What Problems Does the 2015 Dodge Dart Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2015 Dodge Dart center around a few key areas. The 1.4L MultiAir Turbo engine is known for potential oil leaks and turbocharger failures, leading to costly repairs. The Fiat-sourced dual-clutch transmission (DCT) has also been a source of complaints, with reports of jerky shifting, hesitation, and complete failure. Owners have also reported electrical issues, including problems with the Uconnect infotainment system, sensor malfunctions, and intermittent starting problems.

Recalls for the 2015 Dodge Dart have addressed issues such as potential loss of power steering assist, malfunctioning airbags, and fuel pump failures. Long-term reliability is a concern, particularly as the cars age. The DCT transmission, turbocharger, and electrical systems are potential weak points. Some model years, particularly earlier ones (2013-2014), experienced more issues, but the 2015 model still isn't immune. Thorough inspection and a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic are highly recommended.

How long will the 2015 Dodge Dart last?

With proper maintenance, a 2015 Dodge Dart could potentially reach 150,000-200,000 miles or last 10-12 years. However, this relies heavily on diligent maintenance habits. Neglecting oil changes or transmission service can significantly shorten its lifespan. Long-term durability weaknesses revolve around the potential failures of the 1.4L turbo engine and dual-clutch transmission. Corrosion, especially in regions with harsh winters, can also become an issue over time. Regular inspections are key to identifying and addressing potential problems early.

It's okay but honestly it has a lot of oil issues. The front is long and low to the ground so it's easy to not see things over it and scuff the bottom. Interior is fine. Once that battery runs out have fun w DING DING DIMG DING DING DING for the rest of your life. ALWAYS LEAKING OIL. Not very sporty either even tho it's “GT” it's basically a regular shmegular car.

I bought this car in 2015 with 1500 miles on it, an older couple bought it and decided it was too small for them. I bought it the same day they traded it in they were driving off the lot in their new car as I was signing papers. Since then I have had this car in the shop at least 10 times multiple times for the same issue. About 3-4 months after I bought it I was at Walmart and my car brakes locked up on me and it told me my key fob was not detected, so I waited a little while because I wasn't paying for a tow truck and it finally started, I called the dealership I bought it from the next day and made an apt, I changed the batteries in my key fob thinking this was it. After having them look at it of course there was nothing wrong with it in their eyes. Fine whatever I took the car home drove it and about 1 year later it happened again in my driveway I had to call a tow truck to tow it to the dealership because even after working all day I come home and it still wont start. AGAIN there is nothing wrong with the car. Few months later same thing happened again and had to get it towed this time I took it to a friend of my dads who owns a mechanic shop. He said it was the battery $300 later I have a new battery. But guess what it wasn't the battery because it happened again a month later. This time I took it to a different dealership and guess what again they cannot find anything wrong and pretty much made me feel like I was stupid because what I was telling them didn't make sense. Here we are a year later and the same thing is happening again, I had to leave it at the spot it was at and take some one elses car home which is a big inconvenience. It has broken down on me when I was on my way to work and I took it to the dealership after getting it towed and guess what again there was nothing wrong with the car!! Now tell me how my car breaks down on me and there is nothing wrong with it. I have had this car for 5 years and have had 3 brand new set of tires put on it and that isn't normal. The list goes on and on but I just want people to get the point to NEVER BUY THIS CAR!!!!

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2015 Dodge Dart offered a decent array of tech and safety features for its time. The Uconnect infotainment system, available with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, was a standout, offering intuitive controls and smartphone integration. Base models featured a more basic audio system. Available entertainment features included satellite radio, a premium audio system, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles, but options included blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and a rearview camera. Standard safety features included multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control.

Crash test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) generally show good overall safety, with a 5-star overall rating. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) awarded the Dart a "Good" rating in several crash tests, but ratings varied depending on the specific test. Overall, the Dart provided adequate safety for its class, especially when equipped with optional safety features.

2015 Dodge Dart Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2015 Dodge Dart ranged from approximately $17,000 to $24,000, depending on the trim and options. On the used market in 2024, prices typically range from $5,000 to $12,000, depending on condition, mileage, and trim level. The Dart has depreciated significantly due to factors like reliability concerns, the discontinuation of the model, and the availability of newer, more advanced compact cars. Lower mileage, well-maintained examples, particularly the GT trim, command slightly higher resale values. However, potential buyers should be aware of the potential for costly repairs.

2015 Dodge Dart Cost of Ownership

Insurance costs for the 2015 Dodge Dart are typically average for its class. Fuel costs depend on the engine, with the 1.4L turbo offering the best economy. However, maintenance and repair costs can be higher than average due to potential issues with the engine, transmission, and electrical systems. Long-term ownership can be costly if major repairs are needed. Therefore, while fuel-efficient in some trims, overall it might not be the most economical choice due to potential repair bills.

2015 Dodge Dart Insurance

Insurance for a 2015 Dodge Dart is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2015 Dodge Dart Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2015 Dodge Dart competed against rivals like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, and Ford Focus. In terms of performance, the Dart GT offered decent power but lagged behind the Mazda3 and Ford Focus ST in overall driving dynamics. Feature-wise, it was competitive, especially with the Uconnect system. However, reliability was a significant weakness compared to the Civic and Corolla.

Price-wise, the Dart was often more affordable than its rivals, especially on the used market. However, considering the reliability concerns, alternatives like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Mazda3 are often better choices. These offer superior reliability and resale value. If you prioritize sporty handling and a slightly lower price point, the Ford Focus (excluding the problematic DCT transmission) could be a similar alternative, but still carries some reliability risks. Ultimately, the Dart's attractive pricing might not outweigh its potential maintenance costs.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 Dodge Dart a Good Sedan?

The 2015 Dodge Dart is ideal for budget-conscious buyers who prioritize style and available technology over long-term reliability. It might be worth buying *if* you can find a well-maintained example with a documented service history and a thorough pre-purchase inspection. The 2.4L GT trim is arguably the most desirable due to its improved performance, but also check the transmission. Due to the Dart's discontinuation and potential reliability issues, it's generally not recommended as a primary vehicle, especially if reliability and low running costs are paramount. Proceed with caution and be prepared for potential repairs.

Our Dart has been great.

Our Dart has been great. One thing it will needs a QT of oil every 1000 miles. We had low profile tires. Lots of problems. But I knew that when I bought the car. had to replace rims. Gas Mileage is 24 miles Combined. Spare tire was an option. I check that box. Need spare tire. Only real problem was air condition. Needed a hose it was under warranty.

Its been a great car for me!

I bought a 2015 rallye with around 20k on it in december 2016. I still have it with 160k. So i have had plenty time behind the wheel of my car. I am a pretty tall guy and with the seat all the way back, it is actually a very comfortable ride. I used the car to uber, and ive driven from dc to charlotte multiple times. I have xm radio so I always get nice tunes, the sound system is pretty good but im not beating the ear drums off. I have reached its top speed (limited) and it didnt feel scary. Ive used the manual shift thing, its kinda fun. Ive never had an issue with much of anything on the car. I always love the taillight full bar illuminated, and the fog lights (which actually help in bad rain). Ive driven all four seasons and all conditions (obviously not driving in deep snow). The clearance is low so im extra careful on speed bumps. It does eat oil so i change it every 3k at walmart now for about $60. I used to change it myself as it is very simple, but I dont want to grease xxxxxx these days. Ive changed the battery once. Everything else has been basic maintenance. Thank the lord i havent had to change one single engine component. And the only code Ive rver seen was the parking light being out. The keys suck. They go bad and the trunk will errantly pop open when you leave the car. Keep backup keys programmed. I learned the hard way. The car itself gets compliments, i love the big screen, it is a bit dated by modern standards but i can control my music on the steering wheel. All my buttons work fine. It really has been a great car, and I realize im actually a “dodge” fan. I had a magnum in the late 2000s around the time they first came out. I dont leadfoot, but its got some pull power to shift into faster lanes. I generally dont drive faster than 70mph. I love my black interior. I really have no complaints.

Love my dart

All in all this car has not let me down. A couple of things though; the engine gets pretty hot still and I've done recommended procedures. What I've noticed that helps is using a thicker weight full synthetic oil and routine maintenence kept up with. The ac never has been all that great and is extremely loud. Other than that this vehicle is very dependable and has great gas mileage.

Reliable car.

The car is great, good on gas mileage, handles like a heavier car, and it has easy access to radio and heat and A/C adjustments. The ONLY problem is the cylinder 4 misfire. I have had 3 THREE tuneups in under 100,000 miles.

Problem car, lemon, would not recommend!

Had trouble with getting fob out switch. Would only go to acc. would not go to lock so you could remove fob. Had it to dealer a number of times and they could not figure it out , so I finally traded for a Subaru. Trunk would open any time, would just pop up. Had trouble with transmission. Only good thing, color, great mileage. Got 32 around town. a couple of times would not switch gears when starting out. It was a lemon. When first bought had recall 2 weeks after I purchased it, could not drive on trip because of safety issues.
