The Good
The 2016 Lancer offered a sporty design and available all-wheel drive, appealing to emotional buyers. Practically, it provided decent reliability, a comfortable ride for its class, and good value for money, especially on the used market. Fuel efficiency was average, and performance varied depending on the engine choice.
The Bad
The 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer's weaknesses included its outdated interior design, limited rear seat space, and a less refined engine compared to some competitors. Watch out for potential rust issues, especially in regions with harsh winters. The base engine could feel underpowered, and the CVT transmission's performance was not always well-received.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Have?
Recalls for the 2016 Lancer have included issues related to the airbag inflators, which are part of the larger Takata airbag recall affecting numerous manufacturers. Check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website to verify if the specific vehicle has any outstanding recalls.
Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the durability of the CVT transmission and the potential for rust. While the engine itself is generally reliable, regular maintenance is crucial. Some owners have also reported issues with the air conditioning system over time. Before purchasing a used 2016 Lancer, a thorough inspection by a qualified mechanic is recommended to identify any potential problems.
How long will the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features were limited, with a rearview camera available on the SE and GT trims. Safety features included standard antilock brakes, stability control, and a suite of airbags. Optional features included fog lights and a rear spoiler on higher trims.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) varied, but generally, the Lancer performed reasonably well in most categories. However, it's essential to check the specific ratings for the 2016 model year on the IIHS website, as ratings can change over time. The NHTSA also provided crash-test ratings, offering a comprehensive overview of the vehicle's safety performance. The Lancer's safety tech was dated compared to modern vehicles, lacking advanced driver-assistance systems like lane departure warning or automatic emergency braking.

How Does the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Compare to Other Sedan?
Better alternatives include the Honda Civic and Mazda3, offering superior driving dynamics, fuel efficiency, and more modern features. The Toyota Corolla provides exceptional reliability and resale value. The Hyundai Elantra offered a compelling mix of features and value. Similar alternatives, considering price, might include the Kia Forte or Nissan Sentra, though each has its own set of compromises. If budget is a primary concern and all-wheel drive is desired (available on the Lancer SE), it could still be a viable option, but thoroughly inspecting its condition is crucial.

Final Verdict: Is the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer a Good Sedan?

The newest car I have ever owned.I bought my 2016 Lancer 5 days ago and I already love it. I put it on the main highway and got it up to 100 mph and it did not feel like I was going that fast. It very easy to drive. It a simple car and that is fine with me ( I dont have to have all that modern stuff to drive a car.) With everything that I read about the car on line I thought I had made the wrong decision but after I drove it I knew it was the right car and right decision for me. I will post again after I have had the car for a while.

A great, dependable and economical compact carI have owned my Lancer for two years. It doesn't give me any grief, it gets great mileage (29 miles /us gallon in town) and it has plenty of power.

Seems Like a Good, Basic VehicleWhile we've had the car less than a month, it seems to be a decent basic vehicle. It handles well and accelerates nicely. It is not a particularly "heavy" car. Upholestery is average, leg room in the back seat is adequate, and the trunk is a nice size. This particular model doesn't have a remote key lock. For riding to school, running errands, or shopping, it seems to be decent transportation.

Try real reliable car.I think the best option of quality to price. Modern style, all you need to have city car for competetive price comparing with big cars.
