What Problems Does the 2022 Hyundai Palisade Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2022 Hyundai Palisade, and related model years, include issues with the transmission, such as hesitation or rough shifting. Some owners have reported electrical system glitches, affecting features like the infotainment system or safety sensors. There have been recalls related to the trailer hitch harness potentially causing a fire risk and issues with the windshield wiper motor. Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the durability of the transmission and the potential for oil consumption in the engine, although these are not widespread. It's crucial to check for any outstanding recalls or Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) issued by Hyundai to address potential problems. Early model years (2020 and 2021) experienced similar issues, suggesting these problems might be inherent to the design. Prospective buyers should carefully review the vehicle's history and consider extended warranties to mitigate potential repair costs. Addressing routine maintenance, especially transmission fluid changes, can contribute to longer-term reliability.

How long will the 2022 Hyundai Palisade last?

With proper maintenance, a 2022 Hyundai Palisade can reasonably be expected to provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-12 years of service. Owner data suggests that consistent oil changes, timely transmission fluid replacements, and adherence to the recommended maintenance schedule are crucial. Long-term durability may be affected by the transmission's longevity and the potential for electrical component failures. Keeping the vehicle garaged and avoiding harsh driving conditions can also contribute to its lifespan. While generally reliable, potential weaknesses in the electrical system and transmission should be monitored over time.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade boasts a comprehensive suite of tech, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features. Standard features include an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while higher trims offer a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation. Entertainment options include a Harman Kardon premium audio system. Driver-assistance features include forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and smart cruise control. Optional features include a surround-view monitor, blind-spot view monitor, and a head-up display. Safety features include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and anti-lock brakes. The Palisade has earned excellent crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), receiving a "Top Safety Pick+" award. NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) also awarded it a 5-star overall safety rating. These ratings reflect the vehicle's robust safety structure and advanced safety technologies. The available Highway Driving Assist feature combines adaptive cruise control and lane centering to ease the burden of long drives. Remote Smart Parking Assist is also offered in top trims. Insurance for a 2022 Hyundai Palisade is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2022 Hyundai Palisade Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade competes with the Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Ford Explorer. The Palisade offers a strong value proposition, often undercutting rivals in price while providing a similar level of features. Performance is adequate, but the Ford Explorer offers more powerful engine options. Reliability is generally good, but the Toyota Highlander has a stronger reputation for long-term dependability. In terms of features, the Palisade matches or exceeds most competitors, particularly in higher trims. The Kia Telluride is very similar to the Palisade, sharing many components and features, making it a close alternative. The Honda Pilot offers a more spacious third row but lacks the Palisade's upscale interior. The Ford Explorer has a sportier driving experience but can be more expensive. The Toyota Highlander provides better fuel economy but has a less spacious third row. Overall, the Palisade is a compelling choice for buyers seeking a well-equipped and stylish three-row SUV at a competitive price. If reliability is a top priority, the Toyota Highlander might be a better option, while those seeking a sportier driving experience could consider the Ford Explorer.

Final Verdict: Is the 2022 Hyundai Palisade a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade is ideal for families needing a spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped three-row SUV. It's worth buying, particularly if value and features are high priorities. Buying used can save money, but ensure a thorough inspection and check for any outstanding recalls. The SEL trim offers a good balance of features and price. While not the sportiest or most fuel-efficient choice, its combination of comfort, technology, and competitive pricing makes it a strong contender in its class. Consider an extended warranty for peace of mind, especially with potential transmission or electrical concerns. It is a great vehicle for daily commutes and long road trips.

Hot Take

We have owned our 22' Palisade for 2 years now and have had some issues but nothing to major. The biggest thing was when it was at the dealership for a cracked radiator. After reading online it was more common than I thought and was happening to other Palisade owners. The only other complaint that I really have is an SUV at this price should have power folding mirrors and have less road noise. Would I buy another one? I'm not sure how to answer that I think it would have been a better investment to go with a Toyota 4Runner.

Car constantly sounding shocking alarms

This car has so overdesigned for "safety" that it is dangerous. The automatic parking break causes dangerous situations when trying to pull into traffic when it decides to not disengage. The loud and sudden lane change warnings are shocking and cause driver to pause when that is a greater danger. And many more needless features that are more dangerous and annoying than helpful. I hate this car!

Wonderful comfort and ride!

My wife and I have very much enjoyed the ride and comfort of our new (to us) 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The features are wonderful. I wish I could permanently disable the auto engine shutoff when stopped at a stop light, because I feel it adds more wear and tear on the engine. I do love the V6 engine when on the interstate. I wished it had a little better fuel economy. Overall, it is a wonderful vehicle with a lot of leg room for an adult in any of the 3 rows.

WE LOVE THE 2022 PALISADE!

Love this car!! Couldn't recommend it enough. We were going back between the Palisade & Telluride, test drove both and the Palisade was far superior and drove much smoother. Love the 3rd row automatic seats and that the PRND are buttons, not a switch or knob — gives it a much more elegant feel for the money. Comfortable/spacious enough for 7 (we have the captains chairs). I'd buy this again for sure!!!

A very good 3 row SUV but IIHS side impact poor.

With IIHS side impact rating the structure and safety cage is only Marginal and driver injury of Poor for Pelvis injury the Palisade disappoints. Safety is very important to me, it comes first for my Family. It was good to see other 3 row SUVs did very well.

Best luxury value

The Calligraphy trim is comparable to much more expensive luxury cars at a lower cost, with better warranty and more practical. I'd buy it again any day.
