Analysis
What Problems Does the 2006 Hyundai Tiburon Have?
Electrical issues, such as malfunctioning sensors or problems with the power windows and locks, are also sometimes reported. Some owners have noted issues with the air conditioning system, particularly compressor failure.
While not a widespread issue, some Tiburons have experienced problems with the timing belt, especially if not replaced according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule. Regularly scheduled maintenance, including oil changes and fluid checks, is crucial for long-term reliability. Check for any outstanding recalls related to safety or emissions, as these could impact the vehicle's performance and safety. Specifically for the 2006 model, inspect the suspension components for wear and tear, as these can contribute to a less comfortable ride.
How long will the 2006 Hyundai Tiburon last?
Long-term weaknesses often involve rust, particularly in colder climates, and potential transmission problems, especially with the automatic. Suspension components may also require replacement over time. Neglecting these issues can significantly shorten the vehicle's lifespan.
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features include standard front airbags and anti-lock brakes (ABS) on some trims. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) was not typically offered on all trims for this model year. Optional features could include a sunroof, leather upholstery, and alloy wheels.
Crash test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) vary. Generally, the Tiburon performed reasonably well in frontal crash tests, but side-impact protection was sometimes rated lower. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ratings should also be consulted for a comprehensive assessment of safety performance. Considering the age of the vehicle, its safety features are limited compared to newer models. It's important to remember that safety technology has significantly advanced since 2006.

2006 Hyundai Tiburon Prices and Market Value
The Tiburon has depreciated significantly due to its age and the availability of newer, more advanced vehicles. Factors affecting resale value include the car's overall condition, mileage, service history, and whether it has any aftermarket modifications. A well-maintained, low-mileage example in excellent condition will command a higher price.

How Does the 2006 Hyundai Tiburon Compare to Other Coupe?
In terms of features, the Tiburon offered a decent array for its price point, but rivals sometimes provided more advanced options. Reliability-wise, the Toyota Celica and Acura RSX generally had better reputations. The Tiburon stood out for its aggressive styling and lower price point.
Alternatives to the Tiburon depend on the buyer's priorities. If performance is key, the Acura RSX Type-S is a better choice. If reliability is paramount, a well-maintained Toyota Celica (if available) could be preferable. For a similar combination of style and affordability, a newer, well-maintained Scion tC could be a good alternative. The Honda Civic Si from that era could also be a good alternative, offering better handling and reliability, but it lacks the Tiburon's coupe styling.

Final Verdict: Is the 2006 Hyundai Tiburon a Good Coupe?
It's not recommended if reliability is your top priority or if you need advanced safety features. Be prepared for potential maintenance costs associated with an older vehicle. Ultimately, its value lies in its affordability and sporty aesthetics.

My 2006 Hyundai Tibby !I am the original owner of my 2006 Tib. It's always been garage kept and looks as good as the day I purchased it brand new . Being a mechanic I always keep up on all the maintenance. Not one drop of any fluid has yet hit the floor . Since 2006 the one and only issue I had was a front wheel bearing. I love my car and plan to pass it on one day . Body style and interior easy to love Road handle is tight . Only issue is that I got the manual 2.0 which is very underpowered. Still all in all when I do take it out for a ride people always compliment me on the car . I truly love this car. It's been very good too me. One last thing in my purchase defense, My wife bought one and I was with her the day she did , and my Tibby was the last one on the lot , it was meant to be Lol......

2006 Hyundai Tiburon is a blessing!I have owned the Tiburon since 2006. It is the best car that I've ever owned and probably ever will own. The experience of driving this car is second to none. It drives as if you're in the cockpit of a plane. You're sitting very low to the ground and your seat is molded to your body. My Tiburon was secondhand from a gentleman who served in Iraq and was not able to come back. So for those reasons he sold the car in June of 2008. It was by divine intervention only that I put a note on the window under the windshield wiper with my name and number to buy the vehicle. The car came with several features that were standard. Some of these features were intermittent wipers, heated mirrors, six CD changer with am and FM radio and cassette player built in. It also came with a subwoofer and a great Infinity stereo. It is only been since 2016 that the subwoofer stopped working. But they're still great sound out of the speakers. My Tiburon came standard as a V6 GT model which was purchased in the United States. The standard interior came with black leather seats with red Center inserts, leather door panels and a leather wrap steering wheel and shifter. All the leather seats in the back and front and all interior that was leather had red stitching. It also has a 50/50 split back seat which allows you to carry a lot of things that occur normally wouldn't carry. It served almost as a small truck. The car is very eye-catching with its silver exterior and black tinted glass. It also came with a sunroof and fog lights. The car has a very peppy V6 GT engine that came standard with this model. Most of the original parts are still on the car. I've just started repairing and replacing new parts in 2022. Overall the car has tilt steering, cruise control, ABS brakes, and it also has shifttronic. This comes in very handy if you're in snow or on ice. Overall my car has been a godsend and I've been very blessed to have a car that works and handles so well. I drove from San Antonio Texas back to Nova Scotia and this car was perfect for driving. I didn't receive a tired back or any pain in my body from driving. When driving the Tiburon it's like being in the cock seat of a plane but you're very low to the ground. The seats are very comfortable with a lumbar support and they are tilted to shape your body. Tall or shorter people are still comfortable in this car. Has a lot of leg room but you can also get close enough to the steering wheel if you're shorter. It also helps that it has tilt steering and cruise control which gives you the ability to relieve your back of strain from constant acceleration. My car has saved me thousands of dollars and I haven't had a car payment since 2002. When I bought this car private sale I bought it with cash and I received an excellent deal which gave me the opportunity of buying it out right. As I said before I was very blessed and it was a perfect situation where the car was basically handed to me. I hope this review has helped a few people but I know my car has served me very well and I've been blessed! I forgot one thing to let the readers know my car is a V6 GT model from USA. It's wired totally different than the Canadian models. In 2006 this car cost $27,000 plus tax USA. I bought it for almost a third of this cost. Very very blessed from the man upstairs!

On my second Tib!Like to start off by saying that I enjoy flipping cars for profit and started my journey trading my first 08 tib gs a few years back and in the meanwhile i have owned over 40 different cars finally ending back with a 2006 gt! The tiburon is the best car I have ever owned. So unique and well made compared to its competition of its years. The body is timeless and the interior was heated seat shy of lexus and bmw of its years on inside quality. The car handles extremely well and is a fantastic winter daily with a couple of studded tires on the front if you live in a state that gets lots of snow like i do. My 06 Tiburon currently has 182,xxx miles with a recent valve cover gasket repair and 0 current maintenance required! My first tiburon had 165k when i sold it after driving it for 95 thousand miles only needing to replace the clutch and brakes once! These cars are beyond reliable. These cars were made at a time Hyundai was seriously trying to fix their bad name and made some very quality cars as seen so underrated to many even yet today

Sporty and AgelessThe 2006 Tiburon is the sleekest and sharpest of the model years, and looks like it should be newer than it is! The interior is somewhat small, comfortable for two passengers, but not a lot of leg room for backseat passengers. Very large trunk space! Folding rear seats and removable trunk cover for even more room. Great reliable car and gas mileage.

249000 Miles because of the Service DepartmentMy 2006 Tiberon keeps running because of the excellent service that I receive from VICTOR and the staff at Hyundai of Palatine. 249,000 miles. Victor and the staff make sure the tTeron receives a 27 point safety check every time the oil is changed...which averages every three month!!

I love the Hyundai TiburonI have owned a tiburon se for over ten years with no major malfunction occurring.. the only problem I had was the timing belt broke , and that was my fault for not following recommended guidelines.. so I would suggest being prompt with recommended servicing ..

Okay Car to own. Average Sporty look and FeelCan make a great first car for those who are seeking a sporty/semi-performance car as it offers manageable power and above average sleek looks. Not in any way a performance car in my opinion.
