The Good
The 2018 Metris offers a compelling blend of practicality and premium appeal. Its turbocharged engine delivers adequate performance, while its smaller size enhances maneuverability in urban environments. For practical buyers, it provides excellent cargo capacity and utility. Emotionally, it offers the Mercedes-Benz brand prestige and a more refined driving experience than many competitors. Fuel efficiency is also a plus in its class.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2018 Metris include a less refined interior compared to Mercedes-Benz cars and some reports of electrical issues. The ride quality can be firm, especially when unladen. Some find the base engine adequate but not particularly powerful, especially when fully loaded. Check for proper maintenance records, especially regarding transmission servicing, to mitigate potential problems.

What Problems Does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Metris Have?
Recalls for the 2018 model year have addressed issues such as potential fuel leaks and problems with the stability control system. It's important to check the VIN with the NHTSA to verify if any recalls apply and have been addressed.
Long-term reliability can be a concern, as the Metris is a relatively complex vehicle. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes and inspections, is crucial to mitigate potential problems. Some owners suggest that pre-2018 models had more frequent issues, with later model years showing some improvement. However, thorough inspection and a detailed vehicle history report are always recommended before purchasing a used Metris.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Standard driver-assistance features include crosswind assist and hill-start assist. Optional driver-assistance features include parking sensors, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, collision prevention assist, and lane-keeping assist.
Standard safety features include multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, and stability control. The 2018 Metris received mixed crash-test ratings. The NHTSA gave it four out of five stars for overall safety. IIHS ratings may vary and should be checked for specific configurations. It's crucial to remember that driver-assistance features are not a substitute for safe driving practices and attentive driving habits. Regularly maintaining and updating the software for these features is also essential for optimal performance.

How Does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Metris Compare to Other Van?
Reliability is a key consideration. The Transit Connect and ProMaster City have generally comparable or slightly better reliability records than the Metris. The Nissan NV200, while less refined, often proves to be a more reliable and affordable option.
If reliability is a top priority and budget is a concern, the Ford Transit Connect or Nissan NV200 are viable alternatives. If you prioritize a more premium driving experience and higher towing capacity, and are prepared for potentially higher maintenance costs, the Metris remains a compelling option. For price-conscious buyers needing space, the Ram ProMaster City warrants consideration.

Beware of Finance Department!Let me first start by first saying German, the sales manager at Tom Masano has been a great asset from the time I purchased a Metris Van back in March 2019 to now. However, the financial department is horrible! I got rid of the Metris van in July 2019 and requested that the finance department cancel my extended warranty on July 5, 2019. I was informed in order for them to cancel the warranty I needed to email Mary-Jo Shaw in the finance department a letter which I did on July 5, 2019. Maybe she didn't get the email, I don't know. It is now October 2019 and the finance department is giving me the run around with cancelling my warranty and submitting my refund to MBFS to disburse. I requested that the extended warranty is cancelled a second time since I paid the balance with MBFS in September 2019. When I inquired with the finance department last week, specifically the business manager Brian Ingham he stated he spoke with someone at MBFS who said the lien has not been settled and that there were some litigation with my account, which was not true! I immediately called MBFS, spoke with a representative named Angela and she said I had a $17.15 balance and that my account would NOT be in litigation for $17.15. I am very offended and would like to know where Brian got this erroneous information from? Even IF I had a balance with MBFS, why wasn't the refund from my extended warranty sent to MBFS back in July 2019 upon my original request to cancel the warranty? If a customer asks to cancel the warranty then the dealership should process the request upon their request. The financial department is acting very fraudulent and I'm not sure what is going on and why it is taking so long to process the cancellation of the extended warranty. I will follow up with MBFS in two weeks to see if Brian and his financial department forwarded the extended warranty refund. Beware of this dealership if you are not paying cash for your vehicle or if you want to add anything extra to your purchase (i.e. extended warranties). Again, the sales department is awesome but the financial department has been very difficult to deal with.

Love it so farI've had the van for two months now and am quite satisfied. Decent handling,Comfortable , quiet ( in passenger model) and over 28 mpg on country highways. Only complaint is the self parking option( Parktronic) is flaky. Only woks about half the time-really not worth the big bucks for that option.

Love this van!My husband and I were van shopping when we came across the Mercedes-Benz Metris. We wanted something that would be comfortable and reliable for traveling around the US, sometimes with our dogs. This van really fits our needs. It is spacious and has the ability to easily remove the seats for moving large cargo. We didn?t want a lot of automatic or motorized options that would work just as well manually, having had a previous vehicle that was outrageously expensive to repair. There is only one thing that I would change and that is that the van does not have cruise control. The Metris is engineered beautifully and I am sure we will have many years of happy traveling In our beautiful Mercedes-Benz!

Van That Handles Like A CarI love it. We needed a second vehicle that would accommodate us and our pets in case of an emergency evacuation and the Metris with room for 5 passengers (can come with an extra row of seats to accommodate 7) and space for four dog crates in the back is a perfect match for our needs. Handles like a well designed car rather than a van. It's quiet and has separate rear air conditioning, which is great for the dogs.
