The Good

The 2014 Lincoln MKX offers a comfortable and quiet ride, appealing to those seeking relaxed cruising. Its spacious interior provides practicality, while the elegant design offers a touch of luxury without the premium price tag. While not a performance vehicle, its V6 engine delivers adequate power. What Problems Does the 2014 Lincoln MKX Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2014 Lincoln MKX often revolve around the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system. Many users have complained about its slow response times, glitches, and overall unreliability. This system can affect various functions, including navigation, audio, and climate control. While updates were released to address these issues, some owners continued to experience problems.

Another potential concern is the power liftgate, with some reports of it malfunctioning or failing to operate correctly. Issues with the climate control system, such as inconsistent heating or cooling, have also been noted. Mechanically, the 3.7L V6 engine is generally considered reliable, but proper maintenance is crucial to avoid issues.

Regarding recalls, it's essential to check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website for any specific recalls affecting the 2014 MKX model year. Some recalls may address issues related to safety systems or component failures. Long-term reliability concerns typically involve the aforementioned electronic issues and potential wear and tear on suspension components and other mechanical parts. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes and inspections, can help mitigate some of these concerns.

How long will the 2014 Lincoln MKX last?

A 2014 Lincoln MKX, with proper maintenance, could realistically reach 150,000 to 200,000 miles or more. The lifespan depends heavily on how well it's been cared for. Regular oil changes, timely servicing of the transmission, and addressing issues promptly are crucial. Long-term durability may be affected by the MyLincoln Touch system, which can become outdated or fail over time. Suspension components and drivetrain parts may also require replacement as the vehicle ages. Rust can be a concern in regions with harsh winters.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2014 Lincoln MKX boasts a respectable array of tech and safety features for its time. Standard tech includes the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, satellite radio, and a premium audio system. Entertainment options include a CD player and available THX II Certified sound system. Driver-assistance features, depending on the trim and options, may include blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and a rearview camera.

How Does the 2014 Lincoln MKX Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2014 Lincoln MKX competes with vehicles like the Lexus RX 350, Cadillac SRX, and Acura MDX. In terms of performance, the MKX's V6 engine is adequate but not as refined as some competitors. Feature-wise, it offers a good range of standard and available options, though the MyLincoln Touch system is a known weak point compared to Lexus's infotainment system, for example. Reliability is a mixed bag, with some owners experiencing few issues while others struggle with the infotainment system and other electronics. The Lexus RX 350 is generally considered more reliable.

Price-wise, the MKX can be a more affordable option in the used market compared to the Lexus RX 350. If reliability is a top priority, the Lexus RX 350 is a better alternative. The Acura MDX offers more seating and is a strong contender if you need a three-row SUV. The Cadillac SRX provides a sportier driving experience. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities and budget. Consider the Mazda CX-9 for similar features and improved driving dynamics at a potentially lower price point.
