The 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer is a mid-size SUV with a body-on-frame construction, offering ruggedness and towing capability. Produced from 2002 to 2009, it came in various trims, including the LS, LT, and LTZ. Key features included available V8 power and optional four-wheel drive. Its popularity stemmed from its blend of SUV utility and truck-like capabilities. Original pricing ranged approximately from $27,000 to $35,000, depending on the trim and options.
The Good

The 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer offered a strong V8 engine option for impressive performance and towing, appealing to practical buyers needing utility. Its spacious interior provided comfort for families. While fuel efficiency wasn't its strength, its robust design and reputation for reasonable reliability provided good value for money. The truck-based platform offered a sense of security and capability, an emotional draw for some buyers.

The Bad

The 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer's weaknesses include below-average fuel economy, especially with the V8 engine. Some owners reported issues with the electrical system and the HVAC system. Suspension components and the transmission can also be prone to wear and tear, requiring attention. Rust can be a concern in colder climates.

What Problems Does the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer include issues with the HVAC system, particularly the blend door actuator, which can cause problems with temperature control. Electrical issues, such as problems with the instrument cluster, power windows, and door locks, are also commonly reported. The four-wheel-drive system, if equipped, can experience failures. Suspension components, including ball joints and control arm bushings, are prone to wear and may require replacement.
Transmission issues, such as rough shifting or slipping, have been reported, especially at higher mileage. Engine issues are less common, but some owners have reported problems with oil consumption or sensor failures. Rust, particularly on the undercarriage and body panels, is a concern, especially in areas with road salt.
Recalls for the 2007 Trailblazer have addressed issues such as faulty ignition switches and problems with the fuel system. Checking the vehicle's VIN on the NHTSA website is recommended to identify any outstanding recalls.
Long-term reliability concerns primarily revolve around the durability of the electrical and HVAC systems, as well as potential transmission and suspension issues. Regular maintenance and addressing problems promptly can help extend the vehicle's lifespan.

How long will the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer last?

A well-maintained 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer can realistically reach 200,000 miles or more. With average annual mileage of 12,000-15,000 miles, this translates to potentially 13-16+ years of service.
However, long-term durability depends heavily on maintenance. Neglecting routine maintenance can significantly shorten its lifespan. Key weaknesses over time include wear on suspension components, potential transmission issues, and electrical problems as previously discussed. Rust can also accelerate deterioration, especially in regions with harsh winters.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer featured a basic level of built-in tech for its time. Standard entertainment usually included an AM/FM radio with a CD player. Higher trims might offer features such as a premium Bose audio system and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system as optional extras. Driver-assistance features were limited, with standard features like anti-lock brakes (ABS) and traction control.
Safety features included front airbags and side-impact airbags (optional on some trims). Stability control (StabiliTrak) was available.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) varied depending on the specific test. The Trailblazer generally received good ratings for frontal crash protection but lower ratings for side-impact protection. It’s crucial to check specific ratings for the 2007 model year on the NHTSA website for detailed information.
Overall, the Trailblazer's tech and safety features were typical for vehicles of its era. Modern vehicles offer significantly more advanced driver-assistance and infotainment systems. Keep in mind the technology is quite dated compared to vehicles produced today.

2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer ranged from approximately $27,000 to $35,000, depending on the trim level and options. Currently, used market prices typically range from $3,000 to $8,000, depending on condition, mileage, and location.
The Trailblazer has depreciated significantly due to its age, mileage, and the availability of newer, more fuel-efficient SUVs. Factors affecting resale value include overall condition, maintenance records, mileage, and the presence of desirable options like four-wheel drive or leather seats. A clean title and absence of mechanical issues are crucial for maximizing resale value.

2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer Cost of Ownership

Insurance costs for a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer are typically moderate, but can vary based on driving history and location. Fuel costs are high due to the vehicle's poor fuel economy. Maintenance and repair costs can be moderate to high, depending on the vehicle's condition and the need for repairs on older components. Long-term ownership can be costly if significant repairs are needed. Overall, the 2007 Trailblazer is not particularly economical to own compared to more modern SUVs.

2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer Insurance

Insurance for a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a WT with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer Compare to Other WT?

The 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer competed with SUVs like the Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Toyota 4Runner. In terms of performance, the Trailblazer's V8 engine offered comparable power to the Explorer and Grand Cherokee but lagged behind the 4Runner's reliability reputation. The Explorer offered a more refined ride, while the Grand Cherokee had better off-road capability.
Features-wise, the Trailblazer was competitive for its time, but the Explorer and Grand Cherokee often offered more advanced options. The 4Runner, however, prioritized ruggedness and reliability over cutting-edge features. Reliability was a mixed bag for the Trailblazer; some owners experienced few issues, while others faced electrical or mechanical problems. The 4Runner is typically considered more reliable.
In terms of price, the Trailblazer often offered a good value proposition on the used market compared to the 4Runner, which tends to hold its value well.
Alternatives to consider include the Toyota 4Runner for superior reliability and off-road capability (albeit at a higher price point), or a newer, more fuel-efficient SUV like a Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4 if fuel economy is a priority. The Ford Explorer is a similar alternative, though also has potential reliability concerns to consider.

Ranks #1028 SUV

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer a Good WT?

The 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer is ideal for buyers seeking a capable and affordable SUV with towing capacity on a budget. It's worth buying *used* if found in good condition with documented maintenance records and a pre-purchase inspection to identify potential issues. The LT or LTZ trims offer more features. However, potential buyers should be aware of the vehicle's age, potential reliability concerns, and poor fuel economy. It's a reasonable choice for someone who needs a truck-like SUV for occasional towing or hauling but isn't overly concerned with fuel efficiency or the latest technology.

Love the Power and performance. Comfortable, and i would recommend one to any one looking for that sort of vehicle. Problem is they are hard to come by because of only in production 4 years.

Feed Your Need For Speed

One night I heard the voice of Ricky Bobby in my head. He was whispering 4 words to me. “I WANNA GO FAST!” It was then that I knew what I had to do. 395 hp, 6.0L Corvette motor, AWD, room for 5 plus luggage, rear airbag suspension for towing, leather interior, traction control off switch on the shifter, 11.8 mpg on Super Unleaded. The 2006-2010 Chevy Trailblazer SS. My second one. The first one, a low miles 2008 I owned when I lived in Michigan and in Detroit there are no rules. Cold Air Intake, Engine and Trans Tune, 3 inch exhaust, top speed limiter delete. The one I have now I found here on cars.com. A 2007 with 89k miles. One owner. Love it just like I did the first. My daily driver. They say the faster you go time slows down. I’ve found the fountain of youth. Good thing I listened to Ricky Bobby.

I purchased it new in June 2006 as an 2007 LS.

Overall; it is a reliable car but; it comes with a great cost. Missed the recalls about the electric system with my driver’s speaker that does not work again after a repair at the dealership; fixed the evaporation System; power steering hoses leakage; the ABS ; radiator hoses for overheating. Right now it in for new Struts and shocks as well as a driver’s side noise at high speed. Also the left and right turn signals do not chime anymore even if they stay on for more than 30 seconds. Finally, the anti-skip light comes on and causes hesitations at sudden takeoff. If you are about to buy a used one ,have a mechanic to help. The only recall I did not miss was a fuel gauge giving a false reading even with a full tank. Thank you!

Powerful, comfortable, and stylish.

Power, comfort, and style is great. Very fun to drive. Gas mileage is poor for what it is. Smaller than a Tahoe but gets the same gas mileage.
