What Problems Does the 2014 Dodge Dart Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2014 Dodge Dart include issues with the engine and transmission. The 1.4L MultiAir turbo engine is known for oil leaks and potential turbocharger failures. The dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) available with some engines has been reported to have rough shifting, hesitation, and outright failure. Electrical problems are also common, including issues with the Uconnect system, lighting, and sensors. Some owners have reported problems with the heating and cooling systems. Recalls have been issued for various issues, including problems with the power transfer unit, windshield wipers, and airbags. Long-term reliability is a concern for the Dart, with many owners reporting issues as the vehicle ages, particularly related to the powertrain and electrical systems. Issues tend to be consistent across the model years 2013-2016, as the car remained largely unchanged during its production run. Potential buyers should research specific recalls and technical service bulletins (TSBs) related to the 2014 Dodge Dart before purchase.

How long will the 2014 Dodge Dart last?

Based on owner data, a well-maintained 2014 Dodge Dart could potentially reach 150,000-200,000 miles or 10-12 years of service. However, this is highly dependent on consistent maintenance and addressing known issues proactively. The Dart's long-term durability is questionable due to the aforementioned engine, transmission, and electrical problems. Weaknesses over time often manifest as increased oil consumption, transmission slippage, and electrical component failures. Rust can also become a concern in areas with harsh winter conditions. Regular oil changes, transmission fluid services, and addressing issues promptly are crucial for maximizing the Dart's lifespan.

I bought a 2014 Dart Rallye 2.4 litre with 107k miles and I'm extremely happy with it. Its an automatic transmission and shifts perfect, in manual mode it runs great and the gas mileage is outstanding!!! It handles like its pn rails, and other than my 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse it the sexiest, sleekest, most comfortable car Ive owned and this is the 30th car I've owned, so not bad Dodge. its a notch below my 2015 Chrysler 200C, but just barely, so for the price I recommend this vehicle to all drivers

I purchased a 2014 Dodge Dart GT.Super nice car with a Super great price. No issues what so ever. 100% quality! Top Notch! Very Pleased...
David
I like it. Got the super great Ralley edition. Been good to me for the last 71,000 miles. I'd get another new one, but they don't make them anymore. Shame on Dodge for that. Your SUVs are garbage, at least keep a good economy car on the lot. Biggest gripe with this car, it has this stupid tinted headlight covers that make it hard to see at night.

I had got my Dart march of 2014 very first new car I Have had it towed 2 times it tells me that I have good life in the oil it burns oil and has to be checked often if it is down the car just stops me and my sister were about killed 3 days ago when the car stoped pulling out of my development and a big truck had no ware to go. I understand this is a safety device to protect the car The fist thang I don't think a new car should burn oil like this the second would be haw does Dodge not care about safety for life going to get rid of this car want my family safe

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2014 Dodge Dart came with available tech and entertainment features that were decent for its time. The Uconnect infotainment system, available with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, was a highlight, offering features like navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and SiriusXM radio. Some trims included premium audio systems. Driver-assistance features were limited but could include features like rear parking sensors and a rearview camera on higher trims.
Standard safety features included anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, and multiple airbags. Optional safety features included blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection on higher trims. The 2014 Dodge Dart received generally positive crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The IIHS awarded it a "Top Safety Pick" rating. The NHTSA gave it a 5-star overall safety rating. Not all trims received the exact same ratings from NHTSA. The availability of specific features varied significantly by trim level and optional packages. For example, the base SE trim had minimal features, while the Limited and GT trims offered a more comprehensive suite of technology and safety features.

2014 Dodge Dart Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2014 Dodge Dart ranged from approximately $17,000 for the base SE to around $25,000 for the top-tier Limited trim. Current used market prices typically range from $5,000 to $10,000, depending on condition, mileage, and trim level. The Dart has experienced significant depreciation due to its reliability concerns and discontinuation. Factors affecting resale value include the car's condition, mileage, and whether it has a clean title and service history. Higher trims like the GT and Limited tend to hold their value slightly better due to their added features, but overall, the Dart's resale value is relatively low compared to its competitors.

2014 Dodge Dart Cost of Ownership

Insurance costs for the 2014 Dodge Dart are generally average for its class. Fuel costs depend on the engine choice, with the 1.4L turbo offering the best fuel economy. However, maintenance and repair costs can be higher than average due to potential engine, transmission, and electrical issues. Long-term ownership costs can be substantial if major repairs are needed. Overall, the 2014 Dodge Dart may not be the most economical car to own, especially considering potential repair bills.

2014 Dodge Dart Insurance

Insurance for a 2014 Dodge Dart is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2014 Dodge Dart Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2014 Dodge Dart competed against established rivals like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, and Mazda3. In terms of performance, the Dart's base engines were generally less powerful and engaging than those offered by competitors like the Mazda3 and Ford Focus. While the GT trim offered a sportier experience, its performance didn't quite match the handling prowess of the Mazda3 or the overall refinement of the Civic. The Dart's Uconnect system was a strong point in terms of features, but its overall reliability lagged behind the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. The Ford Focus offered similar technology and styling, but also suffered from some reliability concerns, especially with its automatic transmission. In terms of price, the Dart was often competitively priced, especially on the used market.
Alternatives like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla offer superior reliability and resale value. The Mazda3 provides a more engaging driving experience. The Hyundai Elantra is another good option, offering a strong value proposition and a long warranty. Considering the Dart's reliability issues, opting for a Civic, Corolla, or Mazda3 would likely be a wiser choice for most buyers.

Final Verdict: Is the 2014 Dodge Dart a Good Sedan?

The 2014 Dodge Dart is ideal for buyers seeking a stylish and affordable compact car with a distinctive design, particularly if found at a low price. However, it's crucial to be aware of its reliability concerns. Whether it's worth buying depends heavily on its condition, maintenance history, and price. A well-maintained example with the 2.4L engine and a manual transmission might be a reasonable choice, but a DCT-equipped model should be approached with caution. A thorough pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic is essential. Alternatives like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, or Mazda3 are generally more reliable and offer better long-term value, but may come at a higher price point. If budget is a primary concern and you're willing to accept some risk, the Dart could be considered, but only after careful evaluation.

So I bought this car with no intention of owning it long.

So I bought this car with no intention of owning it long... but now I love it! Have the SE with the 2.0 (which I read with the 6 spd is most reliable). My only complaint is that it could have more power for maneuvering into traffic... that said it's getting me 37+ mpg going 80 and even over mountain passes. It has great weight distribution and corners almost as well as my bmw 3 series did thanks to the Alpha Romeo chassis. The shifts are smooth - even in high traffic freeway driving and over the mountain passes (maintains whatever speed I want over the passes as well). It's comfortable on long drives - have a 5 hour drive 2x per month. I kind of hate that I love it so much - but also a value shopper - so I take that it was so cheap to purchase into consideration. It only has 68k miles, so interested to see how it holds up in the long run... haven't had any issues at all with it over the past 12k miles I've owned it. It was well maintained by the original owners.

Awesome Baby Dodge

When I was a kid my Mom owned a 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger, some of you may remember them two door, vinyl tops, awesome little cars. I Learned to drive in that car. Fast forward to 2014, Fiat owned Dodge and brought back the Dart, unfortunately they discontinued them, until an incident where I became disabled, I loved my Baby Dodge, awesome styling, fun to drive, it was my favorite car

Needed a newer car

This car had what I needed in a car as well as maintaining a "manly" look. As well as style the car is extremely comfortable. I drive over 120 miles for work a day and I definitely needed a car to keep up. I would highly recommend the Dart to anyone thinking about it.
