What Problems Does the 2006 Hyundai Elantra Have?
While specific recalls can vary, it's advisable to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any recalls related to safety issues, such as airbag malfunctions or brake system problems, specific to the 2006 Elantra. Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the longevity of the transmission and the potential for rust. Pre-purchase inspections are crucial to assess the condition of these components and identify any existing or potential problems. Regular maintenance, including timely fluid changes, can help mitigate some of these risks and extend the vehicle's lifespan. Some model years within the fourth generation Elantra experienced more reported issues than others, so researching specific year complaints can be beneficial.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) should be consulted for specific scores. Generally, the Elantra performed acceptably in frontal crash tests for its class, but side-impact protection was often rated lower unless equipped with side airbags.
It's important to note that features like Bluetooth connectivity, navigation systems, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like lane departure warning or blind-spot monitoring were not available on the 2006 Elantra. The focus was on providing affordable transportation with basic comfort and safety features. Optional features mainly revolved around comfort and convenience, like leather seats, a sunroof, and upgraded wheels. Reviewing specific crash test data from reputable sources is vital for assessing the vehicle's safety performance.

How Does the 2006 Hyundai Elantra Compare to Other Sedan?
Alternatives to consider include the Toyota Corolla, renowned for its reliability, and the Honda Civic, known for its resale value and driving experience. The Mazda3 offered a sportier driving experience. The Ford Focus could be considered for its contemporary styling, although reliability was a concern for some model years. Whether an alternative is "better" depends on individual priorities; for budget-conscious buyers, the Elantra remains a strong contender, but those prioritizing reliability or performance might lean towards a Corolla, Civic, or Mazda3.

Best car everFinally having to give up this car. 5 spd manual. 430000 kms and 17 years. It has been a tank. Best car I have ever owned. Still has a lot of original equipment on it. All original CV joints and boots, shocks and struts, alternator and starter, air conditioning system, transmission, even exhaust system except for frequent flex pipe changes, etc

Transmission and Electrical issuesThis was my first car and it never really broke down on me yet, but there are some things to consider about it's performance. I often times have to turn off the ac or heater when going up hill and a lot of the times, the automatic transmission will fail to go to a lower gear going up and down hill. My Elantra also started to have electrical problem, with lights on the dashboard not working and the automatic window system not working; this happened around 120k miles. On the positive end, it gets good gas mileage and held up for a long time, besides some of its issues.

There is few things I have a problem with.1 thing when it is rainy outside it feels like the car is free gliding all over. 2nd thing is when the battery dies the car will not go into park. That is terrible. Very scary. Suppose to be a safety plus,. I found where it wasn't for sure.

Sam Lehman was good to help me with any questions. This car is reliable and I am glad to have seen it on line . It is exactly what I needed. The price range was great. I needed cruise control and a car with low mileage for transporting back to work. Thank you very much for this website . It did not take me very long to find car.
