The Good
The 2014 Cruze offers a comfortable and relatively quiet ride, appealing to those prioritizing comfort. Its fuel efficiency, particularly with the Eco model, is a practical advantage. The available turbocharged engine provides decent performance. The Cruze's styling is modern and appealing, while its competitive pricing provides good value for money, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers seeking a reliable and comfortable compact car.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2014 Cruze include reported issues with the 1.4L turbo engine, such as coolant leaks and turbocharger problems. Some owners have also reported transmission issues. Additionally, the rear seat space can be a bit tight for taller passengers. Pre-purchase inspections are recommended to check for these potential issues.

What Problems Does the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Have?
Recalls for the 2014 Cruze have addressed issues such as potential air bag deployment problems, fuel leaks, and brake system malfunctions. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN with the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) to ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed.
Long-term reliability concerns generally focus on the longevity of the 1.4L turbo engine and the automatic transmission. Regular maintenance, including timely oil changes and coolant flushes, can help mitigate some of these issues. However, the Cruze's reputation for reliability is somewhat mixed, with some owners experiencing few problems while others encounter significant repairs. Some earlier model years (2011-2013) had reports of similar issues, suggesting these problems weren't entirely resolved by 2014. The diesel model generally fares better in terms of engine reliability but can have its own unique maintenance requirements.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Optional features could include a sunroof, upgraded audio system, and navigation system.
The 2014 Chevrolet Cruze performed well in crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). NHTSA gave it an overall safety rating of 5 stars. The IIHS awarded the Cruze a "Top Safety Pick" rating. It's important to note that these ratings are specific to the 2014 model year and can vary for other years. The Cruze provides a decent level of safety for its class, with good crash protection and standard safety features, but lacks the advanced driver-assistance systems found in newer vehicles.

How Does the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Compare to Other Sedan?
However, the Cruze's reliability record is a point of concern compared to the class leaders. Both the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla consistently score higher in reliability surveys. If reliability is a top priority, the Civic or Corolla would be better choices, despite their slightly higher price. The Mazda3 offers a more sporty driving experience and stylish design. The Ford Focus, while fun to drive, has also faced some reliability issues. A well-maintained 2012-2015 Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla would likely be a better alternative for someone seeking a reliable and long-lasting compact car.

Final Verdict: Is the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze a Good Sedan?

from what I'm seeing other people report, the 1.from what I'm seeing other people report, the 1.4 turbo is the problem. I have the LS 1.8 and yes I have replaced the water pump but it was not driven hot so it did not damage the head gasket or block. it has 180,000 miles on it and runs like a new one. the comfort and handling makes up for the lack of power although it has enough. it's not a Camaro or a Corvette but it's a xxxx good Car.

This car and almost every other one has an issue whereThis car and almost every other one has an issue where the Infotainment Screen will go out and the Power Steering goes out and Traction Control and Stabilitrak will stop working AS YOU ARE DRIVING! What is fun is when you are rounding a curve or pulling out in front of traffic and the Steering goes out. This needs to be a recall ASAP. Very Dangerous

I have driven this car back and forth to work and around town multiple times, with no issues. I have the LS trim with the 1.8. I can say the LS trim lacks many features, but still provides easy to use technology and a comfortable ride.

Run away from this xxxxIs the worst car I had, you need a big fat wallet to repair this xxxx, glad is not under production any more. Cavalier was a real good car, even the cobalt, but the Chevy Cruze is the worst Chevy car, is an insult for consumers, beware with this trash car, and if you have love by yourself, don't buy this kind of cars, the 1.4 engine is a big piece of xxxx.

This Car has Not Failed MeI got this car with 76k on it and it now is close to hitting 200k and is showing no signs of giving up. I do have the '14 LT model. I have, however, followed the maintenance schedule included the necessary tune-ups, transmission flushes, oil changes, and part replacements. There is nothing that has been replaced that is not surprising considering how many miles have been put on the car. The car has not disappointed me and has run as expected. It has also been run all over New England and a good portion of the East Coast and through most terrains. It has handled just as well in the rough Northern NY winters as it does in the summers. I would gladly buy this car again.

This Car Is The One!I used this car as a daily driver and bought it with 11,000 miles on the clock. These things are known for issues but with the proper maintenance you get a lot less of those it’s been a great car to me and hasn’t actually given me any of those issues so far. I love it.

Buyer bewareBought 2014 with 10K miles. Great until about 60K. Turbo failure. Constant Check Engine Light on and when scanned gives a host of possibilities for the failure. Some cheap, some expensive. At 130K miles, still fighting the check engine light with the common P0420 and P0299, emissions and boost respectively after changing a host of parts. Limping my kid through college and this one is gone!

Glad they stopped making the Cruze!Personally I hate this car and am stuck with it! It has cost me money pretty much since day one. Car didn't even come equipped with cruise control. The color has had issues with paint. I've already put over 600.00 in it this year. It was supposed to give me some peace of mind, after going thru hell with cancer, etc. I'd get rid of it tomorrow if I was financially able to. Now, it is causing my lumbar area to ache horribly! List goes on and on.

I love my Cruze😊I’ve got 110,045 miles on a 2014 Cruze. Up until a month ago it has needed 4 tires, a battery, and a water pump. Recently the engine surged. Sometimes slightly. Sometimes too often. Dealer repaired this problem and a leaking oil pan for $1300. Runs like new!! Car looks and runs great. I do get free oil changes every 5000 miles.

Get vehicle certified before even consideringLet me say this…I am a huge fan of all vehicles. And I have owned some amazing GM cars. But my Cruze was horrendous. It broke down 15 times in a year with major problems. And Chevy corporate wouldn’t call me back. The Chevy dealer helped a lot. But no one can figure out how to fix it. 3 catalytic converters in 1 year. Unreal.
