What Problems Does the 2000 Chrysler Sebring Have?
Electrical problems are another frequent concern. Issues with the car's electrical system can manifest in various ways, such as malfunctioning power windows, door locks, and issues with the car's computer system. Rust is a concern, especially in regions with road salt. The undercarriage and body panels are susceptible to corrosion, which can compromise structural integrity. Recalls were issued for certain model years concerning faulty airbags and other safety-related issues. It's important to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls. Owners have also reported issues with the car's air conditioning system and premature wear of brake components. Overall, the 2000 Sebring requires diligent maintenance and careful inspection to address its known weaknesses.
How long will the 2000 Chrysler Sebring last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included standard front airbags and anti-lock brakes (ABS) were often optional, especially on lower trims. Side airbags were not generally available. Crash test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) varied. Some models received good scores for frontal crash protection, while side-impact protection ratings were typically lower. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ratings, if available, would provide further insights into crashworthiness.
Optional features varied by trim level and included power windows, power locks, air conditioning, cruise control, and alloy wheels. The LXi trim offered leather seats and possibly a sunroof. Overall, the Sebring's tech and safety features were adequate for its era but lacked the sophistication of modern vehicles. Buyers looking for advanced safety or entertainment should consider newer models.

How Does the 2000 Chrysler Sebring Compare to Other Convertible?
Considering reliability and long-term value, the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are generally better alternatives. While they might cost slightly more upfront (even on the used market), their lower maintenance costs and greater longevity often make them a more economical choice in the long run. If looking for a similar price point, the Ford Taurus or Chevrolet Malibu might present more reliable alternatives, but thorough inspection is still recommended. For the convertible experience, consider a Mazda Miata for a more engaging driving experience or a Ford Mustang convertible for a more robust and potentially more reliable option, although at a higher price point.

Final Verdict: Is the 2000 Chrysler Sebring a Good Convertible?

I loved and still do love this car!!!!!I purchased this car brand new off the showroom floor and have not had much trouble with it at all until someone tried to steal it. I didn't have much trouble with my car at all until late 2018 and some of 2019. A neat thief (he only damaged the ignition switch) tried to steal my car and every since then, ignition problems have occurred. But I finally got it totally repaired (timing belt and all only 168,000 miles on it) and it still runs like a champ. I am beginning to experience a lot of problems relating to the wheel bearings and stuff more frequently than not, but nothing with the engine, transmission, major repairs. I wish they would bring back the large roomy Sebring JXi convertible, as I would buy it again. I love this car. You go Chrysler.

Best car I have owned.Bought this car used in 2009 with 30000 miles on it. It is now 19 years old and it has 90000 miles on it. I keep it garaged and use it daily. No problems with it! Love it!

Why can't Chrysler/Fiat make more cars like thisI've had two Sebring Convertibles and they are excellent. One was a 1998 and 2000. I wish they would make more like these cars. Though the Challengers have been great.

2000 Chrysler Sebring lxiFor having purchased a pre-owned vehicle it has served its purpose. How ever the manufacturer alignment is unsatisfactory, because of the inside tire ware on front and rear tires. The alignment did not change anything. Very dissatisfied with having to buy new tires every 5,000 miles.

Nice 2000 Chrystler carOnly thing I don't like about the car is that it has leather seats. I personally prefer cloth but I guess I could get cloth type seat covers for the front. Owner is putting in a brand new transmission and a brand new engine so I am seriously considering buying it myself. Everything is is great except for a little hand sized area of sun damaged paint near the sun roof. Probably just a food mark though since it needs a car wash. Bit dusty from the last rain storm a few months ago, but obviously been waxed and kept up either way.

In Love With This CarI have the Sebring Lxi Coupe. I purchased this car used, out of a man's yard (great condition, only 1 owner) back in 2010 and it has really been one of my greatest purchases yet! Still in love with this car. I have had to do expected maintenance over the years (it is 17yrs old now) but she still runs like a dream. I hope to purchase a new car soon but only if I can keep my Sebring. I do not want to get rid of her at all. She still runs great and still has that get up and go about her. Great quality car!!!

2012 Acura TLI was looking to get out of a lease and wanted to find an affordable car. I found this convertible and although the car was 13 years old, everything in it worked. No engine checks, smooth running and no one would believe I paid so little. If your looking for the biggest bang for the buck, this car is it!
