The Good
The 2023 WRX boasts strong turbocharged performance and standard all-wheel drive for confident handling in all weather. It offers a thrilling driving experience appealing to enthusiasts. While not luxurious, it provides reasonable comfort for daily driving. Value-wise, it offers a lot of performance for the price. Reliability is generally good, though specific issues exist (see below).
The Bad
The 2023 WRX's weaknesses include a somewhat stiff ride, especially on rough roads. Fuel economy is not a strong point, particularly when driven aggressively. Some find the interior materials and design to be underwhelming compared to rivals. The infotainment system can also be slow and clunky. Potential buyers should also research reports of oil consumption issues on some models.

What Problems Does the 2023 Subaru WRX Have?
Recalls for the 2023 WRX have been relatively limited, but it's crucial to check the NHTSA website for the most up-to-date information. Long-term reliability concerns primarily revolve around the potential for oil consumption and the durability of the CVT transmission under demanding conditions. Regular maintenance, including timely oil changes and proper servicing of the CVT, can help mitigate these risks. Potential buyers should thoroughly inspect the vehicle's maintenance history and consider a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance and safety features vary by trim. Standard features include Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology (on CVT-equipped models), which includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and pre-collision braking. Higher trims add blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) are generally good, though results may vary depending on the specific model year and testing criteria. It's recommended to check the latest ratings for the 2023 model year on their respective websites. Optional features include a navigation system and various performance-enhancing upgrades.

2023 Subaru WRX Prices and Market Value
Depreciation is moderate for the WRX, holding its value reasonably well due to its popularity and performance credentials. Factors affecting resale value include maintenance history, mileage, condition, and any modifications. Models with a clean title and documented maintenance history typically command higher prices. The TR trim tends to hold its value particularly well due to its focus on performance.

How Does the 2023 Subaru WRX Compare to Other Sedan?
Feature-wise, the WRX's infotainment system lags behind some competitors. Reliability is generally good, but the WRX's potential oil consumption issues are a concern. The GTI/Golf R offer a more refined interior and driving experience, while the Civic Si provides a more affordable and fuel-efficient alternative.
The Elantra N is a strong alternative, offering similar performance and features at a competitive price. The Golf R provides a more premium experience with sharper handling, but at a higher price point. The GR Corolla is a more focused performance machine but is more expensive and less practical. Ultimately, the best alternative depends on individual priorities.

Final Verdict: Is the 2023 Subaru WRX a Good Sedan?
Whether to buy new or used depends on budget and availability. A used WRX can offer good value, but a thorough inspection for signs of abuse or modifications is essential. The Premium or Limited trims strike a good balance between features and price. Consider the GT trim only if you specifically want the electronically controlled dampers and CVT. For the most engaged drivers, the TR trim presents a compelling performance-focused package.

As advertised - a fun car to driveAbout 1300 miles into a new 2023 WRX Premium. Car is a blast to drive and mine also has the Harmon Kardon sound system upgrade (very nice audio). Not as creature comfortable as my past BMWs but definitely comfortable. Premium only came with cloth seats so added seat covers. MT is the only way to go! An honest fun to drive car at a reasonable price.

Canβt beat itI love everything about this car, my only issue so far is my butt hurts with these sports seats after a solid hour of driving. Not the most padded seat mixed with the WRX stiff suspension lets you really feel the texture of the road. Everything else is 10/10.
