I bought a 2011 Elantra limited as a certified used vehicle with low miles. All maintenance was done at Hyundai dealership and was up to date. At 107,000 miles the engine seized up due to a defective piston, a problem that plagues 2011-2016 models. Hyundai offered to pay for 60% of the repair leaving me with a $2900 bill. Even though Hyundai is well aware of the defect, no recall was issued. I would advise anyone not to buy this car or any Hyundai for that matter, there are better built more reliable options for the money. Their product is subpar plain and simple. Hyundai has lost a customer for life. Any modern car should last longer than that, that is completely unacceptable.

This engine is known for piston slaps and with people complaining with their engines failing even before hitting 100,000 miles. The Beta 2 engine in the 2011 to 2010 Hyundai Elantras was a more reliable engine. It is sad, since aside from this awful engine, this car is actually pretty good for its time. But for now, it is better you avoid the 2011 to 2016 Elantras and 2014 to 2016 Kia Fortes with the 1.8L Nu engine.

The car looks great & has lots of features for the price, yet the quality is not on par with our past Hondas and our 2009 Acura TL. Like: looks, price, std. equipment. Dislikes: Ride, sloppy handling, lack of rear headroom, rattles at speeds above 25, no power seats even on the Limited, cheap plastics. If not for being in the garage twice, I would have given our new Elantra a C+, but it has earned a D- so far. I am looking forward to test driving the 2012 Honda Civic EX when it is introduced, from the years of trouble free Honda-Acura ownership. I think I will take a look at the Mazda3, too. Proven reliability is key and this I overlooked when buying the Elantra over a Honda, Toyota, Nissan or Mazda.

First car that i BoughtThis vehicle is a good desicion for a single person easy tonhandle and drive, but i hace a family and we dont fit well inside and i feel insecure because the car is too small. But other than that this is a good car.

Very reliablegreat car! Very nice design, comfortable interiors, very reliable even in on the snow, great mpg. I would suggest this car to my friends and family. It keeps a great market value.
