Recalls for the 2016 Model X included issues related to seatbelt failures, parking brake malfunctions, and potential corrosion in the power steering system. Long-term reliability concerns revolved around battery degradation, although Tesla's battery management system generally mitigates significant range loss. The complexity of the vehicle's technology, including the Autopilot system, has also contributed to potential software glitches and system malfunctions over time. How Does the 2016 Tesla Model X Compare to Other Wagon?
Reliability was a major weakness compared to the BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. The Model X was generally more expensive than its rivals when new. Today, used prices are competitive, but potential repair costs remain a concern.
Similar alternatives from the same year are scarce due to limited EV SUV options. A used 2019 or newer Model X addresses some of the reliability concerns of the 2016 model and offers improved Autopilot features, though at a higher price point. If reliability is a top priority, a traditional luxury SUV from BMW, Mercedes, or Audi might be a better choice, but you'll sacrifice the electric powertrain and Tesla's unique features.

Well built and convenientWe bought the 2016 Model X one year ago. So far it has been a great vehicle with outstanding handling. Even on snow and ice (we live near Spokane, WA) it did much better than I expected. The vehicle is heavy and sturdy. Back in September I had a deer run into the car just in front of the drivers door while I was going 55 mph. I was surprised at how little damage the car sustained. You can’t beat the convenience of ‘fueling’ at home.

Tesla is a jokeYou don’t actually own the car. They turn off functions and features without your knowledge or consent. Things you payed for are taken away remotely while you sleep like a thief in the night.

Way ahead of everyone else.Crown Jewel of SUVs. The very best in safety, performance, user-friendliness, convenience and healthiness. The only thing less than ideal is the exterior when the falcon wing is not opened.
