The Good
The 2017 BMW M2 boasts exceptional performance, offering thrilling acceleration and handling that appeals to enthusiasts. While not the most luxurious, it provides a comfortable driving experience for daily use. Its iconic design is both aggressive and refined. Though not the most fuel-efficient, its strong resale value makes it a relatively good value for its performance class.
The Bad
The 2017 BMW M2's weaknesses include limited rear passenger space and a somewhat firm ride, which may not be ideal for everyone. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system. Also, watch out for potential wear and tear on performance-oriented components like brakes and tires, especially if the car has been tracked.

What Problems Does the 2017 BMW M2 Have?
There have been recalls on certain 2017 M2 models, so it's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recall notices. Common areas of concern, especially with higher mileage examples, include the suspension components (due to the car's sporty nature), brake wear, and potential issues with the differential.
Long-term reliability can be influenced by maintenance habits. Regular oil changes, brake servicing, and adherence to BMW's recommended maintenance schedule are vital for preserving the car's mechanical health. The N55 engine, while potent, benefits from careful monitoring of its oil levels and temperatures. The automatic transmission, if equipped, should have its fluid changed at recommended intervals to avoid potential issues. Overall, proper care and preventative maintenance are key to maximizing the lifespan and reliability of the 2017 M2.
How long will the 2017 BMW M2 last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features include multiple airbags, stability control, traction control, and Cornering Brake Control. Optional features included the Executive Package, which added features like a heated steering wheel, rear parking distance control, automatic high beams, and speed limit information.
While specific crash-test ratings for the 2017 M2 from organizations like NHTSA and IIHS may vary, the 2 Series, which the M2 is based on, generally performs well in safety tests. The M2 benefits from BMW's robust safety engineering and a strong chassis, contributing to occupant protection in the event of a collision. Keep in mind the availability of advanced driver-assistance systems is limited compared to modern vehicles.

How Does the 2017 BMW M2 Compare to Other Vehicle?
Regarding features, the M2's infotainment and interior are decent but not class-leading. The Audi rivals often boast more modern tech. Reliability is generally good, but the Porsche Cayman tends to be more reliable long-term, albeit with higher maintenance costs. Price-wise, the M2 sits in the middle of the pack.
Alternatives to consider include a used Porsche Cayman if handling and reliability are paramount, or a newer BMW M240i for a more modern and comfortable experience with similar performance at potentially a lower price. A Ford Mustang GT offers significantly more power for the money but sacrifices some refinement and handling prowess.

I got my 2017 bmw m2 around 6 months ago.I got my 2017 bmw m2 around 6 months ago. I sprung for the automatic for a faster 0-60 time plus Apple CarPlay and the executive package. I can whole heartedly tell you that this car feels and sounds amazing. It is faster than 90% of cars on the road with a 4.1 second 0-60 (automatic), and sounds amazing. Additionally the exterior is beautiful and has a timeless design. I would even say it looks better than the new M2βs available on the market. The car also handles beautifully and is perfect for a canyon road. Although some do not like the interior i personally do. Mine has a carbon fiber trim, along with m badged leather seats. It does not have bucket seats however. The interior is minimalist and timeless in my opinion. Not to much clutter and all the modern technology a car these days needs. Lastly the car has launch control for any potential racing you want to do.

Best new BMW available in the rangeThis is the car that will put a smile on your face every time you drive it. Its not the fastest nor the most powerful BMW, but as a complete package, there isn't much available in the market. Future classic.

Most fun I driving to workThis is an amazing car to experience. It has an aggressive look and sound yet it emits an aura of refined sophistication. Once you set off in sport + you will never look back.

Best M Motorsports car since the E30!The F87 M2 is the ultimate driverβs car. Perfectly weighted, great power, wonderful feel through the steering wheel and pedals. Could use a little more rubber to put the power down, but a little oversteer is always welcomed.
McarFanatic37 on April 10, 2019
A fantastic and by far the most fun M car to driv. The car is no short of amazing. I had the cheaper M235i and this is clearly a much much better and more fun car. No comparison really.

An absolute drivers carSimply one of the best driving experiences I've ever owned. It handles as well as a Porsche Cayman, with more horsepower at a much better price. This car is designed for track driving so it handles very precisely, with great steering feel and oodles of power available. The ride can be a little hard on a rough road, but I've driven from New Jersey to Boston without a problem and I've even done Boston to Limestone, ME so it's very driveable on the highway (just keep an eye on your speed). The lane departure warning is helpful at times, as is the front collision warning Γ’β¬β each can be turned off with a simple press of a button. The 6 cylinder engines sounds fantastic and the Harmon Kardon entertainment is great too. Not much room in the rear but you can still put 2 adults back there. And boy, do people love this car. I can so many compliments on it wherever I go.

The car is as fun as they say. This car has been very reliable, a lot of fun to drive. 6 Speed manual gearbox, the executive package, apple car play, and BMW's MPerformance 3 way adjustable coil over suspension. I added the extra year of BMW maintenance.

So much funattractive styling, excellent fit and finish and so much fun to drive . Plenty of power to get you in lots of trouble? Trying my best not to get any tickets π

BMW M2I live the smaller bmws. I have owned a 128, 135, 235, and now the M2. They are fast, super reliable, and are reasonable to maintain. I will keep buying the smaller bmws.

Baby Beast is a Pocket Rocket!I bought this car to replace my current pocket rocket and am delighted! It's aggressive styling, spartan interior, 6-speed manual, and the driving experience to match. The engine has low end torque and the exhaust note is suitably snarly. Comfort mode is quite civil and sport + is boisterously angry. The color is Long Beach Blue Metallic which is nice but I'd like to have had more color options. Thus far it's a 5 star hit!
