What Problems Does the 2011 Lexus GS 350 Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2011 Lexus GS 350 are relatively few, which speaks to the car's overall reliability. Some owners have reported minor issues with the navigation system, such as screen malfunctions or software glitches. Oil consumption has been mentioned as a potential issue on higher mileage vehicles, so regular monitoring is recommended. Premature wear of suspension components, such as bushings, has also been noted. Recalls for the 2011 GS 350 are generally limited, but it is crucial to check the vehicle's VIN with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed. Long-term reliability is generally excellent, but preventative maintenance is essential. Keep an eye out for potential water leaks from the sunroof drains as the car ages. Earlier model years in this generation (2006-2007) had some reports of dashboard cracking, although this is less commonly reported on the 2011 model. Overall, the 2011 GS 350 is known for its durability, but thorough inspection and maintenance are vital to avoid potential problems.

How long will the 2011 Lexus GS 350 last?

With proper maintenance, a 2011 Lexus GS 350 can easily exceed 200,000 miles or provide 15+ years of reliable service. Regular oil changes, fluid flushes, and timely replacement of wear items are crucial. The engine and transmission are generally robust. Long-term durability is a strong suit, but neglecting maintenance can lead to issues like increased oil consumption, suspension problems, and potential electronic failures. The leather upholstery and interior trim can show wear with age, but overall, the car holds up well if cared for.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2011 Lexus GS 350 features a decent array of technology for its time. Standard features include a premium sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, and an auxiliary input. The infotainment system, while not touchscreen, is controlled by a joystick-like interface. Optional features include a navigation system with a larger display and real-time traffic updates, and a Mark Levinson premium sound system. Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern cars, but available options included adaptive cruise control and parking sensors. Standard safety features include antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a full suite of airbags. The 2011 Lexus GS 350 earned good crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It received top scores in most categories, indicating a strong level of occupant protection. Blind spot monitoring was not available on this model year. Overall, the 2011 GS 350 offered a solid blend of safety and technology for its era, although it lacks the advanced driver-assistance systems found in newer vehicles.

How Does the 2011 Lexus GS 350 Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2011 Lexus GS 350 competes with the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Acura TL. Compared to the BMW 5 Series, the GS 350 offers similar performance but lacks the BMW's more engaging driving dynamics. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class provides a more luxurious interior but can be more expensive to maintain. The Acura TL offers a similar level of reliability at a lower price point but lacks the GS 350's prestige. In terms of features, the GS 350 is competitive but may lag behind some rivals in infotainment technology. For reliability, the GS 350 often surpasses its European competitors. If a sportier driving experience is desired, the BMW 5 Series is a better choice. If luxury and advanced technology are priorities, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class might be preferable, albeit with potentially higher ownership costs. The Acura TL serves as a more budget-friendly alternative that still offers a comfortable and reliable ride. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities and preferences.

Final Verdict: Is the 2011 Lexus GS 350 a Good Sedan?

The 2011 Lexus GS 350 is ideal for buyers seeking a reliable and comfortable mid-size luxury sedan. It's worth buying, especially on the used market, for its blend of performance, comfort, and Lexus's renowned reliability. Look for models with complete service records and lower mileage. The base GS 350 offers a good balance of features, but models with the navigation system and Mark Levinson audio provide an enhanced experience. If you prioritize sporty handling above all else, consider alternatives, but for a dependable and luxurious daily driver, the 2011 GS 350 is an excellent choice.

Best overall sedan I've driven...

One of the best cars in the snow. Super comfortable to drive. Easy to see all areas. Reliable and quality. There is one rattle when we come to a stop somewhere in the dash I can't seem to get rid of.

Enjoying the ride!

I love the styling and drive of my new car. I get second looks all the time with the Clean white exterior and the black interior. It is stunning. This is my second Lexus. My first was a 1992 SC 400 and I just Donated it to a local charity after almost 20 years of use. It went to auction and sold for $ 2000.00. That is great! I look forward to getting 20 more years from this one too.
