What Problems Does the 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE Have?

The 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE, while a stunning vehicle, has been subject to some frequently reported problems. Several owners have noted issues with the infotainment system, particularly its responsiveness and occasional glitches. Electrical system gremlins, such as sensor malfunctions and warning light issues, have also been reported. Some owners have experienced problems with the cooling system, leading to potential overheating.
Recalls for the 2019 model year have included issues related to the fuel delivery system and potential fire risks in certain configurations. Long-term reliability can be a concern, with some owners reporting premature wear of suspension components and brake systems.
It's essential to thoroughly inspect any potential purchase, checking for any signs of electrical problems, ensuring the infotainment system functions correctly, and reviewing the service history for any recurring issues. Pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is highly recommended. Some model years prior to 2019 had similar infotainment issues, so these problems aren't necessarily unique to this year but should be considered.

How long will the 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE last?

With proper maintenance, a 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE can provide 100,000 to 150,000 miles or 10-12 years of service. However, its long-term durability can be influenced by driving style and maintenance habits. Weaknesses over time may include suspension component wear, brake system issues, and potential electrical system failures. Regular servicing, including oil changes, fluid checks, and timely replacement of wear items, is crucial to maximizing its lifespan. Keeping it garaged and avoiding harsh driving conditions can also help preserve its condition.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE comes equipped with a suite of tech, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features. The standard infotainment system includes a touchscreen display, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto).
Driver-assistance features include lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and parking sensors. Optional features may include blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view camera system.
Entertainment features often included premium audio systems from Meridian, offering enhanced sound quality.
As for safety, the F-TYPE includes standard airbags, anti-lock brakes, and stability control. Crash-test ratings from agencies like NHTSA and IIHS can vary, but typically, sports cars don't undergo the same rigorous testing as mainstream vehicles. Therefore, official ratings may be limited. Always check the most up-to-date safety information from official sources. The inclusion of these features enhances both the driving experience and overall safety.

2019 Jaguar F-TYPE Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE ranged from approximately $61,000 to over $125,000 depending on the trim and options. Current used market prices vary significantly based on condition, mileage, and trim level, typically ranging from $40,000 to $80,000+. The F-TYPE depreciates at a moderate rate for a sports car. Factors affecting resale value include condition, mileage, service history, and the desirability of specific trims (e.g., the SVR holds its value better). Lower mileage, a clean title, and a well-documented maintenance record will command higher prices.

2019 Jaguar F-TYPE Cost of Ownership

The 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE is generally considered costly to own. Insurance premiums are higher due to its sports car classification and performance capabilities. Fuel costs can be significant, especially with the supercharged V6 and V8 engines. Maintenance and repair costs are also above average, as Jaguar parts and service can be expensive. Long-term ownership costs should be carefully considered, factoring in potential repairs and the need for specialized servicing.

2019 Jaguar F-TYPE Insurance

Insurance for a 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Coupe with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE Compare to Other Coupe?

The 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE competes with sports cars like the Porsche 718 Cayman/Boxster, Audi R8, BMW Z4, and Chevrolet Corvette. In terms of performance, the F-TYPE offers comparable power, especially with the V8 engines, but the Porsche often edges ahead in handling precision. The F-TYPE's design is arguably more striking than some rivals. Regarding features, the infotainment system can feel dated compared to the latest offerings from Audi and BMW.
Reliability is a key area where the F-TYPE lags behind Porsche and, arguably, BMW. The Corvette offers a similar performance level at a more competitive price.
Alternatives: If reliability is a top priority, the Porsche 718 is a better choice. For outright performance value, the Chevrolet Corvette is a strong contender. The BMW Z4 offers a blend of performance and luxury. The Audi R8 sits in a higher price bracket but offers supercar performance and technology. The F-TYPE stands out for its distinct British character and design.

Final Verdict: Is the 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE a Good Coupe?

The 2019 Jaguar F-TYPE is ideal for buyers seeking a stylish and exhilarating sports car with a distinctive British character. It's worth buying if you appreciate its design and are willing to accept potentially higher running costs. A used F-TYPE can be a good value, especially if you opt for a well-maintained example with a comprehensive service history. Consider the V6 or V8 models for a more engaging driving experience, but be mindful of fuel consumption. A pre-purchase inspection is strongly recommended to identify any potential issues before committing to a purchase. It's a heart-over-head purchase.

Powerful valiue

Second F Type (accident last one-also V8-current SVR 575HP vs 495 last). Best value of any sports car, except Miata. Look at power, compare to cars costing 50%-100% higher. Wonderful exhaust, although not as growly as first ( monel vs titanium).

Most "Fun to Drive Car" I have ever owned

An absolutely "head turning" beautiful car. This is my second F-Type R. I traded an SL550 in for a 2016 F-Type. The SL was certainly more luxurious but not nearly as much fun to drive. My only real gripe with the 2016 was the cumbersome infotainment system. It did not have voice activation and was slow in response time. The 2019 has a vastly improved unit with Apple Car Play/Android Auto and is very competitive with other manufacturer's units. The seats and interior room are fine for someone 5'10" but I think would be a little cramped for someone much over about 6'2". Only real complaint I have is the lack of storage in the cockpit. They even took out a small compartment between the seats which my 2016 had. (Not sure why) As you could expect the handling and performance from an AWD sports car with 550 HP is amazing. The ride and handling in the base configuration are firm but not too firm. If you select a more performance-oriented setup, which you can do on the fly, the car does become rough but that is to be expected. I think the value of what you get for your money is good but Jaguars in general seem to depreciate more thatnother cars in this price range. Lastly, this is my fourth Jaguar. I have owned a '67 XKE, a 2001 XKR, a 2016 F-Type R and this 2019 F-Type R. The '67 truly had some reliability issues. The old question, "Why do the British drink warm beer?" "Because their refrigerators are made by Lucas" was appropriate but the only problem I had with my last three was a fuel pump failure in the 2001 after about 5 years. Otherwise, they have been problem free. The 5-year 60K "bumper to bumper" warranty and 5 years free maintenance shows Jaguars confidence in their product and my experience says that is so. I truly love this car and with a set of winter tires the AWD makes this a year-round car.

Jaguar F-type

I wanted a smaller well designed performance coupe and that's exactly what I got. The only wish would be a little more space to place things I commonly carry. The car has almost no carrying niches other than two cup holders.

What's not to like

We've only owned the car for a couple of weeks but have yet to find anything we don't like. The interior and exterior are beautifully designed and the performance is top notch. You don't spend this kind of money without careful research. It has not disappointed
