How Does the 2014 Chevrolet Spark Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle 4-Window; Hatchback?
Price-wise, the Spark is competitive, often undercutting the Fiat 500 but similar to the Mirage and Versa Note. For buyers prioritizing rear passenger space, the Nissan Versa Note is a better alternative. For those wanting a slightly more engaging driving experience, the Fiat 500 is worth considering, although it may be more expensive to maintain. If reliability is a top concern, researching common issues with each model is recommended. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities and budget.

I love my carMy son gave me my car 2014 Chevy spark 2 years ago he bought it brand new. One day when I went to get out of car the doors locked and unlocked by their self. It took me about 10 to 15 times to try and get out of the car. Then the touch screen on the radio stopped working had it checked out and said they needed to replace the radio for price of 600.00 dollars no way. Then a couple months ago was driving on interstate and all of a sudden my car cut off and check engine light came on. Had to have it towed in and now with 87.000 miles on it transmission needs to be replaced.

mixed feelingsI've never felt so conflicted about a car. I bought mine used, second owner, around 75k miles, and it needed a new transmission the literal moment I drove it off the lot. But on the other hand, I found the design/color cute (VERY easy to spot in a crowded parking lot), a breeze to park, and I was doing metaphorical donuts around the giant trucks when gas prices were skyrocketing last year. For being the (former) cheapest new car you could buy in the US, the *look* of the Spark never felt cheap to me. As mentioned earlier, the transmission crying for help the moment I drove it home was an omen. It usually did fine for short errands, but any time I wanted to take it on the freeway, it was white knuckle. This engine is WEAK. Good luck trying to get up to speed to merge onto freeways. And I had to consider weight distribution if I dared to have passengers with me. This car forced me to make compromises on most trips, and reconsider journeys that required freeway travel. If plopping a more powerful engine in this thing was a realistic/reasonable option, I think I would've considered that instead of trading it in for a more reliable car. That said, I was sad to say goodbye to it. I mourn the slow death of compact cars in the US, as the options have become slim in recent years. Not everyone needs or wants a giant truck or SUV! I think a Spark (maybe a newer model?) would be great for a teenager's first car car, or for an older person, or even as a secondary errand/commuter car. But I don't recommend buying it as your only mode of transportation, *especially* if you know you'll have to use freeways to travel.

I love the seating.it is just what i need for the traveling i do. I only need it for short trips to work. The gas mileage is great and I have had no problem. with it.

Fun Little CarI was surprised that I really like this car. I thought it was too small. But the back hatch storage was enough for my needs. The seats are much more comfortable than my little Vibe. I like driving right pass the gas stations too. I get great mileage. It is my favorite car to take to busy events, where parking may be an issue. It gets into tight spots easily. This is a commuter care so very good on city streets. When I'm on the highway, I keep looking for another gear. But It does drive the speed limit, so I am satisfied. This is a fun little car. I have had no mechanical issues.

2014 Chevrolet SparkI've had several issues with this vehicle. Within the first 3 months this car stalked when I was at an intersection and was hot during the summer. Then, within a year, had minor repair for temporarily thermostat and sensor. Within the next 6 months car started to overheat cuz the fan went out, also minor repair. After that, the next year (I've had my car for about a year) 3 gear shift cylinder in transmission went bad. I had to rebuild the transmission, so I could have a car that runs to work. Now, I'm having another transmission problem. It's been about a year since I had it fixed. Even though I have a warranty on the transmission being fixed, this car has just been ridiculous to have to fix it this often. I had to have it towed after driving it off the transmission lot and transmission place doesnt want to help much either.I wouldn't recommend getting any Chevy Spark since others have also had slow accelerating at intersections which could cause a wreck and car misfiring and/or jerking. Check engine light also turns on one minute and off the next time it is driven. This vehicle should be off the road as it not safe. I have 2 boys as well, and I'd never put my boys at risk. The cost to fix is more than the car is worth.

Amazingly fun econobox!avoid the automatic tranny and get the 5-speed stick! Fun, safe (better than the same year Honda Fit). I have 137K miles on mine with no major issues! I installed a coil-over suspension designed for this car and it handles better than my Mini Cooper. Not fast, but plenty fun with the manual tranny if you keep the revs up. 52mpg on the highway!! Hills are no problem!!!

Worst used car for the price! The vehicle type is nice in general. Easy on gas and maneuverability. But the one I have bought is a death trap unfortunately. I won’t even allow my kids to ride in it.

I love the Spark and the black trimming need improThe Spark sit high and there lots of room for me and I let the seats down slides large items in like a table or chair in so don't let the Spark fool you.

At 30,000 miles the transmission is going, etc.Cheap for a reason. There were 2 types of transmissions put in this model. Apparently, I got the one they knew was bad. I also have a cracked serpentine belt ($178), bad battery ($218), tire replacement ($753), and the paint on the back part of the car is completely faded, like a 20 yr old car, even though the paint on the rest of the car is perfect. And, just to make things worse, the car has so little power that you can't drive uphill. You'll be straining to go 20 mph while people honk and drive around you. Nightmare.

Good car for its priceIt is a small, inexpensive car that is comfy to drive in and has adequate room for every day use. Small gas tank, but great has mileage keeps things low cost and efficient.
