The Good
The 2022 WRX boasts thrilling turbocharged performance and standard all-wheel drive, appealing to driving enthusiasts. It offers decent value for its performance, a relatively comfortable ride, and a distinctive, aggressive design. While not the most efficient, its practicality as a daily driver is a plus. Solid Subaru reliability adds to its appeal.
The Bad
The 2022 WRX has some weaknesses. Its fuel economy is not the best. The infotainment system can feel dated compared to rivals. Some may find the styling controversial, and interior materials could be better for the price. Also, watch out for potential issues related to the direct injection engine, which can sometimes have carbon build-up over time.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2022 Subaru WRX Have?
- Infotainment System Glitches: Some owners have reported issues with the 11.6-inch infotainment system, including freezing, slow response times, and connectivity problems.
- CVT Transmission Concerns: Although the CVT is improved, some enthusiasts still prefer the manual transmission. Long-term reliability of the CVT is something to monitor.
- Engine Management: Similar to other direct-injection turbocharged engines, carbon buildup on the intake valves is a potential long-term concern, potentially leading to reduced performance and fuel economy. Regular maintenance, such as walnut blasting, might be necessary to mitigate this issue.
- Paint Quality: Some owners have noted that Subaru paint can be prone to chipping and scratching, which requires extra care to maintain.
- Recalls: Always check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any active recalls related to the 2022 WRX. While no major recalls have been widely reported, it's essential to stay updated.

- Optional Features: Optional features vary by trim but can include a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, and performance-oriented Recaro seats (GT trim).

It's a great car. It's a great car. Sports car with 4 doors, very maneuverable despite of the AWD. Fun in the mountains and the kids love it. Get the manual drive.

2023 WRX 6 spd - Excellent!!!Just bought a 2023 WRX base 6 speed manual. Excellent car and best fun you could have at around $30k. Pros: good power, good handling, good price, fast and fun to drive, stiff suspension, sporty exhaust. Cons: black side moldings and the huge rear black bumper, speakers suck, brakes are weak (installed performance pads, problem solved)

Cars are expensive, wanted to share knowledgeUsed as a daily work commuter, fun little car to drive with the turbo but that was about it. Ride was rough for a supposed rally style car being driven on pavement. Did not feel any real relief in the shocks - were they installed? Infotainment system will be main factor for trading vehicle later this year. Its garbage. Hard to function while driving, slow to respond, more bugs than the F35. Horrible with Android devices. Does not support Android Wireless despite being 2022 (have to be plugged into usb). Radio buttons functionality is clearly an overseas programmer, hard dials would seem futuristic to using this everyday (Scan, Seek, programmed). Interior cabin Temperature sensor seems misplaced, maybe in the windshield. Never seems to know the actual temperature in the cabin. They also are not lying when they say it has the bells and whistles, this car will yell at you for breathing wrong. There is always something beeping. Don't start the car without a seatbelt! You cannot shut it off either using old school tricks, you must now remove dashboard, good luck! Interior Layout has no room or consideration for cellphone and minimum room for anything else you may be carrying in your pockets. Trip reset controls is next to the engine start button??? *smiling* wait till you hit that by mistake reaching for the trip button leaving a gas station.

Fantastic Fun CarOne of the best fun cars to drive daily and enjoy on the track if desired. After testing many manual transmission cars on the market in this segment including the Elantra N, Acura Integra, Jetta GLI, Honda Type R and others I decided to go with the new WRX and I am very happy with the purchase. This is my first WRX after driving an Audi S4, BMW 335XI, Mustang ECO Boost and other sports cars in the past and I found the WRX to be just as fun to drive on daily bases and driving the family around. The new body looks nice ( much better than the previous generation in my opinion) and aggressive even though some have complained about the cladding but in person it looks good. I personally liked the way they make the car sportier and not just any boring sedan. Mine came with the upgraded STI exhaust which is a nice performance feature and love the sound of it. I have the limited addition that comes with many features. The interior looks very sporty and now I really enjoy the nice size screen after I got used to all the operations. The WRX AWD system is one of the best, allowing the car to handle the curves and turns in a superior way. My weekend car is a BMW M4 but I am enjoying the WRX just as much. It's for sure a long time enjoyment with a great value. If you are in the market for a fun, reliable sports sedan don't hesitate as you will be happy with the WRX.

Subaru WRX, an excellent, practical, and fun carI've a new 2022 WRX for about 500 miles so far. The car is fantastic. Its a car you WANT to drive. I've a new appreciation for Subaru (this is my first Subaru), as the design is straightforward, simple and practical. This is a decent, performance four door sedan. The performance is quite nice. Torque is handed out quickly at relatively low RPMs, which is nice in a turbocharged car. I bought this car with a manual transmission, and the shifter is good, a nice toogle going from gear to gear. Especially appreciated is a nice, small feature; when stopped on a hill, the car engages the brakes for a fraction of time when you shift into first from a dead stop, preventing rollback and making the shift even easier. This car is FUN to drive. It is wonderful to have a car that when you walk by, you think "I'd like to drive my car now"...even if you have no particular errand to run or place to go. If you want a fun ride, you really need to test drive a WRX. It handles VERY well, and takes turns/darts through traffic with ease. The ride is firm, which figures into its sports car heritage, and low profile tires. Which is fine with me, I prefer it that way. It is a sports car ride. For a sports car, it is very practical, with a very reasonable amount of room in the back seat passenger area. The large 11" screen to control most car functions is prominent, to some extend customizable, and very straightforward. My only complaint is there seems to be a half second lag when using some touchscreen controls. The integration with Android Auto was quite nice, as well as to bluetooth. I LIKE the plastic around the wheel wells...it protects against road debris. If you plan to keep the car for the long haul, I count it as a plus. I actually like the exterior styling, especially on a white car, as its a nice black/white trim contrast. The trunk is a good size for a car of this size. I did get the trunk protection package, which includes plastic panels to protect the back of the rear seat...worth getting. I deliberately bought this car as a long term purchase, one step above the base model, the "Limited" version. I wanted a car without TOO many cameras, sensors, and electronics (the higher trim levels with the CVT transmission have more), to have a less complex car. This car is also an excellent value in the low to mid 30's. I can't really speak to long term reliability YET, as the car only has 500 miles on it at present. However, I can see the engine layout (boxer engine) is straightforward, and seems easy to work on. Also a plus, there is a ton of internet resources on Subaru boxer engines in general. For the time I've owned it, its been working perfectly, I've not had to go back to the dealer for any issues at all.

Eh to say the leastUsed to own one for about a year. Overall the VB WRX was great at performance, but that was about it. Ride felt like you're already on coilover, bouncy. Interior wasn't great as the driver seat was already ripping and the infotainment was pretty garbage. Why integrate the hvac system into the screen? Loved the body cladding, but why is it so expensive to replace when it has no paint? Doesn't come with all season tires for some reason. No clue why.

First Time WRX OwnerLove this Subaru! This is my 6th Subaru and first WRX. The car absolutely flies, not sure what happens at 3500 miles but the Turbo comes into a life of its own. So much power in 3 and 4th gear it is incredible. If you are in the market for a sports sedan test drive the WRX!
