The Good
The 2022 BMW X2 offers a compelling blend of sportiness and practicality. Its sharp handling and potent engine options appeal to emotional buyers seeking driving enjoyment. Practically, it provides a comfortable interior, decent fuel efficiency for its class, and a premium badge, balancing desire with everyday usability. While not the most spacious, it offers a unique design.
The Bad
The 2022 BMW X2's weaknesses include a relatively small cargo area compared to some rivals. The rear seat space can also feel cramped for taller passengers. Some may find the ride a bit firm, especially with the sport suspension on the M35i. Reliability, while generally good, can be a concern with complex systems, so preventative maintenance is key.

What Problems Does the 2022 BMW X2 Have?
Recalls for the 2022 X2 have been infrequent, but it's crucial to check the NHTSA website for any updates or recalls related to specific VINs. Long-term reliability largely depends on adherence to the recommended maintenance schedule. Addressing minor issues promptly can prevent them from escalating into more significant and costly repairs. Some owners have noted that the run-flat tires can be prone to damage and have a shorter lifespan than traditional tires. Proper tire inflation and avoiding potholes can help mitigate this. Carbon buildup on intake valves can also be a concern with direct-injection engines, so considering an occasional induction service can be beneficial.
Overall, the 2022 X2 is reasonably reliable, but diligent maintenance is essential for long-term ownership.

How Does the 2022 BMW X2 Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Regarding features, the X2 offers a competitive set of standard and optional equipment, but the GLA and Q3 often have more advanced technology available. Reliability-wise, the Lexus UX generally outperforms the BMW X2, while the Audi Q3 can have similar or slightly lower reliability ratings depending on the specific model year. The Mercedes-Benz GLA has comparable reliability to the X2.
In terms of price, the X2 is generally similarly priced to the GLA and Q3, while the Lexus UX is typically more affordable. If prioritizing reliability and fuel economy, the Lexus UX is a strong alternative. If seeking more space and practicality, the Audi Q3 is a better choice. For those who desire a sportier driving experience and distinctive styling, the BMW X2 remains a compelling option. If budget is not a concern, consider the more powerful AMG variants of the GLA. The X2 is a solid choice for someone prioritizing style and sporty handling in the subcompact luxury crossover segment.

Final Verdict: Is the 2022 BMW X2 a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?

Rear brakes went out at 20k miles which is apparentlyRear brakes went out at 20k miles which is apparently common with the X2 (it was JUST $600 for the rear brake job which was awesome). That was with conservative driving too. It also has proprietary windshield wipers which is obnoxious. Only Apple Car Play, no Android Auto because apparently BMW drivers only have Apple products. If you do have an Android, the infotainment will not read text messages which is something that my 2016 Subaru had... Overall the car was fine, it has decent power and a pretty okay interior. Including the wheels, you can show off all 8 BMW badges on the car to really show off your love of the brand.

German Subaru (X2) makes life better! If you want an SUV that is not bulky and still have the feel of driving a sedan, this is the vehicle for you. It is very comfortable on road trips, better than the X1 or X3 when it comes to how comfortable the seat is for the driver. I test drove other X models and the seats were not as comfortable and they felt bulky and more like a truck than a car on the road. This is definitely a crossover with all of the luxuries of a sedan in an suv.

Excellent Experiences At Sandia BMW...Excellent quality of fit and finish everywhere. Excellent handling for a crossover. M seats and adjustments are outstanding. Driving this X2 feels like a much smaller vehicle than it is -- which is a compliment to BMW excellence.
