The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor is a mid-size crossover SUV that was introduced in 2003. It features a unibody construction and a comfortable ride. Key trims included the LS, SE, and Limited. Known for its sporty styling and relatively affordable price, the Endeavor offered a practical alternative in a crowded SUV market. New, it ranged roughly from $25,000 to $32,000.
The Good

The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor offers a blend of comfort and style. Its responsive V6 engine provides adequate performance, while the comfortable ride and spacious interior appeal to practical buyers. Emotionally, its sporty design and available features offered a sense of individuality and value for the money.

The Bad

The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor has some known weaknesses. Potential buyers should watch out for transmission issues, especially slipping or rough shifting. Also, check for rust, particularly in areas prone to salt exposure. Fuel economy is not a strong point, and some interior materials can feel cheap.

What Problems Does the 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor often revolve around the automatic transmission. Owners have reported slipping, hard shifting, and outright failure, especially at higher mileages. This is a major long-term reliability concern. Rust can also be a significant issue, particularly in regions that use road salt. Check the undercarriage, wheel wells, and lower body panels carefully.
Engine issues, while less common than transmission problems, can occur. Potential issues include oil leaks and timing belt maintenance (though generally durable, it needs replacement at specified intervals). Interior components, such as the power windows and door locks, are sometimes reported to fail. Check all electrical components for proper operation before purchasing.
Recall information should be verified with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to ensure any safety-related recalls have been addressed. It's advisable to run the VIN to check for outstanding recalls. While specific model year variances in problems aren't drastic, earlier model years (2004-2005) might show higher incidence rates of certain issues due to age and mileage.

How long will the 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor last?

A well-maintained 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor can potentially reach 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report that consistent oil changes, transmission servicing, and timely replacement of wear items (brakes, tires, etc.) are crucial for longevity. However, the transmission remains a weak point, and its lifespan can be shortened by infrequent maintenance or harsh driving habits. Rust is another significant factor affecting long-term durability, especially in colder climates. Vehicles regularly exposed to road salt will likely show more corrosion, impacting structural integrity and resale value. Proper rustproofing and regular washing can help mitigate this issue. Overall, long-term reliability hinges heavily on preventive maintenance and addressing potential issues promptly.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor came with a decent level of technology for its time. Standard entertainment features included a CD player and AM/FM radio. Higher trims offered an upgraded audio system with more speakers and potentially a subwoofer. Some models included a sunroof as an optional feature for enhanced comfort and open-air driving.
Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles. It typically included cruise control. There were no advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like lane departure warning or automatic emergency braking available.
Safety features were adequate for the era. All models had anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control, and front and side airbags. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) was also a standard feature, enhancing stability and control during challenging driving conditions. Some models also included a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Crash-test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) should be checked for specific performance. Information may be found on the NHTSA website using the vehicle's year, make, and model. Generally, the Endeavor performed adequately in crash tests for its class, but specific ratings can vary.

2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor ranged from around $25,000 to $32,000 depending on the trim level and options. Today, used market prices typically range from $3,000 to $8,000, depending on condition, mileage, and location. The Endeavor has experienced significant depreciation due to its age, reliability concerns, and the Mitsubishi brand's overall depreciation curve. Factors affecting resale value include the vehicle's condition, maintenance history (especially transmission servicing), lack of rust, and overall demand for SUVs in the used market. Low mileage examples in excellent condition command a higher price, but even then, prices remain relatively low compared to competitors.

2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor Cost of Ownership

The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor is generally not considered economical to own in the long term. Insurance costs are typically average for its class. However, fuel economy is below average, contributing to higher running costs. Maintenance can be moderate if routine services are followed, but repairs, particularly transmission-related, can be expensive. The potential for rust repair also adds to long-term costs. Overall, while initial purchase prices are low, the higher potential for repairs and lower fuel economy make it a potentially costly vehicle to own.

2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor Insurance

Insurance for a 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Wagon with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor Compare to Other Wagon?

The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor competed with vehicles like the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Nissan Murano, and Chevrolet Equinox. Compared to the Highlander and Pilot, the Endeavor falls short in terms of reliability and overall refinement. The Murano offered a more stylish and upscale experience, while the Equinox provided a more budget-friendly option.
In terms of performance, the Endeavor's V6 engine was adequate but not class-leading. Features were comparable on lower trims but lagged behind on higher trims compared to rivals. The key advantage of the Endeavor was its lower price point, both when new and on the used market.
If reliability is a major concern, the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot are better alternatives, although they will command a higher price. The Nissan Murano offers a similar level of style and features, but reliability should be researched. The Chevrolet Equinox, depending on the year, may provide a more affordable and efficient option, but with some trade-offs in space and performance. Ultimately, the best alternative depends on individual priorities and budget.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor a Good Wagon?

The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor is best suited for budget-conscious buyers who prioritize affordability over long-term reliability and aren't planning on extensive long-distance driving. It could be a decent choice as a temporary or short-term vehicle. It's generally not recommended as a long-term investment due to potential maintenance costs. If considering a purchase, have a pre-purchase inspection performed by a qualified mechanic, paying close attention to the transmission. Look for examples with comprehensive maintenance records and minimal rust. Lower trims might offer better value, as the higher trims don't significantly improve the overall ownership experience given the potential reliability risks. Buying new is obviously not possible, so only used models are relevant.

All season SUV!

This car has never disappointed me. I used this for moving with full size beds and all the rest of my things and travel 24 hrs from NM to LA to Sacramento. I’ve been relocating maybe 10x already and have used this car and it’s only last week (first time) that I had issue of the coils. This is a high performing SUV. To mention, I only service my car in Universal Mitsubishi and they took care of it. Paul is the best service staff who knows his job and understand the customers’ financial situation and offered options for priority services needed for repair and to get the repair done. Arman is a very accomodating and service oriented staff who was willing to extend his time accompanying me when I was stuckedon the road while the Mktsubishi team service were arranging personnel/towing necessary for the safety.

Great Truck for the $$$$!!!

I wanted to get a decent used full-sized SUV with not too many miles. After much research, I decided to look for a '06-'09 Mitsubishi Endeavor with less than 50K miles. Found an '07 ES model with 44K miles. It's a beautiful vehicle in near-new condition. it drives great, with It handles just like a larger SUV should, a little soft on corners with very little interior engine noise at speed. Has decent visibility throughout. Factory Stereo is by Rockford Fosgate, with an 8" sub in the right rear cargo panel. Sounds OK, but onboard amplifier could be a little louder. My one complaint is the gas mileage (17-21mph), but I really can't complain; it's cavernous. All in all, I like it and would recommend for anyone carrying lots of cargo and doesn't mind the fuel economy (or lack thereof).

2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor

Bought new. Noticed immediate knocking/pinging in engine. Dealer said premium gas is required & should eliminate pinging in time. Intermittent pinging continues 4 years later. Already replaced battery twice, both headlights & tail lights as well. Already had 2 issues with A/C (thankfully under warranty). First was bad hose, 2nd issue was bad condenser. Very comfortable car & rides well, but overall I would not purchase again or recommend the Endeavor. Sorry, Mitsubishi.

Good ride, poor quality trims

I had owned my endeavor less than 2 months when the first piece of exterior molding simply fell off while I was driving along. I have had several pieces of interior and exterior moldings/covers just fall off without any external pressure. The fan motor for a/c died while driving back from vacation in Hilton Head in the heat of the summer. Apparently per maintenance at dealership it is a well know fact that the drain pan for the a/c has a significantly small drain hole which doesn't empty properly, flooding the fan motor. The dashboard squeaks while the vehicle is in motion making for a noisy ride. It does ride well and handle better than the last midsize car I owned but all in all, mitsubishi needs to work on craftsmanship. By the way, all this has happened and the vehicle has less than 26,000 miles.

Beatiful ride, nice car and very reliable

I owned several Mitsubishis including a montero that I sold with over 220k miles and an eclipse. This one is the best so far, very reliable, very confortable. I already have over 100k miles and I have no complaints. Except, the paint job was not very good and Mitsubishi refuse to take care due to the high miles. I have to admit, it was not their fault.

Awsome in winter snow driving

Mine is going on 4 years old no major problems and only the most basic of maintence needed. AWD gets a little less gas mileage but size confort and reliablitly more then make up for it. Back seat space is well HUGE. Seats folded down allow for full 4' x 8' interior storage.

Endeaver SE w/ Navigation

Ride is excellent, Fit and finish is a bit below Honda and Toyota. I also own a 2006 Honda Pilot to compare. Navigation System is good but not as good as a $700 Garmin portable GPS unit. The Garmin calls out the "Street Names" but this $1800 Mitsubishi Navigation/GPS does not although it has other great features such as a trip computer, vehicle maintenance schedule, miles to empty, average mpg. Mitsubishi's center console needs work
