What Problems Does the 2012 Jaguar XF Have?
Recalls for the 2012 XF were issued for issues such as fuel leaks and problems with the airbag system. It's crucial to check the vehicle's history for completed recall repairs.
Long-term reliability concerns include the potential for increased maintenance costs due to the complexity of the vehicle's systems and the availability of parts. While the engine itself is generally robust, ancillary components and electrical systems can be prone to failure over time. Regular maintenance and proactive repairs are essential to mitigate these risks. The XF, while stylish and enjoyable to drive, doesn't have the best reliability reputation compared to some of its rivals. Prospective buyers should be aware of these potential issues and factor them into their purchasing decision.
How long will the 2012 Jaguar XF last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features include multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, and traction control.
The infotainment system, while functional, can feel dated compared to newer systems. It might lack features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some owners have reported that system is slow to respond to input and can occasionally freeze or malfunction.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) should be researched specifically for the 2012 model year to get accurate data. Generally, the XF performed well in crash tests, offering good occupant protection. The availability of advanced safety features like blind-spot monitoring enhances safety, but these were not standard on all trims. The XF balanced luxury with tech and safety, though the tech is now showing its age.

How Does the 2012 Jaguar XF Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of price, the XF can be more affordable on the used market compared to the German brands. However, potential repair costs should be factored in. The Audi A6 offers a good balance of performance, features, and style. If reliability is a top priority, the Lexus GS is the best alternative. The BMW 5 Series offers a sportier driving experience and a wider range of engine options. While the XF offers a unique blend of British luxury and performance, its reliability shortcomings make it a less compelling choice for some buyers. The German rivals and Lexus offer more well-rounded packages.

If you want a car that feels like flying this is it.If you want a car that feels like flying this is it. In long trips the powerful engine and cruise control make driving much less tiring. I have replaced the air compressor and water pump. I hear this is normal and you should plan on a water pump. I did the timing chain retro fit and now this car is the best car ever. If you love to drive and are willing to pay the maintenance you will love this car. Ask about timing chain retro fit for the 5.0 liter engine.

Better than my 87 t type and 2016 charger 6.4.Owned the car for 1 1/2 years with 80000 miles. Only problem has been the pot holes of Philadelphia streets. 1 flat tire and 1 damaged rim. Otherwise, for a 9 year old car it's super . People can't believe it's that old and runs so well. Yeah, it's super fast too.

Most beautiful and fastest car I've ownedI've owned many cars from the 60's to current. This car is so far the fastest and one of the most good looking cars on the road today. The Jag is unique, there only a few on the road compared to Mercedes , BMW and Audi. It stands out with a nice interior and beautiful exterior. If you want something fun and different that stands out this is the car.

So far so GoodLove it so far. Have to get use to it. Couple of times I hit 90 mph. Smooth ride. That's all I can say for now. Only been owning it a few hours

Great 5.0 V8Always loved the look of the second gen XF, and pulled the trigger on a 2012 XF portfolio with 49000 miles. Can't say I wasn't nervous about reliability. The car now has 76000 miles and still runs and drives like new. Only issue was a water pump replacement, covered under warranty at 60000 miles. Dealer service has been excellent and the car is a blast to drive. And it still looks as sexy today as it did from day one. Sad they got rid of the V8, the following year. Guess it will be a supercharged V6 for me in the future.

Reliability issues.I own a 2012 XF Supercharged V8 Portfolio. I love the car especially on long trips. Very comfortable. The problem is with reliability and cost of repair. So far in the last 2 years I've had to replace the water pump, the trunk latch, a computer system, and now the fuel pump. The water pump charge was$984, the trunk latch $380 the computer $2065.55 and the fuel pump $1,424.27. the repair cost on this car are much more than my previous Jaguar S Type. I had no problems with it at all so I had no problem purchasing another Jaguar. The XF had had many issues with the car. It will be my last Jaguar
