The 2010 Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck designed to compete with the established American brands. It was part of the Titan's first generation. Offered in King Cab and Crew Cab body styles, the 2010 Titan came in several trims, including XE, SE, LE (later SL), and Pro-4X. Its powerful V8 engine and comfortable interior made it a popular choice for buyers seeking a capable and refined truck. New pricing ranged from approximately $26,000 to $38,000.
The Good

The 2010 Nissan Titan boasted strong V8 performance and a comfortable ride, appealing to those needing power and enjoying a relaxed drive. Its bold design stood out. Practically, its towing capacity and spacious cabin made it a useful work truck. While not the most fuel-efficient, it offered competitive value for its capabilities.

Some owners have reported issues with exhaust manifolds cracking, rear axle seals leaking, and potential for rust, particularly in areas with road salt. Transmission issues have also surfaced. What Problems Does the 2010 Nissan Titan Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2010 Nissan Titan include exhaust manifold cracking, leading to engine noise and potential performance issues. Rear axle seal leaks are also relatively common, which can lead to differential damage if not addressed. Some owners have experienced issues with the transmission, including slipping or harsh shifting, particularly at higher mileages.

Rust can be a concern, especially in areas where road salt is used. Check the undercarriage, bed, and around the wheel wells for signs of corrosion.

Recalls for the 2010 Titan have addressed issues such as potential fuel leakage due to faulty fuel tank sending unit flanges. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN with Nissan to ensure all applicable recalls have been performed. Long-term reliability can be affected by these issues, so a thorough inspection and maintenance history review are recommended before purchasing a used 2010 Titan. Some owners report issues with the parking brake cable seizing. Early model year Titans (2004-2007) had more prevalent issues, but some carry over to the 2010 model.

How long will the 2010 Nissan Titan last?

A 2010 Nissan Titan, with proper maintenance, could potentially reach 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report good engine and transmission durability with consistent oil changes and fluid maintenance. However, long-term durability depends heavily on driving habits and preventative care. Weaknesses tend to emerge in areas like exhaust manifolds, rear axle seals, and potential rust in colder climates. Neglecting maintenance can significantly shorten the lifespan of the truck, while proactive care can extend it considerably. Expect 12-15 years of service with regular care.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2010 Nissan Titan offered a reasonable level of tech for its time. Standard features included a basic audio system with CD player and auxiliary input. Higher trims offered upgrades like a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, and satellite radio. Navigation was available as an optional feature.

Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles. It did not have advanced features like lane departure warning or automatic emergency braking. Safety features included standard front and side airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and electronic stability control.

Crash test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) varied. While specific ratings should be verified for the 2010 model year, generally the Titan performed adequately in frontal crash tests but may have shown some weaknesses in side-impact tests. Consult official safety ratings for precise scores. Optional features included parking sensors and a rearview camera (on higher trims), enhancing safety and convenience.

2010 Nissan Titan Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2010 Nissan Titan ranged from approximately $26,000 to $38,000, depending on the trim and options. As of today, used market prices typically range from $8,000 to $18,000, contingent on condition, mileage, and location. Depreciation has been significant, as expected for a full-size truck. Factors affecting resale value include overall condition, mileage, maintenance history, and whether it's a 2WD or 4WD model. Pro-4X models tend to hold their value better due to their off-road capabilities and desirability.

2010 Nissan Titan Cost of Ownership

The 2010 Nissan Titan is generally considered moderately costly to own. Insurance costs are typical for a full-size truck. Fuel economy is below average, contributing to higher running costs. Maintenance can be moderate if preventative care is followed, but repairs, especially related to exhaust manifolds or transmission issues, can be expensive. Long-term ownership costs are higher than more fuel-efficient and reliable vehicles in other segments. Budget accordingly for potential repairs and higher fuel consumption.

How Does the 2010 Nissan Titan Compare to Other Pickup Truck?

The 2010 Nissan Titan competed with the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tundra. Performance-wise, the Titan's V8 was competitive but slightly less refined than some rivals. Features were generally comparable, although the F-150 and Silverado/Sierra offered a wider range of configurations and options.

Reliability is where the Titan fell slightly behind. While not inherently unreliable, it had more reported issues than the Tundra and potentially the F-150 (depending on the specific engine). The Silverado/Sierra also had their share of problems. Price-wise, the Titan was often positioned competitively, sometimes offering better value than the F-150 or Tundra at similar trim levels.

Alternatives to consider would be the Toyota Tundra for its proven reliability or the Ford F-150 for its broader range of features and configurations. The Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra are also viable options but research specific model years for reliability concerns. If reliability is paramount, the Tundra is a better choice. If a wide range of features and configurations are desired, the F-150 is strong contender.

Final Verdict: Is the 2010 Nissan Titan a Good Pickup Truck?

The 2010 Nissan Titan is a decent full-size truck best suited for buyers needing V8 power and towing capability without the premium price tag of some competitors. It's worth buying *used* if found in good condition with a thorough inspection and maintenance records. The Pro-4X trim is desirable for off-road enthusiasts. However, potential buyers should be aware of potential reliability concerns like exhaust manifolds and rear axle seals. If reliability is a top priority, consider alternatives. Overall, a 2010 Titan can be a good value if purchased wisely, but research and inspection are essential.

Love this truck

This truck has met all of my needs and has plenty of room front and back seats both. The power really has surprised me. Just wish it had a long bed but for the value I'm very pleased.

Best Beast Out There

Early on I debated whether to get the Toyota Tundra or the Nissan Titan. But the price difference led me to buy the Titan new in March 2010, and have really loved it ever since. It's strong enough to haul all the toys (uphill too without the engine revving) to include an ATV and trailer, boat or camper, yet still comfortable enough to take the family to church. I've had three issues with it. One, the original Goodyear tires lasted me only 37K miles. Two, the console that holds the sun glasses and blue tooth came off about 3 years in, just out of warranty. The dealership wanted over $400 to replace it so I just purchased a $3 bottle of Gorilla glue and repaired it myself. And three, the cheap plastic throughout and even on some of the outside door settings started to fade early on and now look gray rather than black. As for service, and thanks to Youtube videos out there, I'm been able to easily change ALL the fluids. In coming to Arizona since, I've seen several Titans where the clear coat is showing, but my paint job still looks brand new. I guess that may be a concern for the folks here, and if they always parked it outside in the sun. The only thing I would have liked to have when I got it would have been a back up camera. It does come with sonar, but both would have been nice. So, I bought one myself and will be putting it on later this week. Gas mileage has never been that outstanding. I average around 14 mpg. On two trips, one where the speed limit was only 55, I actually did in fact average about 21 mpg. Moving from Tennessee to Arizona she got about 18 mpg. Pulling anything, and I get about 11-13.

Beast

As others have said, this truck is a beast! Love the engine and the turning ratio for a truck. Engine just growls at you. Gas mileage slight worse than an F150 overall. Much better performance than all of my previous F150 trucks. I am sold on Titans!

Best truck on the market still

This truck is the best on the market I test drove them all used 2008 to 2010 ford chevy dodge and toyota. I got a whole lot of truck for $24,000 with 20,000 miles I couldn't have gotten close with the other brands and this truck is just as strong as the other brands top of the line which are sell for $50,000 new and 35,000 at comparable year/mileage. If yopu buy this truck you have no remorse. Big pimping cowboy style

Great Truck, so so dealer

Sounds like a truck (a good thing) and runs like a truck. It's everything one could want in a truck. Just wish the dealer had been more up front in the posting information about this truck. I would have bought it anyway, because it's a great truck
