The Good
The 2005 SLK-Class offers a blend of sporty performance and Mercedes-Benz comfort. Its retractable hardtop provides both open-air fun and coupe practicality, appealing to emotional buyers. Relatively reliable for a luxury car, it also provides a comfortable ride and respectable fuel efficiency, attracting more practical considerations. The car's sleek design also continues to draw appeal.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses in the 2005 SLK-Class include issues with the retractable hardtop mechanism, which can be prone to failure. Electrical problems, particularly with sensors and control modules, are also something to watch out for. Oil leaks, especially in higher-mileage examples, can be a concern. Suspension components might also need attention over time. Corrosion and rust, especially on older models, is a factor to consider.

SLK 350 - Do not hesitate to buy oneMy 2005 SLK 350 has 250,000 km and it runs very well and the body is clean (no rust). There is a small oil leak but that is to be expected for a car with this milage. Overall, I love this car.

Just great all roundThe car itself is minimalistic except where it counts. Fast stylish and so much fun it aught to be illegal. It has everything a sports car needs without the fluffy extras. It doesnt need an ugly spoiler or GT stripes. When you floor the gas you will understand that this baby Mercedes isnt a baby at all. Its not for the fainthearted. Its a sports roadster with a pedigree miles long and lives up to its heritage. Yes there are faster cars. Then again beauty is in the eye of the person owning the keys to its 3 pointed star F1 style nose

Second one owned!I sold my 2002 SLK320 to a girlfriend AND she's still my friend! The 2005 replacement is as trustworthy and reliable as the first. The convertible Hardtop Power Retractable feature provides safety and security. Has run AAAAA+ since purchased.

Best carI had my 05, SLK 350 for 3 years and loved it. Drove and handle wonderfully. It would stop on a dime and turn on a dime. Fast with get up and go. Very comfortable and when the top was down I was in heaven! Sound system was a Bose system. Nothing bad to say about this car what so ever, but maybe the cost to maintain it, was a little pricey.
5th and best Mercedes so far! on November 20, 2018
112K miles with no major problemsGreat car! Super gas mileage with the 6 speed manual transmission. Still a very tight feeling and driving car. I have always had my maintenance done with certified mechanics. Other than having typical oil and filter changes, brake pad changes, the car has not needed anything major nor has anything broke or needed replacement. What I did have to replace was the trim on the left and right side of the rear window due to the paint fading. Also, the right rear tire takes the torque and it needs replacing faster than the other tires. Typical Driver's seat wear on the edge near the door. The Navigation system is not very good and the factory stereo could be better. Overall, the car has not been costly to have and maintain.

A Rare Gem#1 value retractable hardtop. Original MSRP with all features/options was $50k! You can't beat it for the price. It is a secret gem. I've had several people think it's brand new and are stunned when I tell them it's a 2005. The vehicle has not lost value, in fact, it seems to have gone up since I bought it. You must get the all of the options and features including Harmon K surround sound system, Airscarf neck warmer, custom leather Designo trim, premium wheels. It is comfortable to drive too with the electronic seats with memory. I forecast this car will increase in value over time as a collector item.

This little sports car was a gift to myself.Hard to find a better sports car for the price of a used Miata. Hardtop convertible a much better choice for me than a ragtop. Top up..sport coupe, top down terrific.
