The Good
The 2010 Jeep Commander offered robust performance, especially with the optional V8, and classic Jeep styling appealing to emotional buyers. Its three-row seating provides practicality for families. While reliability can be a concern, when properly maintained, it offers decent value for its off-road capabilities and passenger space. Comfort levels vary depending on the trim.
The Bad
Known weaknesses of the 2010 Jeep Commander include its below-average fuel economy, particularly with the V8 engine. Reliability can be spotty, with potential issues in the electrical system and drivetrain. The third-row seating is cramped, and the overall ride quality isn't as refined as some competitors. Watch for rust, especially in northern climates.

What Problems Does the 2010 Jeep Commander Have?
How long will the 2010 Jeep Commander last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles, but included available features like rear parking sensors. Standard safety features included anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, and multiple airbags (front, side, and side curtain).
Optional safety features included side curtain airbags for all three rows and a tire pressure monitoring system. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) crash-test ratings for the 2010 Jeep Commander were generally acceptable for its class, with good scores in frontal and side-impact tests. However, rollover ratings were lower. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ratings vary, but generally indicate moderate protection in frontal offset and side-impact tests. The lack of advanced driver-assistance systems like blind-spot monitoring or lane departure warning is a notable absence compared to newer vehicles.

How Does the 2010 Jeep Commander Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
In terms of performance, the Commander's V8 engines are competitive, but fuel economy suffers. Features-wise, it offers similar amenities to its rivals, but its interior design is less refined. Regarding price, the Commander is often cheaper on the used market than the 4Runner, but higher than the TrailBlazer.
Alternatives to consider include the Toyota 4Runner for superior reliability and off-road capability, the Honda Pilot for better fuel economy and on-road comfort, or the Acura MDX for a more luxurious experience. If off-roading isn't a priority, these alternatives may be better choices, as the Commander sacrifices practicality and fuel efficiency for its Jeep heritage.

I've got the 5.I've got the 5.7 Hemi, Limited version with all options. Very comfortable. Nice for trailering and launching boats. If traveling with a family, the 3rd row seats are enough for young kids, but very little room for luggage when 3rd row is in use. Now 14 years old 130k miles. No reliability issues with engine or trans, but does now have some unexpected rust through in rear wheel well. My wife wants me to get something newer with better MPG, (i get about 16 now) but I'm not inclined to get rid of this. I think it could last another 100k. My dog loves it and goes everywhere with me, all seats fold down in back to give her a flat floor which is also convenient for hauling stuff.

Best Car I've Ever OwnedI have a 2006 Red Jeep Commander, V8 4wd, and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have had no problems whatsoever and the only costs incurred were for the usual mantenance of a car: tires, battery, fluids and oil changed faithfully at recommended mileage, etc. It has 3 rows of seats and although I don't use the extra row since the kids are gone, it's there if I need it. In a nutshell, whatever maintence is required, I do it. I have a great mechanic and he has babied my Jeep. My Jeep is fun to drive, its red and purrs like a kitten! What more can you ask for.

" Commander Cody "I sh..t. You. Not..this suv is like brand new. Not a spec of rust or surface rust. Not a tear or fade inside. It's amazing. That means Cody was well taken care of.

Pretty decent vehicle for traveling and towingOverall this vehicle is very comfortable and easy to work on when it came time for stuff to be fixed and maintenance is definitely a breeze and user friendly. I never had any major issues with this vehicle at all and do enjoy it, however it isn?t very practical for someone towing a trailer larger than 10ft but it does the job, I?m sure the 4.7L and 5.7L v8 don?t have the same issue, but the 3.7L could use a bit more power but overall am fairly impressed with the vehicle.
