The Good
The 2000 Mazda Millenia offered a comfortable ride and a sophisticated design that still looks good today. The Miller-cycle engine provided smooth power delivery. For practical buyers, it presented good value for its features. For emotional buyers, the refined interior and distinctive engine created a sense of luxury and uniqueness.
The Bad
The 2000 Mazda Millenia's weaknesses included potential issues with the Miller-cycle engine's complexity, which could lead to higher repair costs. Some owners reported electrical problems and premature wear of suspension components. Rust could also be a concern, especially in regions with harsh winters, so inspect carefully.

What Problems Does the 2000 Mazda Millenia Have?
Recalls for the 2000 Mazda Millenia were not extensive, but it's crucial to check the NHTSA website for any outstanding safety recalls related to specific components, such as airbags or fuel system components. Long-term reliability could be a concern due to the age of the vehicle and the potential for expensive repairs related to the Miller-cycle engine. Regular maintenance and careful inspection are essential to mitigate these risks. Some model years earlier than 2000 had issues with automatic transmission failures, although this was less prevalent in the 2000 model year. However, it's always advisable to check the transmission fluid condition and shift quality before purchasing.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features consisted of dual front airbags. Side airbags were not standard. Some markets had optional features that were not available in others. Optional features included a sunroof, leather upholstery, and power-adjustable seats.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) should be researched for the specific model year. Generally, the Millenia performed reasonably well in crash tests for its era, but it lacked the advanced safety technology of newer vehicles. Check the official NHTSA and IIHS websites for specific ratings. Remember that safety standards and testing procedures have evolved considerably since 2000, so comparisons to modern vehicles should be made cautiously.

2000 Mazda Millenia Prices and Market Value
Depreciation has been substantial due to the car's age, potential reliability concerns (especially with the Miller-cycle engine), and the availability of newer, more technologically advanced vehicles. Factors affecting resale value include the car's overall condition, maintenance history, mileage, and whether it has the desirable Miller-cycle engine (which can be a double-edged sword due to potential maintenance costs).

How Does the 2000 Mazda Millenia Compare to Other Sedan?
Reliability was a significant weakness for the Millenia, particularly the Miller-cycle engine, compared to the rock-solid reliability of the Camry and Accord. Price-wise, the used Millenia is very affordable now, but potential repair costs can offset the initial savings.
Alternatives to the Millenia include the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord for their superior reliability and lower long-term ownership costs. The Nissan Maxima offered a sportier driving experience. The Buick Regal provided a similar level of comfort and features, and might be slightly more reliable than the Millenia. If reliability is a primary concern, the Camry or Accord would be better choices.

Check engine light was on more that the ABS AND TCS light when the lights were out the car drove fine it was nice but that was as rare! The car was in the shop 7 times in 2 months, yes 7! The car was still not fixed after $1288 in work, there is a reason this car was stopped in production, I have a Lincoln ls and wouldn't trade at all

Very fast car for the money. The only problem ever experienced was with the O2 sensors. They periodically would trigger a Check Engine, but would go out a few days later. I think this is a known problem that the sensors incorrectly triggering the CE. Very fast car for the money.

Never will buy a Mazda againElectrical problems. I have had to replace one by one the electric door locks at apprx $444.00 for each door. Sensor problems. Window problems with leaks. I have fixed so many things on this car I might as well keep it forever. Purchased it used from a neighbor and previous to that I had a 2000 Acura TL. Now that was a car. The exterior beautiful but this car has no pick up or soul. I would never purchase a Mazda product.

My favorite car I have ownedI wish that Mazda was making a full sized car today. I would buy it. When I bought my Millenia in 2000 I got it for $20800 because it was the base model. I had driven the S with the Miller cycle engine, but I decided I didn' need it. The regular V6 was just fine. I was right. This car is great. After 150,000 miles I have done the routine maintainance and replaced a few bad sensors. But it has never left my stranded I love this car.
