The Good
The 2004 Nissan Titan offered robust performance with its strong V8 engine, appealing to those needing power for towing and hauling. Its bold design and comfortable interior provided an enjoyable driving experience. While not the most fuel-efficient, it presented a compelling value proposition as a capable and well-equipped truck at a competitive price. For practical buyers, there's dependability, and emotional buyers may like its bold styling.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2004 Nissan Titan include potential exhaust manifold cracking, rear axle seal leaks, and issues with the fuel sending unit. Rust can also be a concern, especially in areas with harsh winters. Suspension components and brake systems should also be inspected carefully for wear and tear. Early models are known for these possible pitfalls.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2004 Nissan Titan Have?
Recalls for the 2004 Titan included issues related to potential fuel leaks, brake light switch failures, and possible airbag malfunctions. Checking the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for specific recall information related to the VIN is crucial. Long-term reliability concerns revolve around the aforementioned issues, as well as potential transmission problems (slipping or harsh shifting) at higher mileages. Regular maintenance and addressing issues promptly can mitigate some of these concerns, but potential buyers should be aware of these potential pitfalls. Thorough pre-purchase inspections are highly recommended.
How long will the 2004 Nissan Titan last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included standard front airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and available side-impact airbags. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) wasn't initially available but became standard in later model years of the first generation. Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) should be consulted for specific scores, but generally, the Titan performed reasonably well in frontal crash tests. However, side-impact protection could be improved. The Utili-track bed system was an innovative feature for securing cargo. Overall, the 2004 Titan prioritized basic functionality and safety over advanced technology and driver aids.

How Does the 2004 Nissan Titan Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle Cab; Truck?
Alternatives to the 2004 Titan include the Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 1500, known for their reliability and wide range of configurations. The Ford F-150 is another solid choice, offering a comfortable ride and strong resale value. The Dodge Ram 1500 provided a comfortable interior and distinctive styling. Ultimately, the best alternative depends on individual priorities, with reliability, budget, and desired features being key considerations. If reliability is paramount, the GM twins might be a better choice. If price is a major concern, the Titan can be a good value, but be prepared for potential repairs.

Great truck all around.I have had this for around 2 years starting with 99,000 miles. Now has 117000 miles, its been a great truck. For being a truck that is almost 20 years old, the paint is faded in some spots and the dash where the speaker in the center was brittle and busted but, it was my fault it got busted. Anyways so far all the problems i have had since i have had it are that both the exhaust manifolds are leaking, which is very common on these trucks but, doesnβt effect it at all, runs just fine. It sprung a small oil leak from the oil cooler, easy fix. Had to replace both front hub bearings. And just before I bought it, the previous owner just replaced the radiator due to leak. So nothing major and has never left me stranded. Still has no rust. Everything works in it, the 19 year old Rockford Fasgate stereo system still sounds great. Sunroof still works, tv still works. I tell you everything works. Knock on wood for all of this, has been a very reliable truck. The 2 top things I would change in this truck if I could would be to give it more comfortable seats (not the most comfy but, not horrible either) and give it better gas mileage, low end I get about 12.5 mpg, high end 14.5 mpg. Not a gas saver by any means but, great truck all around. Pray it keeps being the reliable truck that it is.

422,000 miles and still rollingI bought this 2004 SE crew cab, 2-wheel drive, brand new, and it has been the best. 422,000 miles and still rolling, with original engine and transmission. It will probably outlive me. Relatively routine maintenance, brakes, fuel pumps, etc., but nothing major.

Nothing drives like a Titan. My father had an 06 Titan XE KC 2wd for several years, until it got totaled at 140k back in 2016.Between 09 and '16,the truck never gave him any mechanical issues.Just routine maintenance, and the occasional flat tire. Now here I am with an 04 Titan XE KC 2wd.I got it at 241k,while its not as pretty as my old mans 06 was right now it has definitely been a reliable truck. The 5.6 is very powerful and has alot of torque and starts right on the dime everytime. You have a very good view of the road,as well as comfty seats. The steering in this truck feels perfectly snug and not like a tentacle found in the domestics. And has a better turning radius than all the Frontiers I drove. This truck has alot of room for storage, more so with the middle bench seat and the extra storage compartment. I love driving these trucks, and hope to keep mine forever.Or maybe buy an extra one to have. For any of you considering getting into one,do it!Disregard the negative things your friends or peers think or say about the Titan.Titans are bad@ss,and get up and go quicker than Chevy's 5.3,and Ford 5.4 and have alot of space and leg room in the Crew Cab models.

Very powerful.Has plenty legroom. My kids love itTHIS TRUCK MEETS ALL MY NEEDS. IT HAS PLENTY OF LEGROOM IN THE BACK AS WELL THE FRONT ALOTS POWER. WHICH I LOVE.ALL ABOVE GOOD TRUCK. IM GLAD I DID NOT GO WITH THE FORD OR DODGE. BUT STILL NOT SURE ABOUT BEING BETTER THAN THE CHEVY, WHICH I WAS ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR CHEVY SILVERADO WHEN I FIND MY NISSAN TITAN. WHICH IM GLAD I FIND MY TITAN.BC OUT OF ALL THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF TRUCKS I HAVE HAD. THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL TRUCK OF ALL AND THE BEST IN HAULING A TRAILER WITH HEAVY EQUIPMENT ON IT.... BUT I CAN KEEP GOING ON AND ON ABOUT HOW MUCH BETTER THIS TRUCK IS TO HAVE BUT ILL HAVE TO COME BACK...Γ’β¬Β¦Γ’β¬Β¦...

Great truckI really like this truck and have considered keeping it but don't need 2 vehicles. This truck drives nice, has a great sound system, is good for moving heavy items.

More than I bargained for.Doesnt ride as good as my full size Chevy, but close. It has more power than Chevy did which waa surprising. I was a strict chevy man for years, but not unhappy for changing
