What Problems Does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class often revolve around its transmission. Some owners have reported rough shifting or hesitation, particularly at lower speeds. Electronics can also be a source of concern, with issues related to the infotainment system, sensors, and other electronic components. The suspension can feel harsh, leading to complaints about ride comfort, especially on models with larger wheels.

Recalls for the 2016 CLA-Class may vary depending on the specific production date and equipment. It's crucial to check the NHTSA website for any open recalls related to your specific VIN. Common recall areas often involve safety-related components, such as airbags or fuel systems.

Long-term reliability is a mixed bag. While some owners experience few problems, others report more frequent visits to the repair shop. Issues related to the engine's oil consumption have also been noted. Regular maintenance, including timely oil changes and fluid checks, is essential to mitigate potential problems and extend the vehicle's lifespan. Thorough pre-purchase inspection is highly recommended.

How long will the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class last?

With diligent maintenance, a 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class can realistically achieve 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-15 years of service. However, consistent adherence to the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule is crucial. Long-term durability weaknesses often manifest as transmission issues, electronic glitches, and suspension wear. Models with neglected maintenance are more likely to experience premature component failure. Preventative maintenance, such as regular fluid changes and inspections, can significantly extend the vehicle's lifespan. Rust can also be a concern in regions with harsh winters.

How Does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class competes with vehicles like the Audi A3, BMW 2 Series, and Acura ILX. In terms of performance, the AMG CLA45 outperforms most of its rivals, while the CLA250 offers adequate power. The A3 offers a more refined interior and slightly better handling than the CLA. The BMW 2 Series provides a more engaging driving experience. The Acura ILX is more reliable and affordable but lacks the prestige and sporty styling of the CLA.

Regarding features, the CLA offers a comparable level of tech and comfort, although some rivals may have more advanced driver-assistance systems. In terms of reliability, the Audi A3 and BMW 2 Series tend to score higher than the CLA. Price-wise, the CLA is generally competitive, but the Acura ILX is more affordable.

Alternatives to consider include the Audi A3 for its refined interior and handling, the BMW 2 Series for its driving dynamics, and the Lexus IS for its reliability. If a sporty driving experience is a priority, the BMW is a better choice. If reliability is paramount, the Lexus IS is worth considering.

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is ideal for buyers who prioritize stylish design and the Mercedes-Benz brand at an accessible price point. It's worth buying if you're aware of its potential reliability issues and are prepared for higher maintenance costs. A used CLA250 in good condition with a thorough pre-purchase inspection can be a decent value. The AMG CLA45 is a great option for those seeking a high-performance compact car. Avoid models with a questionable service history or signs of neglect. A certified pre-owned (CPO) model offers added peace of mind with an extended warranty.

There are no words to describe the felling of owning and driving this well built vehicle. You not only look but feel like a million dollars but don't have to pay that much for it.

Space ship

The Mercedes Benz CLA is top of the line luxury. With the mounted tv screen you have the option to install a back up camera without having to modify your deck. This car has plenty of custom features that makes driving it extremely fun. From the interior lights to the bluetooth feature which takes listening to music or talking on your phone to another level. It rides and handles like a sports car and has an exotic look. I'd recommend this car to anyone.
