			The Good
The 2020 Toyota 86 offers engaging performance thanks to its responsive engine and balanced chassis, appealing to emotional buyers seeking driving thrills. Its Toyota reliability provides peace of mind for practical buyers. While not the most comfortable, the design is sporty and attractive, and fuel efficiency is reasonable for a sports car, making it a good value overall.
The Bad
The 2020 Toyota 86's weaknesses include a somewhat underpowered engine, especially at lower RPMs. The interior materials are basic, and the rear seats are cramped, making it impractical for carrying passengers regularly. Also, watch out for potential oil starvation issues in earlier models if driven aggressively on track.

What Problems Does the 2020 Toyota 86 Have?
Another less frequent concern is the possibility of fuel pump failure, though this is not exclusive to the 86 and can occur in other vehicles. Some owners have also noted minor issues with the infotainment system, such as occasional glitches or slow response times.
Recalls for the 86 have been relatively limited. It's always best to check the NHTSA website for the most up-to-date recall information for any specific vehicle you are considering. Long-term reliability is generally good, but as with any sports car, diligent maintenance and careful driving habits are crucial to preventing problems and ensuring longevity. Regular oil changes, proper break-in procedures, and avoiding excessive abuse can help keep the engine and other components in good condition.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are limited compared to modern vehicles. A rearview camera is standard, but advanced safety systems like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, or adaptive cruise control are not available. This reinforces the 86's focus on driver involvement.
Safety features include standard stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, and a suite of airbags. Crash test ratings from IIHS and NHTSA may vary depending on the specific year and testing methodology. It's recommended to check the official websites for the most accurate and up-to-date safety information. Optional features were typically limited to appearance packages and performance upgrades like exhaust systems or suspension components.

How Does the 2020 Toyota 86 Compare to Other Coupe?
Regarding features, the 86 is relatively basic compared to newer competitors. Reliability is a strong point for both the 86 and BRZ. Price-wise, the 86 is typically competitive, offering good value for the performance and driving experience it provides.
Alternatives to consider include the Mazda MX-5 Miata if a convertible and ultimate handling are desired, or the Subaru WRX if more power and all-wheel drive are preferred, though at a higher price point. The Honda Civic Si can also be a good alternative, offering a balance of performance, practicality, and affordability. Overall, the 86 remains a solid choice for those prioritizing driving engagement and affordability.

Final Verdict: Is the 2020 Toyota 86 a Good Coupe?

Good carI like mine. As has been stated on other sites, the only drawbacks are low power from the engine (by design) and the super small backseats (also by design). As long as you're not looking for a full size car or a racer then this car will suit you well. Sporty and handles well. That's what it is designed for, it is one of the most stable sports cars outside of getting into higher range vehicles.
