The Good
The 2008 Camry Solara offers Toyota's legendary reliability and a comfortable ride. Its sleek design appeals to emotional buyers, while its strong resale value, decent fuel efficiency, and low running costs attract practical shoppers. Performance is adequate for daily driving, making it a well-rounded choice.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2008 Camry Solara include less engaging handling compared to true sports cars, and some reports of minor electrical issues or premature wear in the convertible top mechanism (if applicable). Also, the rear seats are less spacious than the sedan. Rust can be a concern in northern climates, so inspect the undercarriage.

How Does the 2008 Toyota Camry Solara Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?
In terms of features, these vehicles were fairly comparable for their time. Price-wise, the Solara was generally competitive.
Alternatives to consider include the Lexus ES (for more luxury) or a newer Toyota Camry sedan for updated technology and safety features. If a sportier coupe is desired, the Accord Coupe or even a used Acura TSX could be considered. However, for a blend of reliability, comfort, and a stylish coupe or convertible design, the Camry Solara remains a viable option. It depends on individual priorities.

08 Solara with 89k.08 Solara with 89k. Just had the timing belt and related parts swapped out. I don't think it could run any or any better! Toyota is just not playing fair. This car is 16 years old and shoes no signs of slowing down. Just routine maintenance. Don't forget your timing belt!

Finest convertible of all time and super reliableI love my Solara convertible. No problems at all, ever. It rides like a Rolls Royce, has plenty of power, and the interior is as nice as a car that cost twice as much or more. The top goes down quietly and quickly and never leaks including air at high speeds. The ride is ultra quiet top up or down. All you hear are the tires on the road. Seats are super comfortable and hold you in place if you want to drive it like a sports car. You can manual shift the auto transmission but why bother? Great gas mileage. The exterior is the original paint and still looks brand new. Just a super high quality car. And this car is not small, having owned many other convertibles to me it is large. I would not sell my Solara Convertible at any price because it cannot be replaced. It is more Lexus than Toyota. Every little detail about the car spells luxury. Compass in the rear view mirror and a rear view mirror that tints itself at night when car lights behind you are too bright, then it goes back to normal after there are no lights? Seriously? This car will become a high priced classic.

Most excellent rideLoved owning this car. Usable back seat, decent sized trunk and V-6 power, plus great reliability. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. The '07-'08 models are best, as they have hands-free calling and a little better visibility.
