The Good
The 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon offers robust performance suitable for hauling and passenger transport. Its spaciousness provides significant comfort, appealing to families. While not the most fuel-efficient, its strong reliability and relatively affordable price make it a practical value choice. The Ram Wagon evokes a sense of dependability, satisfying emotional needs for a reliable and capable vehicle.
The Bad
Known weaknesses of the 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon include its fuel economy, which is subpar compared to modern vehicles. Rust can be a significant concern, particularly in areas with harsh winters. Transmission issues and general wear and tear due to age are also factors to watch out for. Regular maintenance is crucial to mitigate these potential problems.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon Have?
Recalls may have addressed certain issues, so it's essential to check the vehicle's VIN with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) database to determine if all applicable recalls were performed.
Long-term reliability concerns include the durability of the suspension components, which can wear out over time, leading to a rough ride. The air conditioning system is also known to be prone to failures. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes and inspections, can help mitigate some of these issues. Owners should be prepared for potential repairs given the vehicle's age.
How long will the 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features were minimal, primarily consisting of power steering and power brakes.
Safety features included standard front airbags and anti-lock brakes (ABS) in some models.
Optional features varied by trim level and could include cruise control and upgraded audio systems. More luxurious models sometimes featured captain's chairs and enhanced interior trim.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA for this specific model year can be found online. However, given its age, these ratings should be considered in the context of the safety standards of that era. Modern vehicles generally offer significantly improved safety features and crash protection. The Ram Wagon lacks advanced safety technologies like electronic stability control or side airbags, which are standard on newer vehicles. Therefore, prioritizing safety upgrades in other areas might be advisable.

How Does the 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon Compare to Other Vehicle?
Better alternatives, if a newer vehicle is desired, include the Ford Transit, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, or Ram ProMaster, which offer improved fuel economy, modern features, and enhanced safety. However, these newer vans come at a significantly higher price point.
Similar alternatives from the same era include the Ford Econoline/Club Wagon and Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana. If budget is a primary concern and basic transportation is all that's needed, the Ram Wagon can be a viable option, but potential buyers should be prepared for age-related maintenance and repairs.
