The Good
The 2019 WRX offers exciting performance with its turbocharged engine and AWD, appealing to enthusiasts. For practical buyers, it boasts decent reliability and all-weather capability. While not luxurious, it provides acceptable comfort and a distinctive design. It's a relatively good value for the performance offered, balancing fun with everyday usability.
The Bad
The 2019 WRX's weaknesses include a somewhat stiff ride, especially on rough roads. Fuel economy is not its strong suit, and the interior can feel dated compared to rivals. Some owners have reported oil consumption issues. The infotainment system can also be less intuitive than others. Be mindful of potential modifications that could affect reliability.

What Problems Does the 2019 Subaru WRX Have?
The CVT transmission, available on the WRX, has had reports of issues, although mostly related to earlier model years. Manual transmissions are generally considered more reliable, but clutch wear is a factor depending on driving habits. Check for any recalls related to the 2019 model year on the NHTSA website. Suspension components can wear out over time, especially if the car is driven hard or on rough roads. Owners should also be aware of potential issues with the turbocharger and intercooler, particularly if the vehicle has been modified.
Long-term reliability concerns revolve around maintaining the engine and drivetrain. Regular oil changes with high-quality synthetic oil are crucial. Proper maintenance, including spark plug replacement and timing belt service (if applicable), is essential for preventing major problems. Avoid excessive idling and short trips, which can exacerbate carbon buildup. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations, which could indicate underlying issues.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are limited on the base WRX. Higher trims (Limited) offer blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and LED headlights. Subaru's EyeSight driver-assistance system, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic pre-collision braking, is *not* available on manual transmission WRX models. However, it *is* available on the WRX with the CVT transmission.
Safety features include a rearview camera and multiple airbags. The 2019 WRX received good crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) also provided safety ratings, typically around 5 stars overall, but it is recommended to check their official website for the specific rating for the 2019 model year.
Optional features include navigation, upgraded audio, and performance enhancements. The lack of advanced driver-assistance features on manual models is a notable omission compared to some competitors. The infotainment system, while functional, can feel somewhat dated compared to more modern systems.

How Does the 2019 Subaru WRX Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of features, the WRX's infotainment and driver-assistance tech are somewhat dated compared to the GTI/Golf R and newer Civic models. Reliability can be a concern, particularly with oil consumption, while the Honda and VW alternatives generally have better reliability records, although newer VWs can have their own gremlins. Price-wise, the WRX falls in the middle, offering more performance than the Si but less refinement than the GTI/Golf R.
Alternatives to consider include the Volkswagen GTI for a more refined and comfortable experience with good performance, or the Honda Civic Si for a more affordable and efficient sporty car. The Golf R offers similar AWD performance but with a more premium feel. The Hyundai Elantra N provides similar performance levels with a more modern interior. If AWD is a must-have, the WRX remains a strong contender.

Final Verdict: Is the 2019 Subaru WRX a Good Sedan?

If you really want to know how I feel about a WRXFirst off if you are in to have that race car feel the +2015 Subaru WRX is a great car , mine being the 2019 . When it comes to comfort the car is not the greatest it’s mid size interior but with my after market bucket seats it made it feel better for hard turns or even around corners to hold me in place but for this it feels more as if you know your cars limits . The interior is ok again if you are someone that likes a plain and simple interior with out all the buttons then this car is for you as I like not having all that . So the interior is ok to my liking but I wish the vibrating in the trunk from my speaker system makes it make a noise and I wish they gave the option of carpet colors or dark black as it fades lighter . Preformance wise it was eh ok . The Recaros seats were comfortable and held you in some kind of aggressive driving around in mountains but the base seats are not great, you feel all the quality in ride suck but with upgraded suspension and tweaks it not feels as if I can feel the tires stick and grip really well and the motor closed deck block and upgraded turbo and exhaust system and more . You just got to love the car to be at this point but it will cost you . But reliably , yea it’s pretty good . I’ve Owen mine for going on about 6 years and it’s been great Owning it and having the experience of bonding . I’d recommend if you want a sportier race car feel for a Dailey

Great daily driver with some power to back it upCar is great in Pennsylvania winter, it has a great exterior styling but the interior feels cheaper. I’m not upset with this as it’s a sub 30,000 car and I see the trade off with the legacy for the price is the engine being ~100 horsepower more to the crank while the legacy with less power has a much nicer interior. Also VERY happy this car comes in a Manual and will continue to buy them so long as this stays.

WRX: affordable performance carGreat handling, quick acceleration, fun to drive. Not great on gas in the city, but pretty good on the highway. Had the short-throw shifter installed, which was a great decision for city driving. I would but it again, but my next car will be an automatic (city commute), probably a 2020 Crosstrek.

Fun car for the priceIt has ok space, and good mid-range power. Top end power is poor. It looks good in person, but it is not a photogenic car. Long term maintenance and gas mileage is very poor.

One of the best cars I’ve ownedI love my WRX although I do think they need to work on some of the rattle problems in the interior and maybe the sound of the motor while idling. Aside from that its my favorite car I’ve owned to date and I’ve owned quite a few.

I love itThe color red makes this car, the responsive clutch/engine made me reach my expectations. Apple car play makes driving in Boston like it’s a small town.

If you like driving, this is an awesome carThis is a performance vehicle, not suited for the faint of heart. FAST, and tight. The only reason I didn;'t buy it was cause it was too much car for my wife to drive. I can only imagine how much fun this car would be to drive in the snow.
