The Good
The 2012 Dodge Caliber offered value with its affordable price and practical hatchback design, appealing to budget-conscious buyers. Its bold styling gave it a unique look. While not a performance leader, its fuel efficiency was decent, and it provided adequate comfort for daily commutes. The available Uconnect system was a plus.
The Bad
The 2012 Dodge Caliber had notable weaknesses. Its continuously variable transmission (CVT) was prone to issues and complaints. Engine performance could feel sluggish, and the interior materials were often criticized for their low quality. Reliability was generally below average compared to its competitors. Rust can also be a concern in certain climates.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2012 Dodge Caliber Have?
Electrical issues were not uncommon, ranging from problems with the power windows and locks to malfunctions in the car's computer systems. Suspension components, particularly the struts and shocks, were known to wear out relatively quickly, leading to a rough ride and compromised handling. Premature brake wear was also a concern for some owners.
While specific recalls for the 2012 model year might exist, it's essential to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the latest recall information. Across the Caliber's production run (2007-2012), potential long-term reliability concerns included rust, especially in areas with harsh winter weather, and the continued viability of the CVT as the vehicle ages.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included front and side airbags, as well as side-curtain airbags for head protection. Optional features included fog lamps and remote start.
Crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) should be checked for the specific 2012 model year. Generally, the Caliber performed adequately in frontal crash tests but received lower ratings in side-impact tests. It's important to consult these official sources for the most accurate and up-to-date safety information. Keep in mind that safety standards have evolved significantly since 2012, so compared to newer vehicles, the Caliber's safety technology is relatively outdated.

How Does the 2012 Dodge Caliber Compare to Other Vehicle?
While the Caliber might have been slightly more affordable initially, its long-term ownership costs, due to potential repairs, could offset any initial savings. The Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla offered superior reliability and resale value. The Mazda3 provided a more engaging driving experience. The Hyundai Elantra offered a compelling combination of features and value with a longer warranty.

not sure why this has good reviewswish i could give it 0 stars. steering wheel locks up, sometimes brakes/gas don't work. many times i would step on the gas pedal expecting to go and it staggers, almost causing accidents multiple times. not only that but then it jerks and goes flying, which also almost caused accidents. clock in car doesnt work no matter what, car shut down one time as i was driving (no warning), a few times already cant go past 30 mph. many times the car wont go past 50mph, car constantly jerks, overheated and shut down after 2 hours of driving. the only reason why i'm still putting up with this car is because im not the person paying for it.... cant imagine spending my hard earned money on something as terrible as this.

Better than expected in almost every way. This was my son's car he drove commuting to work about an hour each way. He got a little bigger car to have more room for child seats. I decided to use the Caliber to commute to work while it is for sale. I have been very surprised at the leg room and comfort of the vehicle. It drives well, is very easy to see out of, and runs great. It performs reasonably well for a 4 cylinder engine. I wouldn't mind owning this car myself if I needed another car.

Good for me.I like the car... it is comfortable and cute. But doe have a really small trunk space and not a whole lot of power. Great sound system and really comfortable seats!

Most awful vehicle I?ve ever ownedI am a single mom of 4 children and I bought this car for our family transportation. It?s been a nightmare from the day I got it. Major mechanical issues, hydroplanes no matter the amount of water on the road (yes even with new tires, balanced and rotated and alignment done) and absolutely horrible on gas milage.
