The Good
The 2006 CL-Class delivers powerful performance with its V8 or V12 engines, ensuring exhilarating acceleration. Its active suspension provides a supremely comfortable ride. The stunning coupe design and luxurious interior appeal to the emotional buyer, while features like advanced safety systems and a solid build quality attract the practical buyer. While not the most fuel-efficient, its long-distance cruising ability is a major advantage.
The Bad
The 2006 CL-Class is known for potential issues with its complex systems. The Active Body Control (ABC) suspension can be expensive to repair. Electrical problems, including issues with the infotainment system and various sensors, are common. High maintenance costs are a significant factor, especially for the V12 models. Rust can also be a concern in certain climates, especially on earlier models.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2006 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class Have?
Engine issues can also arise, particularly with the V12 models (CL600 and CL65 AMG). These engines are complex and require specialized maintenance, increasing the likelihood of expensive repairs. Turbocharger issues, oil leaks, and cooling system problems are potential concerns.
While recalls for the 2006 CL-Class are relatively limited compared to some other vehicles, it's essential to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any outstanding recalls related to safety or emissions.
Long-term reliability is a concern due to the car's age and complexity. Regular maintenance is crucial to prevent significant problems. The car's value declines steeply due to these potential maintenance costs, reflecting the market's perception of its long-term reliability.
How long will the 2006 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Optional features included Distronic adaptive cruise control (maintaining a set distance from the vehicle ahead), Keyless Go (keyless entry and start), massaging seats, and upgraded leather upholstery. Some models also featured Parktronic parking sensors.
Crash-test ratings for the 2006 CL-Class are somewhat limited. While the car was built to high safety standards, official NHTSA or IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ratings are not readily available. However, Mercedes-Benz vehicles of this era were known for their robust construction and safety engineering. The numerous airbags and advanced stability systems contributed to occupant protection. The car's weight and size also provided an advantage in collisions.

How Does the 2006 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class Compare to Other Vehicle?
However, the CL-Class lags behind in reliability compared to the Lexus SC 430, which is known for its bulletproof reliability. The BMW 6 Series offers a sportier driving experience, while the Jaguar XK provides a more classic British grand tourer feel.
In terms of price on the used market, the CL-Class is often less expensive than some rivals, reflecting its higher maintenance costs and lower perceived reliability. Alternatives to the CL-Class include the Lexus SC 430 for reliability, the BMW 6 Series for a sportier drive, or a newer Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe for modern features and greater reliability, albeit at a higher price point. Considering the age and potential repair bills, a well-maintained Lexus SC 430 represents a more sensible choice for most buyers seeking a reliable luxury coupe.

A Must haveThe best looking Mercedes coupe to this day. Mine has been very reliable and inexpensive to own. I've owned both the CL600 and the CL500. I feel like the CL500 is a bit better overall. It's lighter and that makes a difference. The interior and options are all you could ask for. Driving this car makes you feel special.

Great CarI enjoyed this vehicle more than any other I have owned. It is a real value for the money. However, at about 120K miles a few expensive things went wrong and had to be fixed.

super awesome testosterone producing Benzi picked this baby up because the 2006 cl models clearly are the best looking Mercedes coupes. The newer ones are great if you like to have people think you are driving a Hyundai. the standard cl 500 has awesome Power and comfort. the car handles like a much smaller vehicle. the interior is plush and quiet and the sound system is unbeatable. for a little more than buying a Toyota scion you can have the best coupe on the market today and the one that still looks the nicest.

Ultimate carWikopedia said it all- Rates with the Farrari and the Bentley. This is the GT to own, and what a true GT Coupe it is! What a pleasure to wrap yourself into the seats and enjoy one of the greatestest cars on the road. Will handle and keep up with most any sports car and you get the true luxury of its ride. This thing will nail you into the seat when you open it up, yet can cruise like a floating feather. What a ride. Worth twice as much as the value that they are going for. The quality of this car IS EXCEPTIONAL.
