The Good
The 2001 Dodge Ram Van offers robust performance with its V6 and V8 engine options, appealing to those needing reliable power. It provides ample space and cargo capacity, a practical advantage for businesses and families. While not luxurious, it delivers dependable transportation, resonating with buyers seeking functional value and a no-frills driving experience.
The Bad
The 2001 Dodge Ram Van is known for potential issues with rust, particularly in areas prone to road salt. Transmission problems are also commonly reported. Fuel economy is not its strong suit. What Problems Does the 2001 Dodge Ram Van Have?
While specific recall information for the 2001 model year needs to be verified through official sources like the NHTSA website, common recalls for this generation of Ram Vans often involve issues with the fuel system, airbags, and electrical components. Long-term reliability is a concern due to the vehicle's age, with wear and tear on components leading to increased maintenance costs. Owners frequently report needing to replace parts like ball joints, tie rod ends, and other suspension components. Regular maintenance and careful inspection are essential to mitigate these issues and prolong the vehicle's lifespan.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Optional features could include anti-lock brakes (ABS) and traction control, but these were not standard. Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA or IIHS may be available, but results are generally not as comprehensive or reassuring as those for newer vehicles. The focus was on functionality and utility rather than advanced technology or safety. The lack of modern tech reflects the era in which it was produced, prioritizing simple operation and durability over sophisticated features. Buyers seeking advanced technology or comprehensive safety should consider newer vehicles.

How Does the 2001 Dodge Ram Van Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle Van Cargo?
Alternatives to the 2001 Dodge Ram Van, depending on your needs, might include later model versions of the Ford E-Series or Chevrolet Express if seeking slightly improved reliability. Modern minivans offer better fuel economy, safety features, and comfort, but lack the Ram Van's cargo capacity. If cargo space isn't the primary concern, a newer, more efficient minivan could be a better alternative. Consider your priorities carefully when choosing between these options.

Used conversion van for tripsI bought my (2002) Ram 1500 conversion van for trips to FL and SC from PA. Thankfully gas prices are way low so far it's been a pleasant surprise. Rides nice on the highway. I installed an in dash Android head Unit with bluetooth, GPS and backup camera. It was needed lots of blind spots with all of the headrests.

Best conversion van i ever had. This van is so cool, it drives like a car so comfortable on trips, not tired at all. Pulls a cargo trailer like nothing, sleep well in the back bed.

2001 dodge ram vanBest van ever! I have had this van for 13.5 years now with 180,000 miles and it still looks great. Wish I could make it last forever. The 5.9 360 has plenty of pwer for such a big vehicle. No major problems at all, just regular maintenance work. The body is starting to rust though. It's a shame Dodge quit making such a reliable work van like this. They are really missing out on the cargo van market. I would be the first in line to buy one if they brought it back.

Very VersatileMy 5.2L Dodge is a great ride with a lot of character. It is SOOO much fun to drive around town and on long trips. I have the conversion van with everything. It is so roomy, and if I need additional room, I can take out the middle seats. Gas mileage is not so wonderful, but I didn't buy it for its fuel economy. Very cheap to fix and maintain as well. A lot of the maintenance can be done your self if you are mechanically inclined.

This is the 5th Dodge Van that I've owned.Very reliable. Too bad they discontinued making this Van. Their loss. Will buy another, if they bring this model back.

Worst car I've ever drivenThis van is horrible to the driver. No leg room, uncomfortable driver's seat. My '75 Grand marquis got better gas mileage. Can't park it anywhere, because it doesn't fit. Ugly as spit. 15 passengers cramped to close together. All rear seats are uncomfortable. I would never recommend this van to someone I didn't like.

very reliabe vanI have the 5.2 engine and 4 speed transmission I use this van to travel and around town. This van has been to Colorado mountains and Washington D.C. The engine and trans have plenty of power to offer.I haul a 26 travel trailer and it handles great. The only things I would say is there is low headroom in the back for an adult and the van is narrow compared to my old chevy conversion van.
