What Problems Does the 2007 Lexus GS 350 Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2007 Lexus GS 350 include issues with the navigation system, specifically outdated maps and occasional software glitches. Some owners have experienced problems with the variable valve timing (VVT) system, which can lead to rough idling or reduced performance. Oil leaks, particularly from the valve cover gaskets, have also been reported. Premature wear of suspension components, such as bushings and ball joints, is another potential issue to watch out for, especially on vehicles with higher mileage. Dashboard cracking is a known problem, particularly in hot climates.

Regarding recalls, it's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to see if any recalls are outstanding. Potential recalls could address issues with fuel delivery, airbag systems, or other safety-related components.

Long-term reliability concerns primarily revolve around the electronic systems and the aging of rubber components. The Mark Levinson audio system, while excellent, can be prone to failure over time. Regular maintenance, including timely oil changes and fluid flushes, is essential to mitigate potential issues and maintain the vehicle's longevity.

How long will the 2007 Lexus GS 350 last?

With proper maintenance, a 2007 Lexus GS 350 can easily reach 200,000 miles or more and provide 15+ years of service. Many owners report exceeding these figures. Longevity hinges on diligent maintenance, including regular oil changes, timely fluid replacements (transmission, coolant, brake fluid), and addressing minor repairs promptly. Weaknesses over time tend to be related to rubber and plastic components aging (hoses, bushings, interior trim) and potential electronic failures, particularly in the navigation or audio systems. However, the engine and transmission are generally considered very durable. Proper rust prevention is also crucial in colder climates to maximize lifespan.

Bought with 172K on the dash now it has near 178K. only had it for 7 months & this car is super nice. it has all the options available except for AWD. To me it was a xxxx of a deal or just plain luck I got for this car. It gets 21 mpg on city/29 on hwy. Premium fuel only which I don't mind at all.

Bought a 2007 in 2022, has49k on odometer, drives like our Cts caddy did, reminds me of the CTS how it drives and engine performance. Interior is beautiful, car is quiet, no road noise. Well made automobile. Love itΓƒΒ°Γ…ΒΈΓ’β‚¬ΛœΓ‚ΒΓƒΒ°Γ…ΒΈΓ’β‚¬ΛœΓ‚ΒΓƒΒ°Γ…ΒΈΓ’β‚¬ΛœΓ‚Β

Purchased a vehicle but had to return. The brakes neede to be changed, vehicle stability light was on, rattle was under the hood and left tailpipe cover is gone causing a rattling noise in the rear. Interior door panel was lose as well as cigaretter burns in the interior on the door panel (A smoker was definitely the previous owner). There were some minor dings on the car that needed to be fixed but for the most part for the price it was good. My problem was the service I received at Imperial. I had an appointment to sign my paperwork on a sunday at 11 am and no one showed up until 11:45. There were a list of things that needed to be fixed on the car before I picked it up that were still not done. The VSA light was still on, the door panel still lose, the cigarette burns still on the roof. I was told if I take the car a service person would come to me to complete the items that were outstanding. Long story short we couldn't come up with a date and Cliff Melvin (Sales Manager) told me to "return the car so I can sell it to someone else" then hung to phone up on me. I did exactly what he recommended and returned the car to take my business elsewhere. Customer service was poor, promises were not kept and the overall experience with Imperial Auto was a disaster. Would not recommend anyone to buy from them.

Less than 1 year and 15000 Miles after the purchase my GS 350 AWD has squeaky brakes. Apparently this problem is endemic to GS 350 and IS models. There is no cure for it and Lexus as well as Dealerships told me to suck it up. There is unfortunately no safety hazard so they are not pressed to fix it. How ever the loud squeaking every time I brake is driving me mad. Everything else about this car is made irrelevant by this arthritic squeaking.
Disgruntled Lexus Owner
I bought my GS 350 in April of 2007. I've had a rattling noise coming from the rear suspension since about the 4000 mile mark. The Lexus dealership in St. Louis said they couldn't figur out the problem so it still exists. The bigger issue is the squeeking brakes. I've taken the car in twice and they still squeek. The second time they switched out the pad and put ceramic brakes pads on the car but that has not solved the problem. They claim this is simply a problem that some cars have and I should pump the brakes hard at times and that might correct the problem. Buyer beware when purchasing this car!

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Lexus GS 350 came equipped with a range of built-in tech, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features. Standard features included a multi-speaker audio system with a CD player, dual-zone automatic climate control, and keyless entry/ignition. The optional navigation system featured a touchscreen display and voice command functionality. The Mark Levinson premium audio system was another popular upgrade, offering enhanced sound quality.

Driver-assistance features were less advanced compared to modern vehicles, but available options included adaptive cruise control and parking sensors. Safety features included antilock brakes (ABS), stability control, traction control, and a suite of airbags, including front, side, and curtain airbags.

Crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) were generally positive. The IIHS gave the GS 350 a "Good" rating in frontal offset and side impact crash tests. NHTSA awarded the GS 350 five stars in frontal crash tests for both driver and passenger, and five stars for side impact protection. However, it is always essential to consult the latest crash test data from these organizations for the most up-to-date information. Keep in mind that safety technology has advanced significantly since 2007, so it will not have the active safety features present in many new vehicles.

2007 Lexus GS 350 Prices and Market Value

The 2007 Lexus GS 350 had a starting MSRP of around $44,000 when new. Current used market prices typically range from $7,000 to $13,000, depending on condition, mileage, and location. The GS 350 has depreciated significantly over time, which is typical for luxury vehicles. Factors affecting resale value include overall condition, maintenance history, mileage, and the presence of desirable options like the navigation system or Mark Levinson audio. Cars with clean titles and documented service records command higher prices. Location can also play a role; demand in certain regions may influence pricing.

2007 Lexus GS 350 Cost of Ownership

Insurance costs for a 2007 Lexus GS 350 are moderate, typically higher than a non-luxury vehicle but lower than some high-performance cars. Fuel costs are average for a mid-size sedan with a V6 engine. Maintenance can be relatively affordable if routine servicing is followed; however, repairs can be costly due to the Lexus brand and potential for specialized parts. Overall, the GS 350 is neither exceptionally economical nor overly expensive to own, placing it in a middle ground for luxury vehicles. Long term, the key to cost savings is proactive maintenance.

2007 Lexus GS 350 Insurance

Insurance for a 2007 Lexus GS 350 is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Lexus GS 350 Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2007 Lexus GS 350 competed with the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Acura TL. In terms of performance, the BMW 5 Series offered slightly sharper handling, while the GS 350 provided a smoother ride. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class boasted a more luxurious interior, but the GS 350 often held an edge in reliability.

Feature-wise, the GS 350 was competitive, although its infotainment system was less advanced than some rivals, even in 2007. The Acura TL offered similar features at a lower price point but lacked the GS 350's prestige and rear-wheel-drive option. In terms of price, the GS 350 typically sat between the Acura TL and the German competitors.

For buyers prioritizing reliability and a comfortable ride, the GS 350 is a strong contender. If driving dynamics are paramount, the BMW 5 Series might be a better choice. If looking for a similar vehicle with potentially lower initial cost, an Acura TL (Type-S model for enhanced performance) is an option. However, the Lexus offers a balanced combination of luxury, performance, and reliability that's hard to beat in its class, making it a compelling choice on the used market.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Lexus GS 350 a Good Sedan?

The 2007 Lexus GS 350 is an excellent choice for buyers seeking a comfortable, reliable, and reasonably priced luxury sedan. It's ideal for those who appreciate Lexus' reputation for quality and are looking for a refined driving experience without sacrificing dependability. It is certainly worth buying on the used market, provided it has been well-maintained. Look for models with complete service records and avoid examples with high mileage or signs of neglect. The presence of desirable options like the navigation system and Mark Levinson audio can enhance the ownership experience, but are not essential. A pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic is highly recommended.

sporty

Very dependable car, but not practical in New York city, due to potholes. Powerful V6, quiet cabin, flawless interior fit and finish, refined suspension. The 2007 Lexus GS 350 is a joy to drive, thanks to its commendable blend of luxury, power and sporty handling. The V6 engine provides more than enough power for daily commuting and spirited jaunts, and the cabin remains blissfully silent. A rigid body and solid chassis provide confidence during cornering. The all-wheel-drive model is an excellent choice for those who need extra traction control in harsh conditions.
