The Good
The 2015 Volt offers impressive electric performance with instant torque, and the gasoline engine provides peace of mind for longer trips. It's known for its comfortable ride and relatively quiet cabin. Its efficiency is excellent for daily commutes, and the value proposition is strong on the used market, appealing to both environmentally conscious and budget-minded buyers.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2015 Volt include limited rear passenger space due to the battery pack. Some owners have reported occasional electrical system glitches. Furthermore, higher mileage examples may exhibit battery degradation, which can reduce the all-electric range. Prospective buyers should also inspect the charging system for proper function.

How Does the 2015 Chevrolet Volt Compare to Other Sedan?
The Volt's unique selling point was its EREV system; unlike a traditional hybrid that mainly assists the gasoline engine, the Volt's electric motor primarily drives the wheels. When comparing features, the Volt offers a decent set of technology for its time.
Alternatives to consider include the Toyota Prius Prime (newer model with improved electric range), and if you're willing to forgo the plug-in aspect, a standard Toyota Prius offers excellent fuel economy and reliability. The Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid is also a worthy contender with a more modern design and similar range to the Volt. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual needs and priorities.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 Chevrolet Volt a Good Sedan?

Great carI had this car for about 1 year. I purchased it as a lease return so it was well maintained. I used it for commuting to work only and was able to get to and from work on a single charge. So I've only used one tank of gas during the entire time I had it and just filled it up last week.

Cheapest Car To Drive In AmericaThe threat of $4.00/gallon gas may be over for now, but this car can save you hundreds of dollars per year in gasoline expenses. If you never drive over 40 miles per day, you will never put a drop of gasoline in the car at all. The lifetime fuel mileage on my Chevy Volt is over 155 MPG. The Volt is NOT a HYBRID, but an electric car with a gasoline engine to back it up. No range anxiety like in an all electric car. If you want a cheap to drive car, you cannot do better than the Volt. I have enjoyed owning this car very much. It is comfortable, quiet, cheap to drive and insure, and it is sporty looking. Highly recommended.

Very reliable and fun to driveI am impressed with the Chevy Volt (2015) and have had no maintenance issues in 42000 miles mostly electric miles. I usually get about 45 miles electric range per charge which is adequate for my commute. The driving experience feels very solid and sporty with lots of power at any speed. The positive - money saved on gas. The negative - the back seat is a bit cramped but rarely used.

Great commuter carI got this 2015 Volt in 2019 as my sub $15K commuter car. The wife took over the Subaru Outback which serves as the kid hauler and family trip car. The Volt has not lost any battery capacity (the batteries are liquid cooled) and can do my 20 mile round trip twice without plugging in. One month after buying the gas engine hasn't turned on yet. Very peppy in Sport mode, decent handling and mine is the premier that came with leather seats and Bose stereo. This my first American car and I'm happy with the build quality. The two main draw backs for me are the extremely low front air dam, which drags my very mild driveway, and the hump in the back between the rear seats where I usually put a guitar. Also, the center console is definitely different than any other car I've owned. I looked at the Nissan Leaf and the VW eGolf. I like hatchbacks, and I liked that the eGolf looked pretty much just like a gas powered Golf inside and out, but it wasn't sold in my state (North Carolina) so no one, even the VW dealership would work on it. The Leaf is probably the most practical electric car under $15K, but it just wasn't for me. I could not get confortable in the seat and hated the big pit in the trunk. The rear seats fold down, but the back is so low it can never be flat. So for me the Volt has been a great intro to EVs. Fun, comfortable, efficient.

Most Fuel Efficient Long Range Vehicle By FarThis car has been wonderful. I have driven across the country in it, between California and New York 3x. It is the most reliable and low maintenance car I've ever owned, not to mention mega fuel efficient.

Great car!Great car for a hybrid. Saved me a lot of gas money! First 40 miles on battery. All cars should be this way. Car has great pick up. Don't be fooled by BS reviews.

The quietest car I've ever ownedThis car is great, quiet, easy to drive, comfortable seats. I purchased use with low miles and have no issues, average about 38 miles on electric and 40 mpg when using gas engine.

Ahead of its timeThis in so many ways is a perfect vehicle. It?s a roomy hatchback which makes it extremely useful. It provides a reasonable electric only range for most daily commutes and errands and then is able to be used for trips with a gas generator providing power to the electric motor. The car is fun to drive too. The bad side is the ridiculous first generation iPod inspired center stack. It?s a joke as are most touch pad designs. Give me dials please.

Best car I've ever owned! Its like a space ship inside and I love it. I especially like that since I've had it, I haven't used any gas in 6 days! Nice ride too. I no longer have to give the greedy oil companies my money! What's not to like?
