The Good
The 2019 BMW X4 excels in performance, especially the M40i, offering thrilling acceleration and sporty handling. Its comfortable interior and upscale design appeal to emotional buyers. Practically, it provides decent cargo space and available all-wheel drive. Reliability is generally good, while fuel efficiency is respectable for its class. It offers a compelling blend of style and utility.
The Bad
The 2019 BMW X4's sloping roofline compromises rear headroom and cargo space compared to more traditional SUVs. Visibility can also be limited due to the design. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system. The ride can be firm, especially with larger wheels. Maintenance costs associated with BMWs can be higher than average.

What Problems Does the 2019 BMW X4 Have?
There have been some recalls affecting the 2019 X4, mainly related to safety concerns. Check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the latest recall information specific to your vehicle's VIN. These recalls often involve potential issues with airbag deployment or other safety-related components.
Long-term reliability concerns often mirror those of other modern BMWs. Oil leaks, particularly as the vehicle ages, can be a potential issue. The complex electronics can also be a source of problems over time. The turbocharged engines require diligent maintenance, including regular oil changes with the correct synthetic oil. Suspension components, especially in areas with poor road conditions, may require attention sooner than expected. Pre-purchase inspections are crucial, paying close attention to maintenance records and any signs of prior repairs.
How long will the 2019 BMW X4 last?
Long-term durability can be affected by factors like driving habits and climate. Weaknesses over time might include wear and tear on suspension components, potential for oil leaks (common in BMWs), and the eventual need for replacement of major components like the turbocharger. Electronic components can also become more prone to failure with age. Proper care can extend the vehicle's lifespan and minimize issues.
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning as standard. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, parking assistant, and a head-up display. These features enhance safety and convenience.
Safety features also encompass multiple airbags, stability control, and anti-lock brakes.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA should be consulted for the most accurate and up-to-date safety assessments. The 2019 X4 generally performed well in crash tests, but it's important to verify the specific ratings for this model year from these organizations.

2019 BMW X4 Prices and Market Value
Depreciation is moderate for the X4, as with most luxury vehicles. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, maintenance history, and options. Well-maintained models with desirable options tend to hold their value better. The M40i trim typically retains a higher resale value compared to the xDrive30i due to its performance and features. Color also plays a factor with more popular colors holding value better than less common ones.

How Does the 2019 BMW X4 Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Features are generally similar across these vehicles, with comparable infotainment systems, driver-assistance technologies, and luxury amenities. However, BMW's iDrive system is often praised for its user-friendliness. Reliability can be a mixed bag; the Macan often scores higher in reliability ratings, while the X4 and GLC Coupe are generally considered average. The Q5 Sportback shares many components with the reliable Q5 SUV.
Price-wise, the X4 is typically in line with its German rivals.
Alternatives to consider include the Porsche Macan for a sportier driving experience and higher reliability, or the Audi Q5 Sportback for a more practical and slightly less expensive option. The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe offers similar styling and features but with a different driving experience. If rear passenger space is a priority, a traditional SUV might be a better choice.

Final Verdict: Is the 2019 BMW X4 a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?
Whether it's worth buying depends on individual needs and budget. A used 2019 X4 can offer good value if purchased at a reasonable price and with a thorough inspection. The M40i trim is worth considering for enthusiasts who want a more engaging driving experience. However, be prepared for potentially higher maintenance costs compared to other SUVs. If rear passenger space is important, consider alternatives. Ensure a pre-purchase inspection is performed by a qualified mechanic to identify any potential issues.

They say the X4 is ugly. Shame on themA new owner of a 2019 BMW X4 M40i and loving it so far. Very sharp inside and out with a lot of punch. The vehicle handles great and has a lot of space inside. It sounds imposing. I’d say the downside is the rear blind spots and missing space over an X3 (mine has non run flats and the storage space under the rear storage is taken by a donut tire). But once you lower the rear seat headrests and get used to it, the blind spot isn’t troublesome. At the end of the day the X3 is a great SUV (I had one) but the X4 is much sportier, if that’s your thing. I just wish the M40i had more M trademarks, such as M sports steering wheel and M branding on the front seats as my recent 440i M sport edition did. But for sports + some utility, I recommend the X4.

An SUV is not supposed to be this awesome to own!As a long time BMW “M†owner, I needed a “family†car, and came upon my 2019 X4Msport40i totally by accident, but what a find it has been. 100% reliable for 30,000 miles so far, terrific seats, and, um... FAST. Complaints? I wish the stereo was a bit better.

Absolutely the best car I have owned.I had read many reports before purchasing and most were very good but now after only 1 month of driving it , it far and away exceeds all I heard and read about them. Performance is out of this world , just superb. I've had an X5 4.4 V8 and a X3 3.5i previously and loved them both, but this car is far and away much better in every way. A bit hard for me at (74) to get to grips with all the modern eqt it has but I will learn slowly all I need to know .
