2011 Jeep Liberty Review: Unreliable Used SUV With Expensive Ownership Costs

This Jeep is undoubtedly the best of the cars that my fiance and I have owned. In the two short years since we bought it, we've taken it to southern Florida and back three times without any trouble. It's been reliable and for me, pretty comfortable. Love our Jeep!

This vehicle met all my needs and has lots of space. I have dogs that ride in my car and it's easy to clean and has a comfortable amount of space for them. All wheel drive is also super great to get around in the winter and I love it. Best car ever.

I have the Limited model 4X2 which is otherwise loaded with options and bought from my brother who's daughter had since new and currently has 119,000 miles. After detailing the vehicle which didn't take as much time as I normally would on a 8 year old car to bring it to my cosmetic standards, I realized that this vehicle's exterior paint quality is impressive for being Black in color as well as other styling components being well made. I admired the vehicle after I put 8 solid hours into it and said to myself “What a kick “Butt” looking Jeep” - I have the Limited model (loaded otherwise) and bought from my brother who's daughter had since new, currently has 119,000 miles. After detailing the vehicle which didn't take as much time as I normally would on a 8 year old car to bring it to my cosmetic standards, I realized that this vehicle's exterior paint quality is impressive for being Black in color. Yes you need to push the gas pedal a bit more just to get it moving from a stand still in a parking lot as an example, but come on, it's 5,000 pounds and all muscle. Fuel mileage is HORRIBLE and worse then my 2015 E Class Mercedes V6 which shocked me. When I first took it out on the road, I could immediately feel the the solid all around quality of the suspension. I really like the thick leather wrapped steering wheel. The “Infinity” entertainment system along with the Touch Screen is an all around great system and very responsive with no lag when using the touch screen. The sound quality is incredible and the factory Sub Wofer mounted in the rear gives you the sense of being in a dance club. I do my own general maintenance and this Jeep is real easy to work on. I've read that the Transmission can go out around 100,000 miles but my brother has done regular service 2X previously and I just did it when I took possession at 119,000 miles. The leather seats are poor quality but I use Maguire's products to keep the seat surfaces from abnormal cracking and so far they are holding up. The dash has a small screen to scroll through different parts of the vehicle's status like tire pressure on all wheels, etc.. The designers/engineers spent a lot of time on building a solid vehicle. It's not a Toyota and you have to expect a higher repair rate, but if you keep on top of important general & regular maintenance, you will have a higher rate of reliability. I absolutely love this vehicle it is everything I want and need in a car. It's reliable and good on gas. It's perfect for me to get back and forth to work and school.

My wife picked out this car and got it before we got married but it is a Limited Jet Liberty and it was $30,000. This car is a trash heap. I can't believe the people at Jeep gave this car the greenlight for production. It is loud, horridly slow, cramped, has poor quality materials, and it is just an all around bad car. It now has 120,000 miles and it hasn't been horribly unreliable but it has already had a new transmission and a new radio which is pitiful. The front seats have absolutely no foot room and ours is a 2 wheel drive model so its not like there's a transfer case under the floor taking up space. The ride is atrocious, I have a 1993 Hummer H1 and it rides better than this hunk of junk. The engine absolutely HATES to rev. It sounds like its about to explode even at 3k rpm. Another weird thing is how much throttle it takes to get the thing to start moving. Most cars start to "creep" when you let off the brake but this Liberty requires some pedal to move at all. Oh, The driver seat also had to be re-upholstered already and my wife is a small person so that should not have been necessary. I drive a 2004 Lexus GX and it has 168,000 miles on it and it is in MUCH better condition than this 2011 Liberty that has not been driven hard at all. Save your money and buy something else, they really are that bad.

Too much chrome on the dash and doors! little short on driver leg room. A good looking car. Finish excellent Steering a little stiff, had to get used to it!

I've only had the vehicle for about a week, but I am pleasantly surprised by all aspects of it so far. I'm looking forward to using the 4wd during the upcoming winter. One has to wonder, why was this model discontinued?

Awesome it's a Jeep can move my trailer plow snow great 4x4 to get through snow 35 min commute to work and 35 min to home.

The Jeep was exactly what I was looking for.I wanted another Jeep that was safe & going to last. I love Jeeps & wont go back to cars. I looked everywhere for 1 that fit what I wanted. This 1 was perfect.
