traffic then probably not the best choice. The engine has no power even if you use the [S] mode and the seats are super uncomfortable for anything more than a few hours on the road. Then there is the road noise, which was a shock. If all you do is a quick test drive near the dealership then the first time you hit the highway might surprise you. I have owned Jeeps with less road noise :).... While I like the design and gas mileage, I am a one and done owner. There are too many other options out there and in this price range. But while not for me, it might be great for you.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek comes standard with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system (Base, Premium) featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Higher trims (Sport, Limited) boast an 8.0-inch touchscreen. Available entertainment features include a Harman Kardon premium audio system. Standard on all trims is Subaru's EyeSight driver-assistance suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist. Optional features include blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking. Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) are typically strong for Subaru vehicles. The 2024 Crosstrek is expected to perform well in crash tests, providing a high level of safety for occupants. The Starlink connected services offer features like automatic collision notification and SOS emergency assistance. These features, combined with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, contribute to a safe and confident driving experience.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Prices and Market Value

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek had a starting MSRP in the mid $20,000s, with higher trims reaching the low $30,000s. As a relatively new model, used market prices are still close to the original MSRP. Subarus typically hold their value well due to their reputation for reliability and standard all-wheel drive. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, trim level, and optional features. Models with the 2.5-liter engine and popular features like the Harman Kardon audio system tend to command higher prices on the used market. Expect relatively low depreciation in the initial years of ownership.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Cost of Ownership

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is generally considered economical to own. Insurance costs are typically average for its class. Fuel economy is respectable, especially with the 2.0-liter engine. Maintenance costs are reasonable, with routine servicing being relatively affordable. Subaru parts are generally readily available. While some repairs can be more expensive, the Crosstrek's overall reliability helps keep long-term ownership costs manageable. Budgeting for regular maintenance and potential CVT servicing is advisable.

I’ve owned my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport for a little

I’ve owned my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport for a little over a month now and have been very happy with it. The engine provides enough pep and power to drive on highways without any issues, plenty of passing power when needed. I love the in vehicle telematics and technology features in this car as well. Apple CarPlay was a requirement in all of the vehicles I considered, and the Crosstrek really integrates this well. Interior is very comfortable and looks great, the exterior looks amazing. The added safety features that are Subaru standards are a definite plus: steering-assisted headlights, Eyesight and X-Mode all work wonderfully. Complaints? Only a couple. I do wish there was a little less plastic on the exterior cladding. I wish Subaru made the rear liftgate LED light standard equipment instead of an optional part you have to buy and install yourself (the part costs $50 and vastly improves storage area visibility at night). And while the boxer engine design is interesting, I can see it will really make DIY spark plug maintenance a real chore. Otherwise, it’s an excellent car.

5 MPG average less than 2020 model with same specs and

5 MPG average less than 2020 model with same specs and tires on same roads. Noisy aerodynamics of hood and windshield. Wiper aerodynamic covers in well corners rattle and I had to tape them down. We’ll see what the dealer does. Off road capabilities are improved and stiffened body helps with this and reduced interior road noise. The CVT does much more hunting for the proper ratio and does so more abruptly. I’d imagine the MPG loss has to do with this and the new hood and front end design.

I wanted a vehicle with a good safety rating and few, if any, recalls. Subaru was the only brand out there. I was able to find a vehicle with seats low enough for my handicapped husband to transition into, but still give me the all wheel drive and reliability I wanted. So far the gas mileage is great and though at first I wasn't keen on the stop and start feature at stoplights, I am realizing it will save me money and wear and tear on my engine in the long run. I am very happy with my purchase.

I did my research on line, and went for a test drive. Love the quick acceleration and handling. I climb a 8% grade to “ get out on the hill” after going to town for groceries etc. The Crosstrek performs awesomely! Enjoying my new ride! Glad I leased a Subaru.

I purchased the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness

I purchased the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness based on expected reliability. I had a bad experience with reliability with another manufacturer's small 2019 SUV. The driving experience is very satisfying, I get about 30MPG on the highway. The interior is very comfortable and nicely appointed. I wish a power rear hatch, and power passenger seat were available. Two glitches with the car are the wireless charger does not charge my iphone 15 promax and there is a software glitch where the mic frequently mutes on it's own causing callers to think the call dropped. This is supposed to be corrected in the next week with a software update. That said I am very happy with the car.

This is a review of a CrossTrac loaner car from a Subaru

This is a review of a CrossTrac loaner car from a Subaru dealership while my Ascent was in for service. My likes: exterior styling-great looking small SUV, fun to drive around town-somewhat peppy engine, great commuter car-easy to park, feel safe while driving-great visibility and excellent crash test worthiness, fantastic AC-keeps interior of vehicle even in hot desert climate, always AWD, decent room for backseat passengers. My dislikes: Subaru seems to have eliminated headrests that tilt-this has always been a favorite of mine and a huge reason I have owned 7 Subarus, Premier trim seats not the most comfortable, needs a bit more horsepower- when passing other vehicles on highway one must plan plenty of time, not a lot of exterior color choices since many are dark metallic -my preference is white, beige, light gray, light blue, not very budget friendly-SUV pricing in general remains rather high. Would I recommend this vehicle? Absolutely!
