The Good
The 2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid offers a powerful V8 engine combined with electric assist, providing decent performance and improved fuel efficiency compared to its non-hybrid counterpart. It delivers a comfortable ride and spacious interior appealing to families. For practical buyers, it provides towing capacity and cargo space while potentially saving on fuel costs. Emotionally, owners felt they were making a "greener" choice without compromising on the SUV experience.
The Bad
The 2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid's main weaknesses lie in its complex hybrid system, which can be prone to expensive repairs. Fuel economy, while better than the standard Yukon, may not meet expectations in real-world driving. The regenerative braking system can feel unusual. Also, battery life and replacement cost is a concern for used models.

What Problems Does the 2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid Have?
Recalls have been issued for various Yukon models over the years, but not necessarily specific to the hybrid version. Check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any recalls related to the 2012 Yukon Hybrid. Long-term reliability concerns center on the longevity of the hybrid components. Regular maintenance, especially related to the cooling system and battery management, is crucial to maximizing the lifespan of these components. Rust can also be a problem in regions with harsh winters.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a full complement of airbags (front, side, and side curtain). Optional features included a sunroof, power-adjustable pedals, and remote start.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) should be consulted for specific scores. How Does the 2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
In terms of reliability, the Toyota Sequoia is often considered more reliable in the long run, particularly avoiding the hybrid system issues. If fuel economy is the primary concern, a newer, smaller SUV or crossover might be a better alternative. If the need is for a large SUV, consider a standard Yukon or Tahoe and accept the lower MPG, or explore alternatives like a used Acura MDX or Lexus RX for a balance of luxury and reliability. A non-hybrid Sequoia is also a strong alternative.

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!The Yukon Hybrid meets every possible expectation for comfort, luxury, safety, drivability and to top it all off, this vehicle gets great gas mileage for its enormous size. I have owned my Yukon Hybrid since March 2009 and I have only great things to say about this car. I was recently in a bad accident in this vehicle and our family was fully protected from the impact, remarkably, we were all able to walk away. My next vehicle purchase will definitely be another Yukon Hybrid.

FAVORITE VEHICLEGot a new Denali Hybrid last March. My third New Yukon Denali. This is the best on yet. The others had regular gas engines. I use it around town and to tow my boat. It gets fantastic mpg in the city - I can usually get 21 and sometimes 22 mpg with this one compared to 11-13 in town with the old ones. This one is just about a year old and has never needed to see the inside of a service department for anything but oil changes. My last Denalis were great too - only one ever needed a warranty repair for a minor water leak on the 2007. GM was good enough to get me new set of chrome 20's for the '07 at no charger even though it was a year out of warranty due to some minor pitting. GM rules!!
