The Good
The 2017 WRX boasts exhilarating turbocharged performance and Subaru's legendary all-wheel drive, appealing to driving enthusiasts. It offers decent reliability and practicality for daily use. Its aggressive styling and sporty interior also contribute to its appeal. Though not the most fuel-efficient, it offers good value considering its performance capabilities. Some buyers may find the ride less comfortable.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2017 WRX include a firm ride that some may find uncomfortable. The interior quality, while improved, still lags behind some competitors. Fuel economy isn't a strong point. Watch for potential oil consumption issues and be wary of heavily modified examples, as these can indicate past abuse or neglect. The infotainment system can also feel dated.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features, depending on the trim, include blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist. Adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking were *not* available on the manual transmission WRX or STI in 2017. These features were available on WRX models equipped with the CVT transmission as part of the EyeSight system.
Safety features include standard stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, and a suite of airbags.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) are generally good for the 2017 WRX. It earned a "Top Safety Pick" award when equipped with EyeSight, due to its superior front crash prevention system. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gave the 2017 WRX an overall safety rating of five stars.

How Does the 2017 Subaru WRX Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of price, the WRX is generally competitively priced. Alternatives include the Honda Civic Type R (more expensive but higher performance), Volkswagen Golf R (more refined and sophisticated all-wheel drive), or a used BMW 3 Series (offering a more luxurious experience but potentially higher running costs). For someone prioritizing all-wheel-drive performance, the WRX is a strong contender. For a more comfortable and refined daily driver, the GTI or a used Acura TLX might be better choices.

Final Verdict: Is the 2017 Subaru WRX a Good Sedan?

The most exhilarating compact sedan you will driveThe Subaru WRX lost its signature subie rumble when it was redesigned with the all new FA20DIT engine. However, don't let that deter you from this Subaru WRX because what it lacks for in noise it more than makes up for in the performance department. The instant turbo spool and glorious turbo noises that come from under the hood can be only described as HEAVEN. The car offers more performance than what can legally be had on the streets and that is ok with me. The perfect car that doubles as a family sedan.

Smooth rideThis car meet all my needs. 4 doors, manual transmission, smooth ride, reliable, quick, comfortable and much more. The heated seats and moon roof were a great extra.

Solid Driver's CarMy 2017 WRX does a good balancing act as a fun, sporty driver's car and a family hauler. Perhaps the quality is just shy of a Honda, but I'm quite satisfied with it!

Pocket RocketInterior quality can be improved. Rattles and shakes from day one. It common across most Subaru cars, but it's high time the company improve on that.

Car had numerous problems since I got it.Replaced the battery after the first year, throwout bearing replaced on second year, oil leak after 4th maintenance visit. By end of 2nd year, 33000 miles. The car engine trembled with engine lights on during my drive. Took two months for tech to figure out the issue and currently on the fourth month trying to get a replacement vehicle. Car is fun to drive but not reliable at all.

Fun to driveOwned a 2006 Subaru wrx before upgrade to a 2017 wrx I donβt regret it yet, more roomy and quiet, better gas mileage ,nice a/c . Only one key fob though, thatβs my only complaint so far.

Transmission issuesI wanted a fun daily driver so I purchased the WRX as it is AWD. The car had a transmission issue where first gear would pop out. Tried to get it fixed at a dealer nearby, they claimed they "fixed" it by replacing things, but the problem persisted. Bring it back again, and now they claim it is my fault. It was a decent car, but the headaches that came with it were not worth it. I have lost faith in Subaru.

Best valued car on the marketIβve owned the car for a year and have had 0 issues with it. The car has treated me to nice power without sacrificing any reliability.
