The Good
The 2014 Chevrolet SS offers exhilarating performance thanks to its potent V8. It is surprisingly comfortable for a performance sedan, making it suitable for daily driving. Styling is understated yet aggressive, appealing to those seeking a sleeper car. While not the most efficient, its reliability and strong resale value make it a compelling package.
The Bad
The 2014 Chevrolet SS has some weaknesses. Fuel economy isn't great. Some owners have reported issues with the electric power steering. The Magnetic Ride Control suspension, if equipped, can be expensive to repair. The rear differential cooler has also been known to leak on some models. Inspect these areas carefully before purchasing.

What Problems Does the 2014 Chevrolet SS Have?
Another reported problem is related to the Magnetic Ride Control suspension (if equipped), with some owners experiencing leaks or failures of the shocks, which can be costly to repair. Rear differential cooler line leaks have also been reported.
Regarding recalls, it's crucial to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any outstanding recalls related to the specific VIN of the vehicle. While there haven't been widespread, major recalls specifically for the 2014 model year, it's always prudent to verify.
Long-term reliability concerns generally revolve around the typical wear and tear of high-performance components. The LS3 engine itself is known to be robust, but regular maintenance and careful driving habits are essential. Also, the 6L80 automatic transmission, while generally reliable, benefits from regular fluid changes to ensure smooth operation over time. The rear axles can sometimes be a source of noise or vibration as they age.

Final Verdict: Is the 2014 Chevrolet SS a Good Sedan?

2014 CHEVY SS - Pure Adrenaline! The best car I’ve ever owned! That includes my 1978 BMW 320i that I had to drive while I was in college. Great handling & acceleration for a Sport Sedan.

So far so good.Awesome to drive. Great to look at. Handles great. Stops on a dime and gets up and goes. Sleeper of a car. A 4 door corvett.
greeneye150 on February 25, 2019
hard hitting v8this car is for the enthusiast. 415hp 415ft lbs torque, brembo brakes, upgraded rotors and pads, car is a collectors item and can be used for racing or modding
TonesGTO on February 21, 2019
Very fun and sleek.Great performance in a very low key package. You can have the same fun as a Camaro/Mustang with 4doors and with out the dirty looks from law enforcement.

True American Muscle SleeperThis is a fantastic car, limited production so definitely unique. The car is very quick when you get on the gas, but when cruising it is so quiet inside and very subtle. The car may be slightly collectible one day as there were only a few made. A few low mile examples are around if you wanted one to add to a collection. This is also a great car if you want quick but still need a daily driver. Between the comfortable seats, navigation and Bose sound system, it doesn't get much better than the SS especially for the price, the performance wont be had elsewhere. The only complaint I have about the car comes from the inside, the rear windows are auto roll down but not going up and it also does not have homeland. Those two minor things can actually be changed so not a huge dealbreaker and for me even if they couldn't be added then I still wouldn't shy away from the car.

Car is a good sports carThe Chevy ss has everything I need but only bad thing is that they only made the car for 4 years and the best year the made the car was 2015

Great car and real head-turner!!I absolutely love the SS! I use a sedan alot so I got an SS. It hasnt disappointed me yet! Plenty of power and fun!

Made in Australia. Excellent workmanship! The car had only two options, moon roof and full size spare. EVERYTHING else was in the base price! LS3-6.2 V-8. It's a four door Corvette. $25,000 less than a CTS-V. If they were still making them I would buy another.
All power components work absolutely perfect on September 13, 2017
bay ownerAll regular maintenance has been performed on this truck. The tires are in great condition, and the brakes work well.

Great test drive!I have been looking for a bigger 4 door performance sedan to accomodate my growing family. I already own a SUV and a Wagon..so my personal fun vehicle needs to be replaced. It is great..but too small to fit the family of 4 now if i want to go out for a fun drive. The list of 4 door performace sedans that are a few years old (V8'S) is not long. I don't want the maintenance cost of a BMW or a Mercedes...so this vehicle was my target. Cars.com pointed me to a dealer who had the exact SS i was looking for in stock. Made the appointment and headed over to see it. The car is BIG...I'm 6 foot and 350 lbs and i could sit in the back behind the drivers seat adjusted to me drving with no problem. Trunk is big. And of course the drivetrain is awesome..LS3 and 6 speed paddle shift auto. The drivers seat was a bit hard..think some rear numbness may occur on longer drives. Dual zone climate control was great...and the sound and power..again...awesome. Would be a very fun car for the daily slog and for some fun on a backroad too. I will own one of these at some point..just have to keep my eye on the market for them.
